What are you guys playing in this last month of the year? Any game you want to share or warn about? Do you have a "Christmas game" you frequently played in this jolly days? I don´t personally.

Just finished Metroid for the first time. Never played any game of the series or much Metroidvanias at all. But I must say I really like it.

Not knowing where to go and being underpowered frustrated me at the beginning. But I soldiered on and started to find the game quite fun after finding upgrades and new paths.

Some complain I have about the game is that when you are crossing doors sometimes enemies can hit you without the player being able to do anything. That and that the bosses are underwhelming, with not even Mother Brain being much of a challenge (the tubes not appearing again when you destroy them even if you die helped a lot in that though). Overall, the second half of the game is not as hard as the first.

The experience was an adquired taste for me but I ended up enjoying it. Will play the sequel later but for now I´m thinking about what to play next.

I'm playing Diffusion made on the modified Half Life engine Xash3D.
It's kind of mediocre despite good visuals, despite looking like a nice 2006 game with plenty of references to games of around that time, the story and combat encounters are all mediocre and there's fuckall interactivity with the environment, pacing isn't very good either with large stretches of nothing and combat.
At least it rewards you with early weapons and ammo if you explore it's maps.
The 4nd Chapter on an Alien world is probably the peak of the mod with the best combat encounters, portal puzzles and platforming with really good pace.
There's some nice gimmicks like being able to use drones and setting up turrets that you can store as a weapon.
Tons of weapons with various ranges of uselfulness as well.
NPCs are voiced by AI and it's written by a Russian trying to speak English.

Almost finishing it and it's a 6/10.
Going to try Half Life Insecure next.

I don't have a particular Christmas title either, also it's nice to see someone else who enjoys CRT shaders with curvature, I see them get mocked so often that I started to think I was the only one who liked them unironically. I'm mostly playing a couple of Need For Speed titles on PS1, mainly NFS2 and NFS4: High Stakes, also some Winning Eleven 2002 for a bit.

I'm curious about Metroid, especially because I love the Alien IP and it seems heavely inspired by it, might give the OG installment a shot at some point, sounds good for it's time.

2 and Super really focused on refining the basics and you'll have a lot of fun when you get to them since you ended up enjoying the first.
Your critic about the bosses does apply to almost all metroid games, sadly...
And 2 does have some small irking issues because it's on the piece of shit called "The GameBoy".

I will warn people not to play Super Bomberman 2 and 3 meself. The second game can be good fun but the experimental stages will make you want to throw your controller at the nearest dented child and the final boss require esoteric knowledge to know how and when to hit him. Fuck these jump pads I swear to god.
And the third game is good, simple, clean fun until the final world. Where it's quite honestly RNG as to whether or not you will get through it Final boss also included. (Mostly)

Last Half Life related thing I played was the Delta and Prison mods. Both were fun (except Prison´s final boss) and I recommend them if you haven´t played it.

The mods were made by slavs too, so the voice acting in Delta wasn´t the best. But I found it charming in my opinion.

I was playing mainly in handhelds at the time I still had a CRT in my house. So my memories with those is more by watching TV than playing games. To play pre-6 gen games I went with the filter that captures more or less how I believe it would look in my old TV.

It may be a bit hard to get into at the beggining. But I didn´t found it that hard or frustrating and I am not that experienced with NES games.

Just get the manual when you play it. A lot of why normalfags or less experienced players find NES games unforgiving or obtuse is because people don´t recommend also getting the manuals that explains some mechanics. For example, Metroid´s manual explains how to open the red doors and has a minimalistic map of the game´s zones.

With the manual and a bit of perseverance. Is not that hard of a game

The Alien influences are all over Metroid. From enviroments to some monster designs. I really like Ridley´s design of the manual, even if the ingame sprite does not look anything like it.

I do the same, my CRT shader choices are often called innacurate, and they might be, but as long as they're accurate to my childhood memory that's what matters for me. I haven't had much look with Alien titles, the one I like most is Alien 3 on the Game Boy, by Bits Studios, I can't recommend it enough, hopefully when I give Metroid a try it'll scratch that itch. Cheers!

P.S. Also enjoy handhelds more, especially nowadays, playing in bed is the best.

I grew up with a Mega Drive on a small sized Panasonic CRT and I'm fine with dithering and I really don't understand the issue with it. CRTs and filters just reminds me of modern TAA and other post processing effects, blurrying the screen to try and fix graphical issues.

I'd much rather have clarity, plus depending on what CRT you were playing with, the visual experience was very different.
The NeoGeo Arcade screen I consistently played Metal Slug on at the Mall, had a much sharper image and much more visible scanlines compared to the TV I had at home.

Now on my LCD there's a fucking disaster of a menu HUD interface that has to be painfully navigated with shitty buttons and it's not intuitive at all. Then there's a gorillion settings of useless crap. And even with all their bullshit color settings, the black isn't dark enough. The only good thing is the text is easier to read, that's about it. But at that point, why am I even on an LCD, I should be able to buy an e-ink display by now, without paying $1000 for it.

