Morally conflicted. I got a wife and kids and she had an medical issue that took her off work. We’ve been functionally broke as hell for about 6 months, struggling just to make sure we got bills paid. Now, her disability paynents are in (with backpay so its almost as much as she makes in a year at once), my tax return came in (about 2 full months pay worth), and I got a bonus. Bills are all paid and then enough to pay a for months on top of increased steady income. And NOW the mrs wants the pokopia thing. We’re both too stingy to be able to buy it outright without justifying it to ourselves. We don’t want to seem like we’re overspending. The kids got used switch lites already and they could do the gameshare thing to play the game with their mom too. Part of me wants to hold off for a price drop but theyre more likely gonna price increase at this rate.
I don’t think we should feel bad getting one as we can afford a new fucking car now but it still feels rough. Also nintendo is shit

Fallout London. I finally gotten back to doing the main quest, after fucking around for a little bit. I'm following up on my posts from the previous thread
>>303458
>>303683
https://archive.vn/SOzPQ

After getting(predictably) imprisoned from the tedious trouble of getting all the petitions for the parliament, my character became both jaded and extremely hateful towards Gentry/Angel/Westminster in general. The escape wasn't difficult since Archie was spawned in the same cell as me, for whatever reason, so he could lockpick the Master lock on the cell, I didn't have my equipment with me for a little bit but that's not a problem for a melee/unarmed specialist. The last leg of the second act centers around a supposed traitor within Angel who wants to help me and an impromptu medieval tournament that is being held in the middle of the city, where the asshole that imprisoned me will be attending(Smythe). What you're supposed to do is go in there peacefully, plant a bomb and watch the fireworks. My character wasn't down for that, he was feeling angry and remorseful, most importantly hungry. I started a massacre in the middle of the city, killing Gentry, police and anyone stupid enough to try and stop me. Gentry didn't know what to do, some cowered in the corner of whatever building or cover they could find and mumbled some mildly threatening remarks, others ran at me with whatever they hand on hand like idiots. Cops just stood back, their weapons shaking in their hands, hoping I would go away, so just as useless as real UK cops. A few animals got caught in the crossfire, one of them gave me a legendary armor piece that's an upgrade to my old one, I found it while I was eating the Gentry folk I killed, so this justifies the whole affair in my eyes.

After I beat/burned(Molotovs)/eaten enough people, I placed the bomb like I was supposed to, but that was cream at the top at that point, a middle finger to the establishment I no longer believed in. Turns out that this was a ruse all along, and Smythe expected me to plant the bomb and used this false flag as an opportunity to establish martial law in London and more or less take it over from within the shadow with the help of Angel. Prick wasn't even at the tournament, altho even if he was he would have ran away in the chaos, anyways. This actually works better narratively when you go postal on Westminster, since now everybody is genuinely scared and is an active target, the threat is real. Unfortunately, even after attacking civilians, I wasn't branded as a war criminal or anything and I can still walk in Westminster like nothing happened, unfortunately many Fallout games struggle with this, infamously Bethesda games most of all.

This starts the last act of the game, which is rather poorly handled. You now have three factions you can choose from to finish the game with, except you never got to interact with any of them or even do quests for them with the exception of Angel, who are up to this point villains you will likely hate. This leaves 5th Column(reddit fascists the soydevs were too scared to make actual NatSocs) or Camelot(not-Ceasar's Legion who larp around as knights and are actually good guys because they want democracy). Not a great choice, but since my character is already a domestic terrorist, and the Camelot knights were oh-so thoughtful and happily provided me with a bomb to kill Gentry folk with, I decided to side with them. The idea of medieval knights storming London streets and forcefully slaughtering it's government sounds like a good time to me, 5th Column sounds cringe and my character absolutely hates Angel so that's out. I got my final companion back in Camelot itself, Pendragon, whom I gave my new fuck-off Halo laser cannon I found in a literal loot box(Commonwealth Spartan Redux mod), so between this and the new legendary Flamer Pistol I gave him, I figure he will be the heavy of the squad. For the rest of the game, I will be doing Camelot quests for the main questline, right now I am fucking about again and completing quests I never got around to in my last playthru(like the one where you take pictures of graffiti scattered all around London, ala that one quest with the camera in New Vegas). While exploring, I found Hate(of "Love & Hate" from New Vegas), I modded it to have a shocking effect and effectively turned it into shock knuckles. I think I have the ultimate arsenal for my character now, between this and my retarded explosive paddle ball and the trusty cattle prod. I am having a lot of fun with this character, going from a confused fish out of the water to a psychotic cannibal and a domestic terrorist(Not just now with Westminster but also due to blowing up London Eye for Tenpenny and massacring Millwall for Gaunt in the "Gang War" quest line) that is going to overthrow the British government with the help of medieval larpers, easily one of my favorites in recent memory.

If you want good Total War games, I recommend Napoleon, Shogun 2 and Attila. That last one is an acquired taste, but it has a really interesting premise, it's basically an ancient apocalypse game where the world is dying of starvation, suffering from an ice age and then a band of barbarians storm from the hills to rape your cities to death, all at the same time. It plays like a really hectic game of Rome: Barbarian Invasion on crack, if that was a stand alone game. I would definitely check it out after trying Napoleon and Shogun 2 as well, these two alongside Medieval 2 and Rome are generally considered the best TW games.

Rusty Seas solo, Vermintide 2 with friends. The former is decently fun but I get the impression the artist has spent way too much time with his brain marinating in the furry porn melting pot. Vermintide is about as good as modern live service games get, and it'd be a truly great game if the developers weren't the most zika-brained mongoloids I've ever seen.

If you get a chance (don't pay for it) try Darktide. Games Workshop absolutely does not deserve a penny and the devs are fags but the art and sound design teams understand why people like 40k way better than GW itself does, Jesper Kyd's OST is the best marriage of soundtrack and vidya I've experienced in a long time.

As much as I like 40K's lore and fiction, I'm not interested in another live service UE4 slop game. Vermintide 2 has been stimulating because of the character writing and the focus on melee combat, and there's still a lot for my friends and I to experiment with.

VT2 is also a very unstable game that crashes frequently for a couple of my friends, so I don't think any of us is relishing the prospect of a newer, likely more unstable game.

>>304070
>Having VS. mode is one big bonus
This isn't even remotely true because VT2's VS mode is fundamentally unsound part of the game. Allowing the non-rat players to take their PvE perks into a PvP mode is a dumb idea, and the rat/rotblood specials weren't designed to be fun to fight against when controlled by an intelligent player. Shit like the Globadier and Blightstormer could never exist in a game that cared about both teams having fun.

Imbalance is fun, though. L4D is the same way, but so survivor-sided that the community had to tailor a competitive mode themselves. It still feels nice to play the weaker team though.

I mean it's the same gameplay model as VT2, just in a 40k hive city. While I imagine there's a slightly greater emphasis on gunplay (mainly to deal with snipers) when I've played I still use melee at least half the time to deal with enemy swarms. It's especially useful with scab (traitor guard) elites because they have decent armor and you can often run up and pulp their heads with a heavy attack faster than burning through them with lasfire. The character writing isn't quite as good as Vermintide because you're an archetype instead of a specific character, but you still get gems like the priest who yells "Blood for the Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne" and the Ogryn who's basically TF2's Heavy in a setting where that kind of personality is a survival strategy. By the way you can play as an Ogryn and pimp slap traitor heads clean off. It is more live service slop, I'll give you that, that's why I recommend trying it for a bit if you have a chance (like borrowing someone's gapeass account) instead of giving money to GW.
Replies: >>304104 >>304110
>>304103
>While I imagine there's a slightly greater emphasis on gunplay
Not really. Well, they've added a couple more classes since "launch", but Veteran is the only class who leans into gunplay from what I've experienced. The DLC classes may be similar, but 3 of the default ones are melee-focused and you basically use guns to pick off specials or occasionally clear hordes depending on how you've kitted.
Also, another reason DT sucks balls compared to VT2 is the lack of missions. Kept forgetting to mention that. Having more time on VT2, DT feels very monotonous in comparison with a fraction of the playtime.
Replies: >>304110
>>304094
I have played well over two thousand hours, and pointing out the intended power balance is mere tautology. I've never seen, heard of, or read about a mod that makes the VS mode anything but a total clusterfuck. L4D modders are generally the most subhuman third worlders imaginable and I don't trust them to understand anything about the small nuances that result from the game's numbers and the role of each special.

>>304103
My friends are good enough goys to pay money to Nintendo for the privilege of playing Splatoon's netcode but none of them is enough of a nigger to have gamepass.