You don't need an expensive Sony or plasma. In the 80's and 90's they made these higher quality 15 KHz CRTs that were designed for use as computer monitors. They had finer dot pitch than regular TVs, so you could legibly display 80 columns of text (with a normal TV, 60 columns text was the maximum that was readable). They were affordable (much cheaper than 31 KHz VGA monitor), and you could plug in game console, or anything else (not just computer).

I'm sure it was good at the time, but aside from the soundtrack and overall aesthetics it has not aged well. I wonder if the fact it made such a stink back then is a reflection of how society has changed over time to grow acquainted to and accept more and more extreme things, because compared to some games today it's rather mild in terms of graphic content.

That is a fair explanation. By the way I finished it just now, I was missing the last 3 chapters. The final chapter was not the kind of climax I expected, didn't quite have enough oomph for a R* game. Overall, it was ok/10. I don't know why I got the urge to play it out of the blue, but here we are. I don't think I want to try 2 since from the looks of it, it's more of the same, and I think I've had my fill with 1.

As a word of advice, do make sure you grind up before the final boss. My party was about level 70 when I beat it and it was still a struggle, and I hear the PSP version of it is even harder.
>>297443
>it was good
The entire game consists of playing hide and seek wherein you wait for NPCs to move into a spot close to your character then play some Indian drama tier cutscene for each guy you down. Moreover the aesthetic's overdone and not genuine, plus you're sharing this quality time with some excitable jew's voice that's more than happy when you kill one of those ebil nahdzees from the second level. If you've ever had the tiniest hint of taste it was never good.

It was the gore. That's literally it, that was the one and only selling point. Enemies didn't blow up into gibs, they had their (for the era and console) realistically modeled brains smashed into bony chunks with a baseball batt. They gurgled in their own blood and they screamed horrifically when you stabbed them.

But that's all there was. The rest of the game was boring and the story was retarded.

PSP or DS versions are generally considered the best.
The DS version is a low-poly 3D remake which adds stuff like cinematics, cutscenes and thought bubbles and increases the difficulty considerably, the PSP upgrades the 2D sprites and increases the difficulty too but not as much as the DS version.
I played the DS version personally and I enjoyed it a lot, and that's coming from someone who generally prefers 2D sprites when I can get them.

Still chugging along very slowly, but surely, with another run of Manall's FF1. I don't know when I will put this game down. Actually I restarted my current run because of yet another recent update with big gameplay changes. Namely an across the board nerf to boss magic resistances.

I like the changes on paper. Major dungeons in this game can sometimes feel like a slog. Not because of length. But because almost every dungeon requires multiple dives to get every treasure + beat the boss. Especially the last two major dungeons. Combining this endgame slog with a boss that's tanky to everything, but the typical Fast + Temper combo on your best melee character, makes the endgame feel like a dreadful chore. But maybe magic users having useful damage output beyond buffing melee damage will speed up these boss fights considerably.

I think I will finally try Magecore Mode after finishing my current Normal Mode run.

The next games that followed didn’t change the formula that was already there, they added a few things but remained very similar.
I’d say that 2 and 4 are the best entries, some like Brotherhood a lot but I don’t see it as an improvement over 2. Black Flag is the most fun for me as its barely an AC game to begin with. The majority of your time will be spend sailing the sea and on simple but enjoyable naval combat, listening to sea shanty and having quite a comfy time exploring small islands for collectibles and a very simple crafting system. Normal on foot combat has been streamlined where even previous games made killing enemies quicker with chain executions and the removal of enemy health bars, with Black Flag they made killing enemies even quicker, but that’s not a bad thing in this entry. Visually the game still hold up very well especially the water effects, the Caribbean pirate setting also worked for me. Treat AC 4 as a game about pirates with a hint of Assassins Creed (story elements, climbing and on foot combat).
Don’t expect a masterpiece with 4 but I always had fun with it.

Personally I don't mind the game having simplified combat or simplified anything really, as I thought certain aspects in AC2 were over-engineered to begin with... And when I ended up playing it I already hated the shit out of ass creed and the game was repetitive as hell, and the city map of kebab land sucks. At least Rome was cool. I also have a copy of AC4 too, that I think i got of some giveaway or something... But I have never played it because I have a burn out with the franchise.... Maybe I should play it one day... but of course I'll pirate it, because is a pirate game, and DRM and launchers sucks. I heard it has coop and it's fun.

that anon is overselling the ship thing, it's fun at first but it gets repetitive incredibly quick and once it does your ship is just means to get to the next mission. also the world is a ubisoft world, meaning it's an empty map full of meaningless collectibles and copypasted side activities that aren't rewarding in the slightest. as for the theme it's hardly an assassin's creed game for about 3/4ths of the game but constantly try to remind you that it is indeed an assassin's creed game and shoehorn it at the end. the "real world" segments are incredibly boring. it is probably the best game up to that point but that doesn't mean it's not a piece of shit in a vacuum.