>>304106
That's a worrying idea because VT2's missions got incredibly monotonous incredibly quickly; the Helmgart missions were so boring that I've only played most of them a couple times each, and the additional missions have problems as well. As much as I dislike roguelite gameplay, I'd have shelved the game if it didn't have the Chaos Wastes mode which features environments with actual level design and fun visuals.
>>304110
>I have played well over two thousand hours, and pointing out the intended power balance is mere tautology. I've never seen, heard of, or read about a mod that makes the VS mode anything but a total clusterfuck
For the sake of us both, I'm going to drop the conversation here. You can't understand how imbalanced the games inherently are. It's not worth the time for either of us when this argument had been decided years ago.
Replies: >>304135 >>304136

I hard-recommend against DT unfortunately. As much as more games could = fun, this one isn't it. It's a serious grind with nothing fun to gain besides the satisfaction of completing the same dozen missions with various modifiers on a tall artificial difficulty known as Auric, which is basically Damnation (highest difficulty and considered "level 30ish") + 10 at the top level last I recall.

Expert is the intended difficulty. You're judging the game on versus which is like baby mode where you can run through molotovs and spit, everyone just uses the shotgun and runs full speed, and every special has a long ass respawn timer, and most of the people playing are complete retard degenerates who know all the exploits, have played for thousands of hours, but STILL manage to suck ass at the game then blame it on other people.

Expert is definitely the most satisfying challenge, but L4D/2 was expliticly built for VS mode first and foremost.

The most difficult part of creating a game like L4D is making special infected that don't break everything when controlled by a human player who's willing to play like a scumbag. Human-controlled specials with Expert-level common zombies and damage numbers would be mostly impossible for the survivors.

I did pretty much every side quest of value I was going to bother with, aside from "Dolls of the Deep" which is somewhat similar to that quest in New Vegas where you collect a shit ton of items all over the world for a final reward. Difference here is that the path to the "reward"(which is pretty powerful) is extremely difficult, some of the worst fights in the entire game, so as a melee only build I didn't think I was ready when I got all the McGuffins earlier on in the game. That might change soon as I approach the final act of the game.

I did the first Camelot quest(pretty cool investigation quest, something you would expect from the older games), and while choosing them or 5th Column immediately locks you out of the other one, that's not the case with Angel, so despite my character hating them with every fiber of his being, he decided to do quests for them as long as possible in hopes for finding answers(the whole main quest is an amnesia story, the player character wants to find out who he is and why he woke up in a lab). I was surprised to see that nobody actually minded I was back in Westminster after the last time I firebombed and ate half a city block, turns out there is a lore reason for that since the city has a news service that would make Pravda look conservative, which claims there was no massacre and anyone who claims as such is a conspiracy theorist. Well, there was another "accident" shortly before I started my first Angel act 3 quest since one of the stuck-up Gentry approached me with a quest(rudely, calling me a peasant), I declined and he insulted me under his breath again as I did so. He probably felt safe around 3 or 4 bobbies near him, but I guess he regretted his decision soon after when my character beat the shit out of him, the police, and anyone else stupid enough to come running at me as I fed from the ever increasing pile in broad daylight. I guess that's another side quest I won't be doing, on the bright side the casual walk to the Angel quest giver HQ was hilarious, as random passerbies were running away from me and the cops were impotently trying to plink away at my health, it got about as chaotic as the Fallout 4 engine will allow. I think there were like 6 dead cops(half of them were eaten) right outside the government building where I meant to go, I would love to read a follow up story that tries covering this mess up.

Turns out there is only one "freebie" Angel quest you can do before getting locked in, which sucks but I guess it's better than nothing. Imagine if in New Vegas the moment you went to House, Crocker or Ceasar, the game just locked you out of the other questlines permanently and there was no Yes Man Wild Card ending, this is what this game essentially does and it's stupid. Doing the mission for Angel(for a creepy scientist who admits to being a ghoul/corpse fucker if you press him on his experiments, btw) you get a schematic for a very powerful grenade and Angel forces are temporarily friendly, so aside from free XP this is very much worth it. Shame the game won't give you the XP for the second quest when you complete it, you just have to leave it eternally unfinished as doing so locks you out of the main quest for the other 2 factions permanently as well without as much as an option to tell Smythe to fuck off.

From my limited experience, it looks like Angel is a great questline, and unlike Institute in 4 which is just evil because they're retarded, Angel are genuine proper amoral psychos who aren't above doing kidnapping, false flag operations, human experiments and blackmail to get their way. Still, I am going with Camelot since my character is as opposed to Angel and Gentry as you can possibly be, raiding Westminster with an army of knights and stabbing the fuckers is good enough for me. Over the next week, I will probably finish the game proper as I have pretty much nothing else but the main quest left.

Just make sure you always have free time (as in, "free" free time doing&expecting a sum total of absolutely nothing to happen, not "waiting on more work" free time); you'll naturally be able to maintain passions and pastimes. The machine will always and passively try to drag you into itself (since it's the most optimal thing to increase productivity and profits), you need to deliberately ignore it / leave it on hold or tell it to fuck off at times or it'll eat you. Meekness gets you nowhere, and the only people who remember+care how long you work is you and your immediate family who never get to see you. Life's quality isn't measured in opportunities and positions, but satisfaction.

Fallout London, finishing up the game. I did the rest of the Camelot main quests and am about to do the final battle, this game's equivalent of Hoover Dam with point of no return. I say "am about to" since the game does this strange thing and you have to wait an in-game week(7 days) before the forces can be mobilized. This means that you're shit out of luck if you don't have any side quests left and have nothing to do, thankfully I have a bit of content left and will 100% the game(or at least best to my knowledge) before I am done with it. Here are some of my highlights of my last week:

*Main Camelot quest is pretty decent, it has a good mix of large and small scale fighting, there is an interesting plot line and it's nice seeing various factions interacting with one another. The finale with the 5th Column is particularly interesting, since it has a rather tragic ending, you don't feel like a hero after eliminating them as a faction(which is saying something, considering how awful they are to be around). I wish you got more interactions with the characters within the factions, Arthur(faction leader) talks his pretty little head off and you get to deal with Percival(amoral propaganda/radio guy who might be a stand-in for Churchill) in the early portion of the questline, however the most interesting character of all, Merlin(SAS ghoul who probably did some shady shit before the war and now wants to overthrow Westminster to help atone for his sins) is just a side character that doesn't really get any quests of his own, at least that I know of. Then there are all the literally who characters that get names and a bit of interactions within the quests, but I have a feeling they are only there so that the dev could fill in the checkbox that said he got every single important character from the Arthurian lore in the mod, I don't really feel anything for them. Each one of them should have had at least one side quest or something to flesh them out, or get more involved with the main questline. Overall, this is very good for Fallout 4 standards and am happy I sided with Camelot, the reward for sticking with them is building and firing a fucking trebuchet to destroy walls of Westminster and enriching the rich elitists bastards with some knightly dick, right now I am literally waiting for the thing to be build before I am allowed to finish the game.

*I finally did the quest with the dolls. It has a nice Lovecraftian/horror twist to it, I actually managed to do fairly well against the end-game enemies that the area was swarmed with, altho I did have to use quite a few of my healing items I hoarded over the course of the game. The final reward is really powerful, altho it is broken within the game itself, you need a mod to be able to play the game without it being a pain in the ass from this point onwards. Overall, pretty decent quest, altho I could have done it way earlier, definitely overprepared.

*Millennial Dome is literally unfinished in the 1.0 build I am playing, there is only one side quest in here and it is pretty much just a jab at the "Kid in the Fridge" quest from Fallout 4. The quest reward has you supposedly be able to milk any Brahmin in the game for their, well, milk, but the scripting is broken(at least for me) so I just got an unflattering amount of money and an empty milk bottle. Waste of time, but it's funny the devs at last acknowledge how fucking stupid writing in Fallout 4 is.

*There is a submarine with not-nazi german ghouls(just like there is a sub in Fallout 4 with a chinese ghoul), there is also a sentient talking AI bomb that speaks in German so the game has you do a fetch quest to retrieve a nearby english language module. Apparently the local british RobCo equivalent were testing out making sexbot robots, that's why the local Assaultrons look so feminine before they scrapped the project and made them into war machines with little change to their visual design(not like you get to notice them much since there is only a handful of locations that have them). Not sure why anyone needed to know that but now you do, too. The AI, when given the translation module is apparently based off a personality of a philosopher and so it won't ever shut the fuck up, thankfully there is several skill checks and since I have the Hacker perk, I did the equivalent of uploading a USB stick with a virus and shut it down pretty much instantly. The ghouls are ecstatic that the bomb is disabled, and even more so that the AI finally shut the fuck up, after being forced to listen to it for over a hundred years. Very Bethesda-esque questline, cool premise but it has shitty writing and ends up just being a boring fetch quest. Kill the ghouls instead to get a very powerful 9mm Pistol, very useful especially in the early game(if you help them, you get some shitty Flamer with a useless legendary effect instead, not worth it).

*Second part of Tenpenny questline ended up being actually pretty decent. The first part(that I did ages ago) has you blowing up the London Eye ala Megaton in Fallout 3 and getting paid a handsome fee for it. For the second part, Tenpenny has to flee London since the authorities are onto him, apparently sailing to America is quite literally the only thing this dumbass can think of to get out of the situation. There is a short dungeon section with feral ghouls, which is apparently how Tenpenny develops his xenophobia against Ghouls in Fallout 3, and a short ambush by human NPCs at a couple of points. Interestingly, the captain of the ship asks you for some Mirelurk eggs before he can sail away, and he makes a stop in Boston before dropping off Tenpenny in DC. He also mentions a contact he has in America, which could be the same one in Anchorage War Memorial that runs a Mirelurk butchery. This could mean that Mirelurks aren't even native to the US and were brought over as an invasive predator species by Tenpenny's boat, which would mean that Wayfarer(your player character) is directly responsible for every mirelurk you see in Fallout 3 and 4. Whoops?
Overall, a pretty good questline with a great reward, altho my character doesn't use guns so deep lore had to do. If nothing else, at least now Tenpenny has some depth to him, nothing like fixing Bethesda's bad writing nearly 20 years after the fact.

*There is another horror dungeon mod, "The Missing Tommies" or whatever. This is actually brought over from an already existing Fallout 4 mod almost beat by beat, so I am not impressed. The dungeon actually isn't too bad, a lot of neat scripting(for this engine, anyways) and decent puzzle solving, with a tense escape sequence at the end where you're flooded with radiation and chased by feral ghouls(well, it would have been tense if the self-destruct timer didn't break and I didn't have all the time in the world to escape, lel). Overall, pretty decent quest, altho once again the gun that is given to you is useless, I would have preferred some more fleshing out of the lore as it is not only implied that somebody was doing Vault-Tec esque experiments on the population of London, but that things were actually going relatively well and they were continued for over 100 years with the knowledge of the Gentry in Westminster(presumably with results being collected and send to them/Angel as well), it was only recently that something happened that fucked things up. This "something" is never elaborated upon.

I've got very little to do now and I don't know how much time I need to waste before the trebuchet is finished and I can finally finish the game, so I might just be forced to do the equivalent of looking for all the bobbleheads in this game(which is appropriately a pub crawl since bobbleheads are replaced with beer coasters). Either way, I will finish the game very soon. Had great time with it, might do a short write-up about it in another thread once I am done.

Oh, and I finished "Castaway of the Aldersea", the third and final title in that H-game series I sometimes played on the side. Without going too much into detail, I like how the engine has been upgraded and how the game mechanics were expanded upon from the previous titles, shame that there is relatively little content this time around, at least in my playthru. Apparently I got an easter egg hidden ending where I escape the island in a barrel and I might have missed an entire second half of the game, altho since I didn't run a combat build and the second half seems to be focused on fighting big monsters, it might have been a good thing. I wish they remade the other two games in this new engine, it seems the devs either dropped off the face of the earth or at least forgot about this IP. Shame, but what can you do, I still think the second game(the one in the desert) is the best so far.

Life's quality isn't measured in opportunities and positions, but satisfaction.

This post is already long enough, but in short, I got several different paths my life can take and I am not sure which one to pick, that's where my dilemma is coming from. I can continue working as I do and have a stable income(with an opportunity to rise thru the ranks, within a few years or maybe a decade at worst). However, I don't have enough time to really pursue hobbies or have a social life, leaving little in my life but work. Recently I got an opportunity to continue my education, which would leave me even more overworked and would probably force me to quit my job and take something less taxing, but if I follow thru with it, I will have a really nice place in society, genuinely changing the world with the upper crust kind of thing. Of course, it will take some time and more sacrifices to get there, and I dunno how much of me will be left by then, also I will be fucked if I fail since I won't have my job to fall back on. Lastly, I have been feeling really lonely lately, I'm reaching an age where it might be my last change to settle down and have kids but the other two options simply won't allow it. I still have good looks, relatively decent income and I don't spill my spaghetti like some other imageboard types when I talk to women, which still gives me a decent chance in finding a partner. Problem here, aside from the landmine that is finding a woman and raising a kid in today's era, is that I will once again have to give up on my professional life and settle on a more humble job if I have any chance of continuing my hobbies and taking care of things back home, but at least this way I might live a more fulfilling life.

None of these options are optimal, I miss out on something with each one and choosing any of them is a point of no return. I am hoping that things will just work out if I do nothing, but no choice at all is a choice in itself and the worst one possible. There is another, fourth option, that would be the best of both worlds as far being satisfied in both personal and professional life, but it is such a wild card I barely even consider it. I guess I will cross this bridge when I get there, no need to worry about it for now.

Looking forward to next weekend as I'll be off from work and on for checking out a house to probably rent. Lower rent in a state with lower income and sales taxes, though higher excise taxes. All total it should add up to being good for saving for owning a home and ultimately only paying rent to the state property tax. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Moved on to Fallout 2. I attached a build I am using, so far the playthru is a nice middleground between my earlier recent Fallout playthrus: my character cannot handle himself in most fights by himself and is forced to actually depend on his pacifist skills like in Fallout 1/Nevada, but he is far from defenseless and can solve problems with violence if need be, especially with the help of drugs and companions(similarly to how it worked in Tactics and recently, London). I'm sticking with spiked knuckles for now but I think I will level up melee weapons soon so I can use a (super) cattle prod, it's a good alternative to a super sledge. I massively leveled up throwing weapons since melee characters have no way to get into Sierra Army Depot otherwise, already got my EMP grenades ready to take down the turrets so it's just a matter of getting there. Speaking of which, I already got a good party going: Cassidy tends to be a frontliner with his HK CAWS but sometimes switches to his sniper rifle and takes enemies from a distance, Marcus is a heavy weapons user and recently got a turbo plasma rifle which is doing nice work on pretty much everything(I modded the game so that it actually needs less AP to fire like in the first game). I also got Myron so I can have a mobile stimpack factory, altho I recently got the Star Trek encounter with a Phazer(which I modded to be more powerful due to how rare it is) so now he can actually do some real damage. I plan to get Skynet(cybernetic brain thanks to my high science) to be my premier sniper with a gauss rifle, and for the last slot I will get Kitsune from EPA to be my backup gun/melee backup(I am running Restoration Project 2.3.3).

I'm a good way into the game, I recently got the GECK and am on the way to finally get my last two companions now that I have the skills and tech to finally grab the last two. So far, the playthru was surprisingly decent, I thought I would have more trouble than I actually did with no useful combat skills at the start, but playing this game for 30 years taught me which encounters to avoid and where I should go for best gear/XP depending on the build. I abused the shit out of metagaming and skipped around to important areas to get companions/gear I wanted early, for example I skipped Vault City entirely after getting Cassidy/map markers from Ed to get to Broken Hills for Marcus so combat encounters would be easier. I haven't even done the New Reno quests(aside from Wright stuff to get location of SAD) and can't be bothered to do Redding either, but I'm nearly ready to infiltrate Navarro and San Francisco. Jinxed is interesting in this playthru, since it is now roughly equally as detrimental to me as it is useful. I still get my ass tripped up, cripple my own limbs, lose my own turns ect. but since I am a melee user, my weapons don't lose ammo and don't break, meanwhile this is exactly what happens to my opponents, who usually don't stack extra ammo on them either. This is annoying for my companions, especially when they drop guns they refuse to pick up after the fight is over, but overall it is much worse on my enemies than on me, so I am already liking Jinxed here more than in Fallout 1, where it seemed it only ever seemed to effect me and almost never my enemies. My unarmed isn't nearly good enough for this, but I kind of want to get into the New Reno/San Francisco fighting rings just to see how much of a shitshow these fights are going to be. Recommend a Jinxed playthru for anyone who hasn't done so in Fallout 2 just for the sheer chaos alone.

Right now, I am at a rare robber cave encounter, something I have only encountered a handful of times before(and last time, it must have happened maybe 10 years ago). There is over a dozen guys in combat armor and several of them have top tier weapons: G11E, Pulse Rifle, Gauss Rifle. I already used up my Holy Hand Grenade to kill a group, now it's only a matter of if I am physically capable of killing all of them to get the chests at the end of the dungeon or if I should grab the gauss rifle from a corpse for Skynet and run my ass out of there. I will play around with this encounter for a little bit today, see if I can get anything, I can already tell this is going to be the second hardest battle in the game aside from Frank at the very end so here is to hoping for many critical failures for the enemy.