Each of these games looks different, plays different and has their own aesthetic) nowadays is only for autists that spend thousands of dollars on expensive hardware and setups, at that point I'll just buy a cheap car and drive on a mountain. WHY THE HELL DO YOU NEED 16GB OF RAM FOR A RALLY GAME WHERE THE ONLY FUCKING THING THAT MOVES IS A SINGLE CAR

It cannot be helped the audience shrunk down to non existent because the modern internet basically drives all attention to corporate products and the alternative is indies with no budget or basically made by 1 person who doesn't really even care.
Society is getting dumber by the year while the internet is at risk of becoming a dead shit hole at the rate the policing is going within a decade unless there's some sort magical uturn in culture and society.

Racing games are always a good graphics showcase, it's worth the effort dumping time/money into modeling a car because you can use that model for a lot of different scenarios.
But yeah, the modern racing game scene is trash. To add to that
>Everything is either online only or the offline mode is a gimped afterthought
>No split-screen for casual fun with your friends.
>Pretty girls are not allowed in modern vidya, so no saucy loading screens
>Nothing unique to set one game apart from another
>Censorship of anything fun

I got in the mood for Terminator after the release of Terminator 2D: No Fate. I gave Terminator 2: Judgement Day on Game Boy a run after not playing it for a while and it's still kusoge I just so happen to be fond of, lost against the final boss, and since you only have one life I got sent back to the start, though it's a 15min run so it's not too bad, I'll try again eventually.

I'm thinking of replaying The Terminator on Genesis and Master System/Game Gear too.

I am of the same disposition. IV is one I haven't played either.

I'm playing VII and it's almost a new again after so long. I've worked hard to cultivate my prejudices since the before times and I was kind of sour about leveling Barret until I got to the Temple of the Ancients, then inspiration struck. I equipped him as follows

>Rocket Punch
<Because felon chocobo thieves shouldn't be allowed to possess firearms
>Diamond Bangle
<a little bling bling and his only materia slots
>Chocobo Lure
<being that chocobos are somewhat bicycle-adjacent, a Final Fantasy nigger needs be versed in their procurement
>Destruct paired with All
<For Avalanche protest rallies
>Steal
<he's a nigger
>Either HP Plus or Mog/Chocobo
<swapped in or out depending on circumstance

I almost want to give him Enemy Skill since it's like another form of theft, but over all he has enough utility as is and Barret "nigger chocobo thief" is too valuable a piece of head canon to discard for the sake of grind efficiency.

I have to say he's almost a Wakka-tier commrade for me now. That gorilla paw chain-snatch animation makes me chuckle everytime I have him steal.

Unless you work at steam no. Someone could potentially just redeem the key just to never play it and remove it from their library steam doesn't care and unless you know a insider basically impossible either way most of them are junk.
I've played Perfect Crystal and Cosmic Emerald back to back and now I want to complain about pokemon, its not fun, I mean, going around beating monsters with your monsters is enjoyable, but at some point it stops feeling like an adventure and more like a job.
>Grinding
if you find a cool new mon you need to train it until its viable for the next gym, the game incentives you to use cheat
>Favorite mons
my favorite mons are stuck behind HM areas or stuck in the post-game, for me to get them at a beginning of the game I need to cheat or trade with another player, its counter intuitive to the objective of the game, to go on an adventure.
>Starters
I hate starters as a concept, they are overpowered, you can't find them in the wild, and the game incentivizes to use them and only them.
>Replayability
There is no reason to replay the game because of how linear these games are.
>Combat
The combat is boring and fundamentally broken, I'm sure comp faggots will say its quite complex with intricate designs, no its not, just use high power moves until the other mon faints.
>RomHacks
playing romhacks partially alleviated the problem, but game doesn't feel alive, trainers have the same mons, they don't change mons or capture new mons, the placement of the mons doesn't feel natural, I get the reason behind it, pacing and balance, but its boring, I rather have a fun game than a balanced one.

Trading monsters has always been the most rewarding part of Pokemon, not catching. Which is ironic for a franchise whose motto is "Gotta catch them all".
<obtain any monster at any point in the game through trading
<traded monsters get boosted EXP and grow faster
<it is impossible to complete the Pokedex without trading
At least now you have a wealth of ROM hacks and tools to avoid having to trade. Back in My Day™ you had to play both versions of a Pokemon game and use a special emulator to trade with yourself, that wasn't fun at all.

>>298492
I do agree with most of these points though. They weren't an issue to me the first time I played a Pokemon game but by the 3rd or 4th game they became outright unbearable.
>>298466
>>Replayability
>There is no reason to replay the game because of how linear these games are.
Are you implying that "open world" slop is replayable?
Arcade games are extremely linear, yet they're designed to be very replayable.
Replies: >>298505
>>298504
No, I'm talking about pokemon not arcade games, arcade games are designed to be replayed multiple times, pokemon games is a one and done deal for most players including me, you will always fight the gyms in the same order, you will always face the same trainers with the same mons, you have to hold back for the game to have modicum of challenge, and even then you are stuck with an incompetent and limited combat system.
I'm also not saying pokemon should be open world, that would be stupid, just look at the last two games, but it should non linear and allow the player the build his favorite team in the early game.

I hate the "coolest thing locked till near the end of the game"
It's often one of the main things that attracts me to a game, and I want to play with a companion or a tool or whatever it is, but when you need to play 80% of the game without it to play 20% with it, It's just fucking gay, Just let me play and enjoy it, I think some New game+ can be alright in this regard but the game has to be really good.

It's like they treat these things as rewards for slugging through with less interesting things, but then the core part of the game ends up being without it and you look back and most of your time was just slop. You don't need to give it to me right away, but at least after 30-40% of the game I should be able to earn or gain the shiny toy so I can, yaknow, PLAY WITH THE SHINY TOY.

So why not MUDs too.
The only bad thing is the arcade games aren't as good on text terminal, compared to 1980's computers where you could simply write a byte to video memory and get a character on the screen. The terminal has more lag and odd behaviors, also isn't as nice to program.

I ended up "marathoning" the original Sonic trilogy & Knuckles. I've only played Sonic 1 before, and I didn't beat it. Don't ask me why I decided they're "Christmas games".
I found the first two games to be pretty fun all the way through. However, I did not like Sonic 3 & Knuckles. In the words of Peter Griffin, it insists upon itself. The stages were huge and maze-like (I died to the 10 minute time limit a couple times), filled with bizarre gimmicks and puzzles, which were dishonestly mixed with "fast" sections that were just cinematic smoke and mirrors where you weren't controlling anything.
Sonic 1 and 2 were more organic and honorable. I actually feel like replaying them soon and getting all the chaos emeralds.
This was my fifth attempt at completing Dying Light. Twenty hours in, I finally unlocked the grapple hook for the first time.
And even that could not stop the overwhelming boredom I felt. Fuck this mediocre overpraised garbage.

FF7 and Azure Dreams
I like mystery dungeon and roguelikes, but compared to many other games its exhausting to play, I don't know why.
FF7 made me realize how easy it is to break jrpgs with grinding and the game incentivizes grinding because of the materia AP system. makes me wonder if Chrono Cross the superior JRPG because you can't grind levels, levels is based on the number of bosses you faced, I have to replay CC at some point.

Maggot Baits is the next VN released by Clock Up after Euphoria (iirc) and it's definitely "extreme", but I personally wasn't very much of a fan and wouldn't liken it to Euphoria. Unfortunately, I can't help with any recommendations for something more similar, but I would be very interested in any suggestions someone else could put forth. Isn't the canon explanation that the game is a game show or something like that and nobody actually dies? Pretty stupid, if so.
>you take that back
I won't, because it's true. Most scenes are just taboo fetishes or peepeepoopoo, and the few good scenes are usually accompanied by very middling art. This is definitely one eroge you should play for the story and characters, unironically, rather than the porn, at least unless you're into scat. I used a friend's gamshark to give myself infinite hp/mp, all materia and weapons, and went into the final dungeon of FFVII. My illegitimate victory felt like a curse because I never beat a mainline FF for years. Not until the 2nd or 3rd attempt at XIII.

I finished VII legitimatly, finally. I bred the gold chocobo for the first time too, naming the chocobos after Final Fantasy series cast according to quality.

Good Chocobos were named after VIII cast
Squall Zell Selphie Rinoa

Great were X
Lulu Yuna Wakka Tidus

I think it was
>SquallXYuna
>WakaXSelfie

Then the green and blue were named after XIII cast
>HopeXLightning

It was grotesque.

Yuffie turned out to be great, morphing sources. I had Vincent as a Black Mage, hopped up on tranquilizers in a permanent state of sadness to delay his transformations and the loss of his magic to berserk. Mega All for wide spread casting and multishot attack, then HP Absorb for vampire RP, he was awesome.

I got omnislash and only used it twice, first finishing the Safer Sephiroth fight and then it was the only move of the last fight. It came of as such a cathartic, understated victory. I'm curious if that was by design or just a result of level. I did not fight Ruby or Emerald.

Cait Sith wasn't that bad.

Don't be dense, you know that's not what I mean. The reason why I said you should go thru all the endings is for the story, setting and character interactions. As someone said, there is few games like it, so it's worth going thru a few fetish scenes to see the rest of the game. Personally, I think the "true" route hits you like a brick when you figure out what's really going on behind the scenes, and the game is worth playing just for that. Of course, to get the full experience, you save that for last, so you get the other endings first. Few games got me the same way since, I would love to read a book or a manga that expands on this universe.

I guess you're right tho, the game will always have that stigma just because the devs decided to focus on inserting their own fetishes all over the place, and they're not hiding it. From the moment the game starts, it lays it's cards on the table so there is no escaping it, or rather it lays it out all over the floor to be more accurate. Shame, hard to recommend it in it's state, if they removed the extreme fetish scenes and kept in ero/gore, I think it would have been more successful. Hell, if you toned down or removed ero entirely, you could probably sell this in stores and make a fucking mint, but that's Clockup's loss.