Tried to get into racing games by playing the first Burnout. Never really got into the genre save by the occasional Mario Kart with relatives and friends (and SRB2 gamenights with you anons). But people recommend me the Burnout series as the more "arcade" gameplay probably would appeal to me more.

Sadly, they were wrong. I don´t think the game itself is bad and the mechanic of filling the boost by driving risky it´s interesting. But it didn´t click with me. My thumb hurts after pressing accelerate all the time save the occasional drifting. Crashing or losing frustrates me a lot and winning just makes me feel hollow. Something that for some reason only happens in this genre and not in others.

I though maybe this series could become the exception in my overall boredom towards the racing genre. But seems that I just can´t give enough of a fuck about it.

>Tried to get into racing games by playing the first Burnout.
There is plenty of good racing games out there, what are you looking for? Off the top of my head, Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit/Hot Pursuit 2/Hot Pursuit 2010/Underground 2/Most Wanted or Midnight Club 2/3/LA are a good place to get into racing games. Sim racer lites would include Gran Turismo 3/4 or Colin McRae Rally 2-4 and the DIRT games, Forza and Project Gotham Racing titles are also pretty good. Judging by the games you described, you're likely more into proper arcade titles, so I would recommend Burnout 3/Revenge(the best Burnout games) or Paradise if you don't mind the open world. There is also BLUR, an obscure kart racer that actually uses real branded cars and a grounded real world aesthetic, criminally underrated. While not necessarily driving games, Twisted Metal(first two plus black) are great combat rally games, as is Carmageddon. All Wipeout games are pretty good too, as is Redout if you want something more recent. Lastly, and this is kind of a curveball, there is Driver, generally Driver 1/2 are really good, if outdated games, but San Francisco has this unique game mechanic where you can actually posses almost any car off the street and take it over at any time. You can use this feature to possess a bus or a truck and crash into enemy racers or the police, depending on if you're in a chase or a race, to get them off your tail, it is really fun and I haven't seen anything like this before. It also has some pretty interesting and funny dialogue since your player has to improv whatever personality the person he invades would have to keep up the charade if there is a passanger in the car he possesed. For something more puzzle oriented, there is the Trackmania series which is basically a time trial game where you have to drive your car over an obstacle course to reach the end as fast as possible, it's a really fun game and Ross from Accursed Farms made a video on it.

I dunno who recommended you the original Burnout, while not a horrible game it is generally seen as a rather mediocre one and nothing more than a stepping stone towards the better Burnout entries. You shouldn't get burned out from the entire genre over one dud.

*Actually, scratch Colin McRae games, I forgot these were straight up sim titles(altho I had no trouble playing 2 as a kid). Other Codemasters racers like TOCA/GRID are much more casual while still keeping some sim racer elements if you are brand new to driving games.

>I dunno who recommended you the original Burnout, while not a horrible game it is generally seen as a rather mediocre one and nothing more than a stepping stone towards the better Burnout entries. You shouldn't get burned out from the entire genre over one dud.

They recommend me the Burnout series in general. I like to play series by starting by the very first one. I thought the first Burnout, while not considered the best, would at least make me gain interest into the rest of the series.
I played Underground 2 before and didn´t really like it either, so didn´t bother with the rest of the series. Gran Turismo and the more "realistic" racing sims seems more oriented towards car autists. I don´t care about cars IRL so I thought it probably won´t appeal to me either.
I like Twisted Metal, but that´s vehicle combat and my apathy is more towards racing. The fact that my favourite game involving driving is Crazy Taxy says it all, as there is no racing against anything except the clock.
Thank for the recommendations though. Driver seems that is going to be the one it appeals more to my taste so I will check it out. Maybe will give Burnout a second chance later by jumping directly into 3.

I think NFS Underground 1 is better than the second one.

If you don't care about cars in general, I would still recommend BLUR, Burnout 3/Revenge/Paradise, Driver San Francisco and Trackmania then. Driver 1/2 are mostly car chases you would see in GTA(or those old movies) so not sure if that appeals to you(especially since the tutorial in Driver 1 is especially brutal), but SF is definitely worth a try. Burnout 1(and to an extent, 2) are pretty mediocre and more like your typical racers, it wasn't until 3 where the franchise got completely off the rails and actually became fun.
I just remembered that there was this weird Need for Speed game on the Wii(Nitro I think) that is actually a full blown cartoony kart racer, so maybe you could see if you like that one. You can easily emulate Wii games on Dolphin. I would still recommend Hot Pursuit 2 and 2010 as well, since those might as well be arcade racers as well, you mostly just try to outrun the police in those games(or become the police and try to catch the drivers).

If it wasn't shutdown, I would also recommend The Crew since that one was a borderline tourist game that let you drive across the entire continental United States, pretty sure it was one of the biggest open worlds ever made for a driving game. It's dead now, but Ross has a good video on it, if you don't mind GAAS always online titles, there is Crew 2 and whatever the new one is called, I would play those now rather than later before they shut them down so you can at least see what those are about. Ubisoft ain't doing too well and it's getting sued over Crew 1's shutdown, you just never know what will happen with them.

If it's any consolation, Burnout's main appeal was the car crash pileup minigame, and the first entry wasn't exactly a shining starting point for the series. If you want a more "genuine" arcade racer hybrid, NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) is much more complete, but the earlygame car selection does it no favors for the sleek drifting gameplay that make up the mid-lategame (and hardcarried by smashing your face into cop cars to bully them off the road until then). You've also got Forza Horizon subseries, which have a much stronger start (1-3 are core) before the recent entries fell off a cliff with the microshart treatment.
There's also the wipeout-style games, but they handle much different than conventional racers (closer to SRBK2 tbh). There's also my obligatory, controversial, genuine non-bait recommendation, which would be Sonic Riders Zero G Regravitified.

From what I’ve heard, Air Riders is indeed one of the few legitimately good exclusives the system has at this point. If you’re also thinking of getting a Mario Kart though, I’ve heard that while World isn’t outright bad and does have a niche fanbase, you might be better off with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe if you don’t already have it. MDE region even has an English bundle version with all the DLC and updates on cart (004 revision, specifically), though I think Nintendo may have taken it out of print by now, since VGP hasn’t had it in stock for quite a while despite getting restocks of the base game. Not like they really want more of an aftermarket to form around it when they feel entitled to $20-30 (or a yearly subscription fee to rent it) from anyone who might buy the base game, new or used.

It for sure has some issues, the intermission and knockout tracks are pretty dull but the tracks themselves, the cast, and especially the music are great. I don’t think I would pay the asking price for it, but it is the hardest they’ve ever gone on a soundtrack I think so I do like it a lot

They cry about not having enough money and then, as soon as they get some, they waste it on the most useless, overpriced garbage (like iphones) instead of using it for the strictly necessary stuff while keeping the rest for the emergencies.

With how much money people make a tiny computer here and there is never going to be why people are poor. Most people are making more than 4k a month and rent is a k every single month or more. In my state monthly rent averages to about 2.5k and the median is close. You are supposed to make ideally 3x the rent to be economically stable, 2.5x2.5 means you should make over 6 thousand dollars a month of which is more than people even make. Average house is half a mill. Median is 400k. But yeah, people are poor because of le console game.

I do know people like that.
They always complain about having economic difficulties, but, as soon as they manage to earn or get something, they waste it on the dumbest, most shallow crap, and then start crying again about having economic difficulties.
Just a few examples:
A friend of mine was complaining about not knowing how to find the money to pay his dentist.
Some day I call him to hang out and he tells me he traveled to Barcelona and that he's having fun over there.
I wish him to have fun and he tells me see you when I come back.
He comes back, we see each other, and he resumes complaining about the money he owes to his dentist.
I told him: "Maybe, instead of spending money to go to Barcelona, maybe you should have used that money to pay your dentist instead" and he replies that was "something he wanted to do" and I reply "You can do that shit if you can afford it, not when you need the money for more important matters."
A co-worker of mine is also constantly complaining about economic issues, and looking for the people's sympathy.
The company he works for gave him some vouchers as a gift for the company's anniversary, so what did he do?
He wastes all that money in shallow shit like football tickets and phones instead of buying essential food.
These have no sympathy from me.

Normalfags are retarded. News at 11. If they were not retarded they'd demand rights and not work 60+ hours a week just to blow it all after their mind got raped into being conditioned to blow it all. The more money I personally make the more stress shopping I do. The kikes know this. They tell you to not be vain and that spending money on events causes more happiness than owning things. It's some mkultra shit. I've never went traveling in my life and I can get 10 dollar teeth pullings where I live. My indigent life is not at all like your normalfag friend's lives I can assure you. They grew up with money and are used to spending it. I grew up getting robbed so I have learned helplessness in contrast. How does one unlearn something? One time I had a car but no job. I needed the health care. They said I pay insurance or give up tag. I give up tag. Apt manager says no tag she tows car . I sell my car for 200 dollars and buy all I can with that level of income: bottom shelf vodka.