I did not feel the holiday cheer this year, I did not have any family or friends to spend Christmas with and it didn't even fucking snow here this year. I felt the exact opposite of Christmas spirit, and I couldn't even get my Fallout game to work properly(something of a tradition for the holidays for me), so I decided to try something else this year. Better than drinking while watching holiday movies, which was my plan B. On the other hand, this recent playthru did inspire me to create a Fallout build based around the character of Euphoria, so that should be interesting once I finally get Fallout sorted out and working. I like the idea of a morally good character that's really fucked in the head and tends to do horrible things when nobody is looking, should make for a good Cannibal run and I haven't done that in a little bit. I might try it out on one of the classic Fallout games and add the Jinxed trait into the mix as well for shits and giggles.

But then it would be a pretty boring VN honestly

>But then it would be a pretty boring VN honestly
I can safely say that if you removed the poo and pee, you would lose absolutely nothing. It adds no substance to the game, or any of the characters, there is plenty more taboo scenes they could have added instead that don't involve bodily waste(Rinne's route has none of that and it's the second most interesting one after the true ending). Should have invested that time into scripting a better scenario instead, this is the kind of VN that would really benefit from more choices thru out the story for alternative outcomes/alternative endings, maybe even proper game over sequences. As is, the game kind of plays itself after you choose your route at the start, what a waste.

You're right that it might not have done well on Steam, but you could have made a DS port. Quite a few VNs got made for the system(Ace Attorney most famously) and the console was still not dead around that time, and if not the DS then maybe as an early 3DS game. Or hell, port it over to the PSP as well, double dip. That would have required them to remove some of the content(especially on behalf of Nintendo), but you could advertise the "uncut" version on PC and possibly get even more money that way. I dunno, I guess creating a well written world and story feels like a waste when you're going to doom the game to being a joke by inserting a few really extreme scenes, that's not what I would have done if I was in charge of the project.

You're absolutely right, but so am I, removing the extreme content that people laugh at when the game is mentioned wouldn't be a big loss. Like I said, there is an entire playthru you can do that doesn't have any bodily waste scenes, and funnily enough it was written by the second writer, all the other routes were done by the "main" writer that inserted all his weird fetishes into them. If it wasn't for that one route, this wouldn't bother me so much because now the game has a hint of a much more interesting direction it could have taken if it focused more on the conspiracy angle and in being a psychological thriller since that's what that route is basically about(with ero scenes inbetween, obviously). Not like that playthru doesn't have any extreme content either, it's just more palatable since it doesn't involve anything yellow or brown.

Almost finished with DOW2 Chinky Racoon. I screwed up at the last moment and had to fight Techmarine Speigel because I thought I had one more mission to pile corruption on someone else before the choice of who is the traitor gets locked in. (If you've never played it you can pick up spooky evil equips and put them on your dudes to make them heretics, except it doesn't count unless they have enough apparently.)

This is bad because Steve Blum Character #3 rolls up in a fucking tank to murder you while everyone else just has better versions of what they already do. Tried to fight him properly and got run over like a GTA pedestrian, then realized he tries to follow you out of the arena for a bit before returning to the center if you cheese it. Two orbital bombardments later and 80% of his health is gone. I now have a sword that instant kills vehicles when vehicles evaporate if you get behind them with Thule anyway. I miss Araghast already, that guy was a baller.

It's like BLAME!, Armored Core, and girls last tour had a rape baby.
I like it so far, still learning how all the systems work. The environments are vast, customizing your combat loli is fun. A lot of the parts you choose really mix up how you'll play, I got some sweet wheely legs and found a booster that increases your boost speed so I'm zipping around on the speed of sound trying to hit people with my melee weapon, which is kinda jank. The enemies are kinda samey so far, they have different weapons and what not so it' mixed up a bit but it's like 2 leg guy, 2 leg guy with a shotgun, 2 leg guy with a shield, big guy, BIG GUY WITH A FLAMETHROWER. Hopefully I start to see more.
Fun so far.

Unicorn Overlord
I loved Dragon's Crown, and I really liked Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, so I always pay attention to what Vanillaware does next.
I was disappointed by the reveal of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. The game looked boring, and even the art style looked uninteresting—which is rare for a Vanillaware game, so I skipped it.
Although is the lol-calized trans-lation what really put me off.
Unicorn Overlord looked interesting because it was reminiscent of Dragon's Crown.
However, I wasn't sold on the turn-based combat, so I skipped it when it first came out.
I've decided to give it a chance, while still unsure about it.
But so far, I'm loving it.

I already had a smartphone, and getting a cheap controller was cheaper than the alternatives, so it's what I went for, I quite enjoy it because a lot of older handhelds had their limitations in regards to emulation, and you have to buy them used, while most modern emulation handhelds are Android anyways. I also use my tablet and it's nice to play with CRT shaders, reminds me of a 7' or 8' CRT my dad had when I was a kid.

Good goy insult aside, I suppose the hats were made in China anyway even if a raspberry pi is from a white man supposedly, though people make their own cases and such. Then again the chips thye use for controllers and all and lcd screens are still from china if small and handheld, so anyway indeed.

While you're making fun of people from India Emuparadise was made by a pajeet. Back then chinkshit was uncool though. It's a turvey topsy world. Talking shit about India when everyone used to get their roms there as he battled law suits for years. Everyone used to hate Chinkshit consumerists as much as cell phone users. I myself don't like android or pis, nor "phones" and want more opendingux devices to be made. Why should I program it myself or accept android/etc-normalshit into my life? What do people do with smartphones and pis? Pretend to have sex and pretend to make money coding? Call a taxi and go home to your x86/64 true love wherein you actually can concentrate where it's safe enough to even play a game or jack off? You can call that taxi with a dumb phone, a pay phone even. I miss payphones. They were literally free with collect calls, just talk really fast rather than say your name. not that that'd work for a taxi, if you had no money they'd not take you obviously.
>you have a collect call from "2356 oak stree--!!!!"
But yeah... if the thing isn't melted from being overclocked you can repair the pi... and upgrade it more than these chinkshits are going to be upgraded for silly goyim to buy over and over again. If they stop buying it software time bombs will be implimented. You vwill buy a retropie 13 and you vwill like the retropie paystore. I'm honestly lazy though and never use either of the pis I bought, underpowered zero and a type of pi 3, both raspberries.

Still going through Dolls Nest. Game has very little direction. When you get past the start you get 3 areas and are told to go get em champ which I appreciate. In game you're told what to do and to go do it so it sorta fits.
There is someone in game that will give you information on each area when you talk to her but you have to get to the areas first to ask about them.
I have a few different loadouts right now, trying to find out what I really like. I really like my hoverweggies right now, the wheeled ones are cool too. Kinda wish I did this area first. Give you an idea of how massive the place is. It appears I've reached the Blighttown of the game, it's not so bad as long a your speedy baring the massive cannon shooting at you the entire time. There are a few places to dive down into the walls so I'll explore that after I'm done with that asshole.
I've been experimenting with a few different frames to see what I like. Biped is an all rounder, hover is cool because of the jump height and you can glide much better. Wheeled legs are the gottagofast kind. Quad is ok.

The corrosion (poison) isn't so oppressive that it's unpleasant to deal with and using wheelyleggys means I was zipping around fast enough to not sit in it for a long time. The boss was pretty fun, was another Nymph. Then I killed another boss and got the 3 code fragments I needed. There are two areas open to me, one is past some bigeyeball boss I killed and the other is a place that opens up after the code fragments. The depths is really really dark and is a little spooky, I'll need to bring light or something.

Right now I´m giving Chibi-Robo a try. Having played 3 hours of it I´m finding it a bit mixed. It looks really good, having aged quite well for it´s age. And the concept of exploring the house while being tiny interest me.

But it looks like is gonna be a very grindy game. With the thing you are supposed to do to "level up" and get money (cleaning and exploring) becoming soon repetitive and not having much places to explore for now. I don´t know how to get pass the egg soldiers yet. Seems like I´m gonna need a new object or upgrade to get pass them. But I don´t know how so for now I will keep grinding a bit more to see if that´s the solution.

Anyone here knows if the game is gonna keep being this grindy? If I still find it this monotone I may drop it but for now I will see if it gets better, as I find the concept of small thing exploring normal scenarios charming and I hadn´t played something similar since the Toy Story and Flush Away tie-in games.

Good shit. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I played it way back when.
Be sure to check out the sequels on the DS if you finish CR and want more. Park Patrol was fairly different, being about restoring a park via planting flowers(it's way more interesting than it sounds I promise), but still had enough of the core gameplay for me to consider it a solid sequel. It's something you'd have to try for yourself and see if it clicks with you.
On the other hand, Clean Sweep got an English patch not too long ago, and seems to be more of a direct sequel to the Gamecube original. I still have to play it, but it seems promising, at least from what I heard.
There is no Chibi-Robo game on the 3DS. While I'm at it: while I wouldn't have dared donate to the Kikestarter for koROBO if I knew about it during the campaign for it, given that it's the former devs of Chibi-Robo making it and it's being pitched as a spiritual successor to it? I'm wishing them well, and hoping it's in the 1% of Kikestarter games that don't suck shit and/or get fucked over due to external factors. Odds are that something will go wrong, but at least it won't be my money that I lose out on.
>first spoiler
If you want, here's a hint. No spoilers, promise: No grinding is necessary to get past the Free Rangers(the egg soldiers). Keep exploring.
played quarantine zone the last stop you play as a guy that inspects ugly blobs pretending to be human to find out if they are infected/notinfected/maybeinfected
if you played the first couple of minutes you will know the whole game inspect/basediffence/basemanagement/science
insteacp humans to see if they are infected using different tools
defend the base from a horde of zombies using a drone
base management were you buy supplies/fuel
science were you cut the blobs up to discover new infections
and repeat
played the whole day it wasn't worth it, i want my time back, not even worth a pirate