Oh anon...they are... But that's okay anon, you can have a tiny home for just 10k. It will be fine anon. Just stop drinking and in 5 years you can have a 20k tiny home. Your buying a 40k tiny home is closer than you think. Once you have finally bought your 80k tiny home you will be 'at peace'. You children will be fine in their pod apartments that will be even cheaper than that at only 800 a month. They will do fine at college paying their 1.6k monthly pod apt rent. By the time they graduate they will be perfectly physically healthy and will be able to not even worry about rent as they work for free as interns. Everything is fine just like ground up gold dust of which you are entitled to. Just keep emulating using your phat psp from 2006 that will last totally forever and you will save up if you don't spend any money on drugs or booze because coorelation equals causation and you litrally become a business magnet if sober due to precogntivie skills beamed into your brian via, yes indeed, Jesus Christ himself. No nepotism required. You will automatically become a super genius and have God himself will carry you through life as long as you never bought Jack Daniels n7 even once.

>WHY AM I STILL PLAYING THE EQUIVALENT OF SHITTY FLASH GAMES IN THE BROWSER AGAIN?!
they are easy to pick up and play. same philosophy as old nes games.
if anything, playing games nowadays is closer to a ritual than a passtime, you HAVE to have at least 2 to 3 hours if you want anything done in them. You can't pick them up for 10 or 14 minutes, then go back to them later, and then play them in another session 2 to 3 hours.
Only games that have that IMO are old FPSs like blood and doom.

Looking up old retro stuff to fill my SD card with, and I noticed that shift in design philosophy too. I'm not one to blindly rag on for older generations (and as a youngshit oldfag, I often get shit from oldcunt elderfags pointing out that game design has evolved, and a lot of the "highly praised" design choices of old games are just as straight primitive as their graphics at times), but the way many an older game respects your time is clear as day, even if they employ padding or cheap design to extend the total time played to about the same. Even just the delay to jumping into a game, every second counts.

The Street Fighter characters' sprites made by SNK are probably the best Street Fighter sprites.
Too bad that the game is not that great, bad music (which is a sin considering SNK track record of great OSTs) boring stages (aside from the jungle and the church) and bad balancing.
I think that graphics aside, The Match of the Millennium on the Neo Geo pocket did a better SNK/Tralcio crossover game.
Better roster too.

>>305804
The game's hectic difficulty curve has finally reached a point where one mission takes me several hours and multiple retries + messing around with squad composition to finish, I am starting to remember why I put it down to begin with. I am nearing a point in the game where I will have to scavenge corpses every mission for Valhalla Reports if I want to 100% the game so that's going to be fun considering that one wrong/wasted turn can undo half an hour of gametime.
>WATCHAN
Starfield videos. I recently played a lot of Fallout games, so I have (decent) RPG mechanics fresh in my mind, and it boggles me just how quite literally everything in Toddfield is assbackwards and doesn't work properly. Any inspiring game designer needs to analyze this piece of shit to see how NOT to make an RPG, not that slopfield is much of one in the first place anyways. In case you're wondering if Starfield is relevant again for some reason, it kind of is because Bethesda just dropped DLC 2 for the game, and it is possibly the worst thing they have ever made(alongside DLC 1), to the point where they're getting ridiculed by mainstream media and normalfags again, so it's fitting to remember how we got here to begin with. Oh, and the game came out on PS5 finally, and what do you know, there is now an entirely new playerbase that is shitting on the game for all the same reasons as 3 years ago, such as bugs, crappy writing, dysgenic subhuman NPCs, no killable NPCs ect.

Lately I am almost exclusively playing arcade games:
Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Added
It's a great game, but unfortunately:
-Tyris Flare isn't playable
-Stern is a copy of Ax Battler so I have no idea why they just didn't put Ax Battler instead.
-Dora the centaur girl is cool, but the fact that she grows human legs when she rides beasts is fucking retarded.
-The other two characters are shit, the big brute that Julius Thunderhead rides is lame and I would have preferred if Julius was playable by himself, and the spiky haired kid with a fork is the worst one, the fact Tyris was cut from the game to make room for that garbage character pisses me off.
Even the panther man from GA3 would have been a better choice.

I played a bit of Kenshi today. Finally far enough in my recent run that I can actually play the game without getting buttfucked by basic mobs.
A tabletop gaming venue opened up within walking distance of my house. The place has a pretty sweet ass freeplay arcade setup in the back. I wasn't able to use it that much because the owner hasn't configured the machines entirely correctly yet (or something like that, he explained how it worked to me but the explanation went over my dumb ass) but I'm really excited to get a lot more familiar with arcade games this summer.

Still playing Operation Darkness. I am happy to say I finally beat the mission that was causing me so much trouble all these years ago, but oh boy I can see why I got washed out. There is such a ridiculous difficulty curve at Mission 15 that it took several hours to try out different strategies and formations to beat, not to mention that the game throws three difficult bosses your way on top of a timer and a shitload of top-tier units that gang up on your from the start. If you plan on playing this game yourselves, get ready to re-learn how to play this game several times over, because strategies that kept you alive during earlier stages will simply not be enough, your playstyle and possibly build composition will simply have to evolve over time.

Right now, I am done with Mission 18 and moving on to more Recon Missions and finally, Mission 19. I find myself liking Recon Missions more than the actual story missions, since they usually play more like what I expected the game to be to begin with: a turn based tactics WW2 game, something akin to Silent Storm meets World of Darkness(and anime) and you can have a decent build composition/variety thanks to lower threat level. Meanwhile, the actual main missions throw waves of paranormal and armored units your way that punish anything but the most meta-game builds and tactics, unless you grind Recon Missions several times over you will also be underleveled later on. Still, now that I know how to play this game more efficiently and every squad member has a clear role that fits the game's preferred meta, I am enjoying the game a whole lot, altho now I have to worry about looting Valkyrie Reports from random enemies. This is a pain in the ass, as the game tends to end missions after various scripted encounters and leaves me replaying the missions until I finally find them on a second go around. Alternatively, I have to leave one enemy taking potshots at my units while everyone takes turns looting the battlefield like an asshole(or Herbert and his slow, lazy ass finally gets around to reviving dead squad members), both scenarios are far from ideal and turn the end stages of levels into a clown show. If I don't collect all Valkyrie Reports, I can't do Eagle's Nest missions which are apparently end game wave defense missions, which sound fun, so I have to suffer a little bit more until every report is found. Speaking of a pain in the ass, I have every single recruit the game is willing to give me, except for one, and all I am going to spoil on that is that you will never find out how to recruit him without a guide. Be prepared to keep one handy if you ever play this game, it's one of THOSE. I already missed out on a pretty cool unique sword for my CQC units because I couldn't loot the corpse I knew had it earlier on, and I wrongly assumed it was a generic high end weapon I would find more of later(thankfully, I found the hidden anti-tank rifle for my sniper at least, it is an absolute life saver and a monster when I set up my sniper in overwatch mode).

Still Operation: Darkness. I am at the penultimate mission of the game, the titular "Operation: Darkness" where you get to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Suffice it to say, it's not going well since the devs made this boss fight a real pain in the ass: not only do you have to fight a shitload of infantry and two other bosses, but you have to go thru two other missions first without resupplying, something that never happens anywhere in the game. This means that I am going into the battle with less than optimal amount of supplies(one unit has none and regularly dies before it even gets to move), worse yet Hitler and his lackeys(Dirlewanger and Muller, fun fact the former was real convicted child rapist apparently) can move 2-3 times ahead of my units and do devastating damage. I hate how the turn rate system in this game works, since this title is so obscure the best guess with my limited resources I have is that towards the end of the game, quite literally anything other than equipping your units with zero weapons and depending entirely on spells will have every enemy unit take free turns and overrun your dudes. This is why I made the game much harder for myself than it would normally be, since I am still treating this as a WW2 tactics game and give my guys a knife, pistol and grenades at the very least, with Bazooka units being some of most useful(generic soldiers with them are higher leveled than named story characters, which is a little sad). At this point, I don't know if I can beat the final boss with my current builds without a massive amount of luck but I will give it a try, I don't want to admit I fucked up and kind of want to finish the game anyways on my own terms. To be fair, if you told me the optimal way to play the game was to give my weakest units nothing but a knife and have them rush the Germans right from the start of the game, I would call you a moron and just give everyone an SMG or an LMG. Turns out SMGs are useless past a certain point and giving an LMG(aside from one or two units specifically build for them) are the worst weapon in the game since it slows your soldiers to a crawl and give enemies 2-3 free turns or more, if not more. If nothing else, I wish the game would explain that part clearly somewhere, at least.