Well I fucked up an NPC quest in Dolls Nest and lost a vendor out of it. I am now really fucking butthurt.
I'll be doing a second playthrough because I wanna check out hard mode but I'm still salty.

started playing tankhead its a fun tank game were you blow up stuff
the only thing that i don't like is that enemies can spawm on top of you to fight you, instead of having enemies roam the area as god intended, aside from that its fun

Im playing Xenonauts after finishing Reaver´s Harmony, im not liking it a whole lot, it seems like a more "Restricted" version of Xcom, you are forced to play in a certain way, you cannot manufacture your own stuff, you are stuck with weak ballistics for a lot longer, it kind of feels like they made this game with the "Vibes" of the original Xcom and not the actual gameplay of it, as if someone who only heard of Xcom but never played it was tasked with making the game if that makes any sense
>>300457
Yeah that was my read on it too, you should try the 40k/Rosigma mod for open Xcom a go, it rocks and will scratch the xcom itch while also giving fun and diverse enemies to fight.

from what I've read the devs disliked certain mechanics from the original xcom, anything that gives humans an upper hand against the alien is a no-no in their eyes, one example, you cannot attack while flying, you have to land then attack.

Finished Tankhead, it was a fun short tech demo.
The game only has 3 maps which tells you to do the same thing, take 2 points to lure the boss. To trick you into thinking it is a long game, the devs force you to do a complete run to finish the game, something that it isn't that difficult since I only died twice to two bosses and at the third map I had resets that let me continue were I left off.
Its a roguelite game were you equip your tank with a LIMITED selection of parts. That means, only wheels, not even a fucking tank tracks.
The part that I hated was the story you were forced to walk while a women that i bet was a nigger but they changed their mind tells you what to do, this shit happens every time to beat a boss, it would be better if it was a fucking cutscene, I just want to blow shit up.
The story is nothing special, country finds mcmuffin ore, mines ore, gets super tech, empire wants some, country says no and wants independence, country kills 6 million military men using mcmuffin weapons, empire keeps pouring bodies until country blows up.
MC wants to go back to blowed up country and gets help from a guy, you get flashbacks of some ether ghosts, but it doesn't go anywhere.
At the end you find out that MC already went to the blowed up country and the guy made a copy of him to keep around to help him, but he needs him in a loop to keep him under control.
I didn't give a fuck about MC, I wish he was silent, since he says the most retarded shit ever.
This game should be free to play on how lacking on everything it has, it likes they had a great idea, but only manage to do a couple of maps, enemies and tank parts, before releasing it.
All in all, if you want to play as a tank that blows shit up and fight giant bosses go ahead, just ignore the story, lore and dialog.

I'm autistic, so after doing this I made sure to go beat the NES version, and it's Mega Drive port, also the unreleased, but nearly finished, SNES port... the 16-Bit ports manage to be inferior as Sunsoft only published it, and handed it out to mediocre developers, compared to the NES one... now, comparing it to the Game Boy? I think I like the handheld version a tiny bit more, as it reminds me of the 1st NES title more, but the NES sequel is also superb, one of the IP's best titles.

I'm the guy who played Euphoria on Christmas because I couldn't get Fallout 4 to load. Well, since then I got Fallout 4 working but I had to patch it in order to get a mod I wanted to try out to load. Good lord, what a pain in the ass, not to mention that individual patches aren't available for Fallout 4 so I had to hunt one down and then manually install it, then update all my mods/plugins. It didn't work 100%, I see some items giving me the dreaded "LOOKUP FAILED!" error even tho it never happened to me before, I will have to do a full playthru at some point to determine if my mods are fucked beyond belief or not. The mod I wanted to play itself was incomplete and kind of shit, but neat for a one-time playthru, so I won't complain there, but if my new version is unstable enough I got the old one backed up on a drive.

Anyways, my detour with Euphoria gave me an idea, so I made a build based off that VN's main character and decided to try out a proper Fallout game with it. I played Fallout Nevada, great total conversion mod for Fallout 2 by slavs, Warlockracky has a good video on it. Anyways, the build turned out to be pretty good, it is mostly a pacifist/non-lethal build that tries to avoid violence as much as possible, but if need be, I let myself use unarmed/melee weapons and thrown/grenades, no guns allowed(If anyone cares that much, I can outline it here for anyone interested in trying it out themselves). Nevada has a a lot of good encounters that allow players to avoid violence if need be, but it shits the bed around the endgame, where destroying extremely tough enemies is pretty much mandatory. The Government Vault forced me to invest in Throwing so I could disable the turrets with EMP grenades, likewise it is impossible to get around the encounter with The President without destroying 2 turrets so pure pacifist builds that cannot fight back might be screwed out of finishing the game. Bad design, the final boss encounter were two bozos in Vault 8 who were guarding the elevator, the armor in this mod is pure shit just like in Fallout 3 and I was torn apart even with Combat Armor(Power Armor is such a pain in the ass to get that it's not worth it and it's barely any better). I had to run around the map to get drugs/stims in order to be in fighting shape to kill these two guys, I can only imagine how tough it is to try and kill every guard in this encounter on the other floors, including the final boss with 500HP, regenerating health and a Gauss Pistol. Thankfully, for pacifist builds or those too weak for the final combat encounter, once you take down the two guards on the first floor, you can sneak over to Graves and finish the game that way(or skip him with a high Lockpick skill, which I didn't have).