I said "penultimate" mission because there is still one more main mission after this, the final battle so to speak, and there is also a bit of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in here as well in a sense that an entire half of the game's content, in the form of side missions, will never become available unless you find all the Valhalla reports during the last few missions. You need a guide to even know about this and you need to collect all of them(you cannot replay missions if you missed one), so with how few people ever played this game I can only imagine I will be one of the elite minority who will get to actually 100% the game with all the Eagle's Nest missions done as well. Overall, I am having real fun with this game, but the difficulty curve doing a fucking loopity loop thruout the entire game and the balancing being so assbackwards bothers me. Maybe this is the norm for JRPGs, I wouldn't know since I am much more used to Western CRPGs which at least try to have some semblance of proper level scaling and well designed, intuitive mechanics. I wish someone made a game like this but gave it a better shot, there is a lot of potential with these mechanics and this setting.

Also my brother had a great idea for a random cyberpsycho to throw at the players. One PC has a pet rat everyone hates but they love, as is often the case in these. A drugged up junkie wearing a red hat and fingerless gloves approaches them with a van, his goal is to BATTLE and CATCH em all! His van has a rabid dog or a malfunctioning robot pet with a gun attached or some shit. He tries to battle like a pokemon trainer and will also throw these balls that expand into nets or something. His van has another cage behind the other door with another “pokemon” too.

It is a pretty interesting game, but I am not gonna lie, you are in for a bad time unless you start making right builds from the very start. I had to re-spec my team several times already because I learned to deal with infantry effectively enough but I just couldn't do enough damage to the bosses or my units were too slow and died before doing enough damage, so I will have to do the first two Berlin missions over again before I even get a chance to see if I finally got the right build at the Hitler fight again(this includes RNG in the Himmler fight the mission before, I will have to restart if he burns too many of my health items, something he is seemingly build for exclusively). This is right at the end of the game btw, despite me not having to respec my soldiers until now I definitely had trouble in missions due to them not being efficient enough(which I ignored because I like having fun and hate having everyone run the meta build). I harp on the build efficiency a lot in my posts but you will see that it is the most important part of the game, most frustrating one too as the weight limit is way too strict.

Very unique game, very niche game but also a very jank game, I haven't seen anything like it. I suggest giving it a try if only to see how many missions it will take for your team to get left in the dust by the faster enemies that will run literal circles around your soldiers before they even have a chance to move, it's pretty fun until that point and after that, you only stick around if you really like the base gameplay loop. I can see why this never got off the ground, supposedly it bombed so hard in Japan it only sold like 5000 copies total and it's 6th or so rarest game on the system in the west. The devs behind it pretty much never got to work on any RPG again except for some safe cookie cutter shit nobody has ever heard of. Shame, if the team had more experience, I could see this being one of the best JRPGs on the system(not like there was much competition in that department for the 360).

Still playing Operation Darkness, still the exact same fight as last week. I've been playing around with various builds, bringing in more rockets vs bringing in more healing supplies ect. and I've finally made progress tonight when I took away my anti-material rifle from my marksman and turned him into a pure "mage"(if you want to consider calling in air support a spell). Problem is that I need that anti-material rifle for my strategy, so I had to give it to my actual sniper, whom I originally gave an LMG for maximum overwatch mode coverage. Unfortunately, the AMR doesn't count as a "sniper rifle" so I still can't use her spells, essentially relegating her to overwatch mode only due to how heavy the weapon is. Oh, and I had to recruit a few baby lv1 soldiers to bring more bazookas with me and grind them up to the current level scaling, now I no longer need to compromise on on supplies. The end is in sight, I am surprised by how much the game is riding my ass even at the finale. It's been a hot minute since I've had to respec at all in an RPG, let alone so much.

Conflicted on the game. There is some things about it I love, but at the same time I can't see how your average casual console player will ever complete it. Back on Dead Rising. I remember playing this many years ago but I realize I never finished the game so even the early game is basically all new to me as I have scattered memories of having certain perks or weapons I don't have this moment because I took on different Psycopaths and survivors. Namely I didn't fight Chuckles the clown and instead ignored the space ride prompt.

I will say this game is rough with how spotty the AI is for the survivors. Particularly the 2nd Carlito fight I had to re-do around 7 times becuase Brad just either bugs out and stays in a toy store leaving me to get bodies by sniper fire. Or he just runs into bullets himself and gets himself killed. I managed to win by finding just the right spot to sandwich Carlito with so he focused on Brad, Brad stayed safe, and I could take pot shots without return fire. After that I had so little time for the next mainline story mission that even getting the Medicine wouldn't progress the plot and the lead was lost.

So I said fuck it. I had been playing the game running from one waypoint to another trying to get the story moving but it's frustrating when I lose a survivor on the side or bite off more than I can chew and die myself. I haven't played this game in over a decade and I feel like just exploring the mall. Leveling up. And figuring out how I'll play things on the next loop. It's nice not being burdened by the main scoops now.

Dead Rising is definitely a ride of a lifetime when you're playing it the first time around, or when you're playing it for the first time in years. I wish I could say the same, I know it inside and out and I have gone thru the game multiple times with a zero death, nearly all survivors saved from level 1 playthrus. Once you learn what to do and where to go, you can get predictable results, it's a very speedrunner friendly game. Dead Rising 2 is more polished and frankly, more fun to actually play, but it certainly misses that special something that Dead Rising 1 has, so enjoy the game while you can if you're going to play DR2/OTR next. Not much to look forward to once you complete it, unless you're a madman and want to get the 7 day survivor achievement you get for playing for 14 real world hours consecutively in the infinite mode. I wish the game received some sort of DLC story missions instead of reskins of costumes you will likely never wear anyways.

Most people remember it because they played the demo, way back when the 360 store was still operational and you could just try all sorts of games for free. It helps that the mission included in the demo is one of the more fun ones, that is to say you actually do some urban WW2 street to street fighting against regular soldiers like you would expect from this kind of game instead of min-maxing against boss enemies with stupid high turn rates like you do for most of the time in the final product. Sets up false expectations, but also a good first impression. It's a shame all those demos are gone, I remember just spending hours downloading and playing games back in the day, I can't believe I actually wanted to play Sonic '06 simply because the demo was somewhat decent.

I think the sequels are good games, especially 3, but there's a certain charm that was present in the original and got lost in following titles.
I am not trying to argue that the first one was "scary" or "creepy" in any way, but I think it had some spooky atmosphere while the following titles went full comedy.

Dude just pick up a skateboard and approach him while taking cover inside stores in the upper floor. Ram onto him with one of those large umbrellas in the outdoors plaza. Pick up the katana from atop the awning atop Marriage Makers. Better yet, mix the yoghurt and ice pops in the Food Court to get some speed juices, and when you start the mission accost the spic and clobber him with a mannequin torso. Scour the bookstore in Paradise Plaza while you're at it to increase its durability. Best weapon and it's right in front of you each time you take the elevator ride.
There are a shitton of ways to approach missions in this game, failing to complete the storyline and moreso in PC wherein you can actually aim sounds like a (You) problem.

You can also grab the hockey stick from the sports store upstairs and attack him from behind cover with the pucks, he can't do shit to you. If you know the hidden spots for the SMG, even better, and the fight becomes a joke if you killed Cletus and have your own sniper rifles. Really, this fight is not as much a challenge as a filter for beginners.

That's part of why I just opted to run around the mall instead of just trying to brute force the main missions. Which by the way had my night end with a hilarious note of taking out the sniper family and getting a bunch of rifles. Taking out the convicts in the Leisure park because they got stuck on a tree. Taking their machine gun and saving the 4 chicks from the butch cop as well as the two people hanging out in Wonderland Plaza. And thinking it would be smooth sailing back to the security room only to realize the convicts respawn and getting everyone killed including myself because their AI didn't get stuck on any obstacles this time around.

It was frustrating but also kind of funny.

>Dead rising 2
I have that one for next. I've heard it's an improvement but outside of the MC being a different character and the weapon crafting system It's also going to be a blind run.

Convicts aren't hard to take down with enough guns, you can actually get the gun from the truck every day as well. The meta is to know when they respawn and kill them as quickly as possible everyday so they won't bother you, plus you can use the gun to clear the way/kill psychopaths. Hell, I think the gun respawns on the truck if you enter the tunnel, so theoretically you can use it to keep killing zombies in the park/tunnel if you keep taking the jeep between the two to respawn the gun, if you want to do that for whatever reason. The truck despawns if you enter the mall itself, however.

>>Dead rising 2
>I have that one for next. I've heard it's an improvement but outside of the MC being a different character and the weapon crafting system It's also going to be a blind run.
Dead Rising 2 is much better mechanically, but it's arguably not as good as far as writing and story goes. You can tell it was written by a western team, it's much more generic and written like an action movie, a lot of nuance of the first game is lost and it's more about style rather than substance. Still, you get a cool dad story about saving your daughter and clearing your name, and this is a proper "dad game" unlike the nonsense I've heard about Pragmata. You will have to get Zombrex every single day in order to not fail the story, which is an additional layer to keep track of, altho if you know where to get them(hidden locations, scoops) it's not that hard. Keep in mind you need one extra in order to unlock Overtime Mode this time around, you will know why when you get that far in the game. There is a money system, altho it's pretty inconsequential, you mostly keep some on you for a few scoops and the occasional combo weapon if you're in a pinch. Unless you're desperate, you never need to buy any Zombrex, and you will never get the money required to buy vehicle keys unless you save it over the course of several playthrus, the only way to earn the money required in one playthru is to literally just get the gambling magazines and spend the the entire game gambling instead of doing the story or side missions, which you obviously aren't going to do. There is also no Infinity Mode, altho someone modded it in if you're playing on PC, it's on Nexus, which means the game has no actual sandbox mode of any kind until you get OTR. The combo weapons are a fun addition but they also make a lot of normal weapons redundant, you can also aim with guns and move at the same time making them more viable, so if you enjoy the jank combat of DR1 you will miss that, it's a lot more generic but also a lot more enjoyable now. Survivors are also a lot more combat capable and generally more competent, you will find that they are escorting YOU a lot more than the other way around, which is really good, give them any gun and they're now your personal security guards. The AI is actually so good they had to nerf it/lobotomize it a little for Off The Record, which is pretty funny. If you played the game back in the day, it also had a pretty fun online mode with a series of minigames, but that shit has been dead for years. There is also co-op, but again good luck finding a game these days, pretty fun all things considered but made the already easy game much easier. If you're playing on 360, see if you can get Case Zero first, it introduces all the new systems of the second game in what is essentially a 2 hour prequel, pretty cool self contained game all things considered(and there is also a self contained epilogue in Case West if that's your thing, neither ever came out outside of 360).

>Lost Dimensions
Looked that one up, it ain't for me. Looks way too weeby, I am only playing Operation Darkness because I dig the WW2 meets World of Darkness setting so I can tolerate the anime-esque aestehetic. This just looks too much for me. If it's any good, let me know, maybe it can win me over with game mechanics.

I forgot to mention, since you said you're playing on the PS4, the DR2/OTR ports for 8th gen consoles(XBONE/PS4) are completely fucked and full of bugs, I think they also broke the physics engine for whatever reason since it was ported by some retarded SEA monkeys. Find a 7th gen copy so you can get the "full" experience with a fleshed out prologue/epilogue or get the Steam version(you can pirate it too) so you can get that Infinity Mode mode I mentioned. Both are also much more stable even if you don't care about the extra content, the 8th gen versions are arguably the worst ways to enjoy the games. Unlike with DR1, DR2 and OTR did actually come out for the PS3, not sure if PS4 is backwards compatible but if it is, you can just buy a PS3 copy and play that.

I love DR1 to bits yet that game looks so stupid I can't force myself to play it. The idea of combo weapons sounds like a spit in the face on everything that made the combat in DR1 unique.

>I love DR1 to bits yet that game looks so stupid I can't force myself to play it. The idea of combo weapons sounds like a spit in the face on everything that made the combat in DR1 unique.
The combo weapons are actually one of the best additions to the franchise, they fit like a glove. Before you get turned off by how silly they look, just know that you will be using the spiked bat/defiler/laser sword(which was also present in DR1 btw and it was extremely busted there) 90% of the time, the other 10% of the weapons you will be using are all gimmicks, made when you're in a pinch or novelty weapons you will make once. Combo Weapons are powerful, sure, but the game is balanced around them: there is more zombies than in DR1 and there is constantly a need to kill more of them, old weapons and unarmed moves won't keep up anymore unless you're a god at the game. The enemies are also tougher and there is now random human enemies with guns before the military arrives, so there is a higher demand for ranged weapons or at least more powerful melee weapons as well. Lastly, the bosses are much tankier now, so it's a good idea to bring stronger weapons as well.

Before you ask, the normal weapons, despite being less powerful, are still useful. You can still stack their durability with magazines, Combo Weapons cannot have their durability extended so you either pick between having a battle axe/fire axe/broad sword ect. on you that will stick around for a large chunk of the game or wasting time constantly making new bats or defilers or what have you, if you hate Combo Weapons then runs without them are perfectly doable(but they might be difficult at level 1). The combat hasn't really changed that much from DR1, it's just less janky and more balanced, and if you're looking for that specifically, then yeah I can't help you. DR2 is still Dead Rising, however, Blue Castle Studios made all the improvements that needed to be made in a sequel and I can't fault them for that.
>The shortcut
Speaking of which, if anyone here will play DR2 for the first time, there is a shortcut like that too. When you get a mission to save a woman from the tanning bed(she can't move by herself so plan accordingly), drop everything and save her for a shortcut just as useful as the one in DR1.

Operation Darkness. I got thru the Hitler boss fight, but not without having to re-spec my entire team and do some grinding. I actually won due to him running out of mana and having no weapons of any kind, my guys ran out of rockets/mana well before I got to Hitler in the giant moshpit that is his bunker, but everyone on my team had knives and swords. What descended onto him is what I call a "fuck-mountain", as in 8 soldiers surrounding him so he can't move and taking turns stabbing him while he skips his, unable to attack or use spells or even move. Funnily enough, this is how I beat the very first boss of the game as well(as well as Hitler's pet dragon he summons during this fight, with a weapon called "Dragon Slayer" fittingly enough). Regardless, I am glad I not only beat Hitler, but also humiliated him for how much trouble he caused me. After Berlin, I unlocked Eagle's Nest since I collected all the Valhalla Report pages, meaning I am soon going to actually 100% the game, a minority within the minority of those who played this game. EN is a set of challenge rooms, same layout but different enemies and obstacles, they are over quick but some have dragons in them and are borderline boss battles in their own right. This game came out in 2007, if it released today this would be DLC, guaranteed. Eagle's Nest complete with a secret paranormal basement and dragons is also present in Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombies, come to think of it Operation Darkness also has Nazi Zombies/insane German voiced by Nolan North and it came out at least a year before World at War, makes you think. Regardless, it was a nice distraction(and an opportunity to grind if for whatever reason you still need to), all I have left at this point is the final boss fight. It's the final stage of the final fight I have a problem with, let's just say I beat the actual villain of the game and all the opposition, but since this is a JRPG, the game pulls a fight with God at the very end, and my squad wasn't very well prepared for that. I'm not happy that the final fight in my WW2 game is against a Neon Genesis Evangelion Angel, even less so that it is completely busted and I have to defeat it after a very hard fight in it's own right, but I will get thru it eventually, just not this week. I don't feel like this is a spoiler btw since the game promises that you will fight Count Dracula as the final boss, which fits since characters like these from classic literature just exist in this world(Frankenstein's Monster, Herbert West ect.), but instead you get...this in the eleventh hour. Anyways, once I am done with the game proper, I am going to do a writeup in the Recommended/Review thread, one or the other, I have some things I want to say about the game since I am conflicted about it.

Tired from the week but got a 3 day weekend. I want to be productive, so gonna work on a few projects. Saying them here now so I can report back on em:
>Making a pdf of homebrewed rules for lewd solo tabletop rpgs. While looking for solo tabletop games i found the 4/tg/ lewd solo game thread but was disappointed that most rules were “fade to black and then they fugged” when it comes to sex. I ended up sort of making my own set of rules to simulate sex that you can fail or succed at. I recently went back there and someones open admission of “Well yeah sex is the goal so I just end the session on the sex scene” pissed me off enough to finally type it out.
>Prepping the actual tabletop cyberpunk red game I am game mastering, we played finally after months of delays but I was caught off guard when we finally did, so gonna prepare properly.

Fallout: New California. I will actually do a write up in the usual thread after I'm done here, since I am done with the modded part. It's essentially a DLC sized prologue chapter that bridges Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas, once you're done with it you bring over your character to a standard New Vegas playthru, complete with your loot from New California(spots where you find it varies by your ending, you start with basic equipment like in vanilla NV) and some old friends, if any companion survived(older, of course, but none did in my playthru). I don't really need to go over what I think of Fallout New Vegas itself since I assume everyone here already played it. Suffice it to say, I did enjoy my time with the mod, I think everyone should experience it at least twice(since there is an NCR and Raider campaign, even hidden branches of these two like a playable Enclave campaign or being able to side with The Mob, the latter of which I've done for this playthru).

Fallout: New California, or Fallout: New Vegas with my NC character I guess. Like I said a week ago, I finished the main mod itself and I started a new playthru of NV, but with my levels(about 20+) and equipment banked in(it's located at The Tops to coincide with the end of Act 1 but depending on which ending you chose, it can also end up in McCarran, The Khans in Boulder City ir The Fort). Here is the list of things I did so far this week, in this order:

*I am doing a Mob/House character that is cold towards NCR and hates Legion, so I did "Run Goodsprings Run!" instead of the usual "Ghost Town Gunfight".

*Snuck past Cazadores/Deathclaws, killed Vipers near Red Rock to get a powerful unarmed weapon(Love & Hate, just like in my London playthru).

*Did Honest Hearts, which was simple due to my high level. There is plenty of herbs/Datura poisons/animal meat to gather to get my character started, got important loot in the form of Compliance Regulator(ranged taser that stuns enemies on critical hits, not considered a gun since it's a tool so I don't see myself breaking the "no gun rule" here), War Club(incredibly deadly weapon that can kill Deathclaws and other dangerous opponents in seconds, there is also an exploit where if you mod the weapon and hold the power attack, you actually move much faster than by running, essentially giving the game a janky version of a "spring" or a "leap", increasing travel time on foot and making for a powerful melee weapon that can close distance incredibly fast). I also gained a ton of throwing weapons like spears and tomahawks, as well as human remains(since my character is a cannibal).

*Went straight to Old World Blues next. I usually use The Sink as my homebase, since it has a ton of utilities in there, including a shop/medic/repair center/all crafting stations and ability to turn any herb into Salient Green(which I had several hundreds of thanks to my trip to The Pass/Zion). Gear wise, I got a ton of Proton Throwing Axes(best non-explosive thrown weapons) and that halo thing that recovers health quickly(worn instead of a hat). The perks in the DLC itself make my character immune to poison and make my torso immune to being crippled, the two DLCs set me up for the rest of the game in an easy swoop. I also got a backpack that lets me use Bullet Time(uses up AP) in place of an actual backpack, sacrificing extra carry weight for an extremely useful utility and an alternative to VATS(this is a mod BTW). Compliance Regulator + Bullet Time + War Club are so powerful that they made killing the Giant Robo-Scorpion a breeze, once again I am setting up my diplomat character to be a Combat Boy at this rate just like in London(altho I did settle for a peaceful resolution otherwise within the mod).

*Went to Vegas and completed the first act by skipping the detour with Primm/Nipton/Novac ect. Benny got tricked into going into his own room, got clubbed in the head and then unceremoniously eaten, now his body parts are chilling in the fridge back at The Sink(alongside other important/hated characters). Like I said, this is where I retrieved my gear, that includes my shields and an incredibly OP boss gatling plasma one of my companions is using, speaking of which...

*...got all my companions I want in order, all five of them. This is going to be a Leadership playthru, where I have an entire squad to back me up ala Fallout 2/Tactics.

*Got started on Coito Ergo Sum(one of the best written and designed lore friendly mods for New Vegas, despite being centered around running a porno studio). The mod lets you make quite a bit of passive income and there is an incentive to do quests to upgrade the brothel, either by looking for high level escorts and doing quests for them/doing quests to improve the brothel interior itself to attract more customers or unlock new functions and convincing various female NPCs to pose nude for the magazine via speech checks, rewarding diplomat characters like my own. While looking around in the GECK for the script related to sex to give you the "Well Rested" bonus, I came across pic related, which is pretty funny. The mod is rather well scripted, so if even the mod maker is cursing how shitty and janky the engine is, then it is truly hopeless.

*CES has a main quest of sorts, not going to spoil it but I am about halfway thru that. BTW I do recommend this mod, just like it's F3 prequel mod "Quo Vagis" by the same guy(there is a version for TTW as well).

*Currently doing side quests that don't involve the NCR/Legion conflict since I don't want the two sides pissed off at me before I at least complete the Fort quest with the robot vault and the freebie quest where you kill Pacer for the NCR. After that, I am free to fuck around with the factions as I choose. Right now I just completed "Come Fly With Me" by killing the ghouls(clubbing them to death), since I hate doing this quest despite how much XP it gives you. There is still a reward from Jeanie Crawford despite the game not informing you of this, that is assuming she hasn't gotten her head blown off yet.

Too many games. Mina the hollower just came out, XF (the racing game from spark dev) just went 1.0, every fight game got characters at once. I’ll probably play one of those and then play Onirism splitscreen coop with kids in morning. Onirism far crazier than i expected and one level had a multiphase battlefield level with control points, enter a building and destroy generator, go in a plane (no planes before this level) and take out the air fortress above the clouds, and escort the payload missle to the door. I feel like multiple mechanics will not return in other levels despite it being more than enough for a whole multiplayer battlefield type game.

Long long long week. Want to spend time having fun on the weekend but I got a horrible feeling what plans I coordinate (maybe go to the pool or bike or try to get a ttrpg going) will be thwarted by weather or other peoples schedules, and whatever I do have the ability to do may not get done out of sheer exhaustion from the week. If I wanna table top rpg tomorrow I need to put in effort tonight but part of me is wanting to just sleep.

Yes its my kids, should specified but too used to not bringing up personal life details.
Aside from its huge bugs, its a very solid and easy to play shooter with an absurd amount of variety and splitscreen. Might be my favourite game of last year which is saying something. My kids also like how its main character carol is slightly crazy and bratty and ultraviolent compared to other kid game protags
Yes I know about that mod, let us ignore it and keep them away from it

Still playing Elden Ring. I'm in Leyndell and I'm getting slightly annoyed at the game. I forgot how much normal enemy damage and health scales up in the lategame. On the other hand, bosses can't handle max level spirit ashes or even a decent mage build. The balancing is a mess.

The wonder woman look that boomers and older generations like had to do with a want of sons that looked like that Sea Hunt guy due to how violently masculine we wanted our offpsring to be. It means the women have to be more masculine too. Strong cheekbones and height are needed in women for the look. Modest women put on lots of makeup and clothes anyway so that explains it and when you got married they had a thing over her face originally..

You'll notice in the image that this seahunt guy is fugly, the women have strong cheekbones except for the tallest woman.

The image you are looking at at that other poster is obvioiusly all to do with hypermasculinity. In the 'society's' view being masculine isn't fucking a cute girl, it's fucking a man looking hoe.

If you had that big jaw you automatically were successful it's how it works over here. Why do you think the soyboy meme exists and that people like Jonny Dep run away from here and change their accents to a non-murikan one? Glass jaw and chill personality vs abrasive and large jaw. The US is barbaric. It was founded upon stealing from the Indians and then they went and made taxes anyway. "I'm not like all the other lords".

Fallout New Vegas, finishing my playthru. Got far enough along in the House route to finally piss off the other factions, I am on good terms with the NCR and Legion always jumps straight to sending assassins squads anyways so I can finally do some of the more political quests that would have made them hostile before. Other than that, I am about halfway done with the Beyond the Boulder Dome mod, if you don't know what The Boulder Dome is, it's from cancelled Black Isle Fallout 3 project
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=O_OsClnnYNA
If you've never heard of the mod, this is what they did with the concept
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=kyZMYRKSd-w
It's not the best mod, but it's one of the early big ones. It was hot shit back in the day, not so much now, but I still find it a bit charming, a good couple of hours worth of content.
Oh, and I found a mod that added the removed test cells from the 2010 TGS beta that was leaked a while back, they were deleted from the final game. Not much for those who aren't already versed in the test cells of the final game, but I did notice a couple of interesting tidbits:
>Most of the cells in the final game are mostly untouched templates, which means Obsidian barely did anything outside copy-pasting rooms and adding a bit of clutter/furniture
>As expected, a lot of early test cells use Fallout 3 content
>The template cell for Jean Sky Diving has an unused(?) Very Hard Hoover Dam terminal that talks about needing a remote detonator to blow up a generator. This implies that Jean Sky Diving cell was originally part of Hoover Dam and was hastily added as a minor location in the early game later in development
>Likewise, Elijah's Shack outside Helios One has a lot less clutter(which means devs added it all in manually) and it had two hostile mantises in it. This means that the house was likely just some random ruin and was hastily repurposed for Veronica's companion quest(which is supported by the location not even having a map marker, for all we know it was placed in some other location on the map first).
Here are my screenshots from the test cell spelunking.