Anyways, I am happy with how this run turned out. I played largely in character with how VN's protagonist would, solved most problems without violence(but without being overly sentimental either) and I even managed to bag a few extra kills that were pretty impressive for a build not specialized for combat, including the Legendary Radscorpion(final hit being done with a thrown Sharpened Spear), the Sniper Guard at the end of the Government Vault section, and a few ring arena unarmed fights early on. Endings were predictable, Vegas/Reno/Lovelock/Uranium City fell apart because they kind of had to in order for the later games to make sense, meanwhile smaller communities like Gerlach/Black Rock/Bridgeport prospered. Winds of War turned into a petty raider band with Wesker pussying out and creating some sort of bounty hunter guild instead, and Salt Lake City is the only place that actually grew and became successful in the long run, I guess that's where all the Nuka Cola from the later games is delivered from since they have a factory there. Oh, and there was a drug lab I helped raid right outside of Nipton/Mojave Outpost(looking at the in-game map) that was turned into a pharmaceutical lab, so I guess if it still operates as of New Vegas, that's where a lot of meds come from in the region. Vault itself was saved by me activating the security and tearing the rest of the guards plus the final boss apart, I like to think it's the same asshole turrets from the Government Vault that can tear Power Armor into little pieces. The vault dwellers blamed me for letting in the outside world to them or something and exiled me, but I couldn't give half a shit, my character liked the outside world better to the concrete corridors anyways. Surprisingly, the story of Nevada is very similar to that of Euphoria, especially towards the end of the main quest, so you could say I felt right at home. Heavy recommend for anyone who likes older Fallout games and hasn't tried out Nevada yet, always a pleasure to replay this one.

I am thinking of taking this build further and replay some other Fallout games, see how well it works in every single one. I'm kind of burned out on VNs for a little while, so an RPG will do just fine for me. Fallout 1 is nice and short and also has a lot of content for non-lethal pacifist characters, maybe I will replay that next. Speaking of Euphoria, I managed to download the original non-HD Japanese version of the game from 2011, that might or might not be significant based on what I find since I want to do a little research into it. Right now, I simply don't have the time, but maybe in the future something will come from this, I dunno. I got plans, but I will have to see how feasible they are. For now, I just want to play Fallout again, especially to make me forgot how much they recently butchered it with the godawful TV show.

playing KH again, on expert this time, it's not really all that much different than playing on normal. I was hoping you'd get more enemy spawns, different movesets and different AI on top of stat changes but no, you only get double damage from enemies and that's it, very lazy. with that said they don't make them like this anymore. the amount of care that went into every single aspect of it, art, animations, UI, gameplay, ost and all is nuts. the game still feels completely fresh and 100% stood the test of time, if it released today it would still be a major blockbuster. I'm about 75% into the main story, I'm at the hook boss fight, then I'm off to hollow bastion or maybe the arena I'm not sure if that's unlocked yet.
other games I'm playing:
>fifa street (2012) playing local coop with a friend
>svr 2008 doing 24/7 mode with edge trying to max out the stats and get 100% legend
>svr 2011 doing christian's road to wrestlemania, regal's fight kicking my ass
>harry potter and the chamber of secrets

hotsitting the last two with the same friend

Finally got around to playing(and finishing) Fallout 1. The game itself took me one afternoon and a bit of a morning to finish, which isn't surprising as your average playthru won't take you longer than 10 hours usually, the game is made for replayability first and foremost. Long post ahead, skip if you don't care.

I took the same character as in Nevada(and I will try and port it over to other games as best as possible), the big difference here is that there is a ticking time limit for the invasion thanks to Fallout Fixt restoring the feature, giving me less than an in-game year to finish the game(on top of the Water Chip time limit). Now, you actually have a lot more time than that, but areas of the map, from south to west, get progressively invaded the longer you take, and in order for the canon to stay intact, Lost Hills cannot be wiped out. That said, I think only LA Boneyard(which pretty much always gets invaded thanks to being so close to the Cathedral) and Necropolis(happens automatically after a certain time after you first leave the area) were hit this playthru. This made the already short game something of a speedrun, I had to get the side quests and main quests done as quickly and efficiently as possible, not to mention that I could only take two operations from the Brotherhood due to how much time that wasted(STR + INT, altho PER would have been more helpful due to me never investing in combat skills). Another feature Nevada didn't have were companions, while Leadership builds aren't going to be common until later games, Fallout 1 does have a rudimentary companion system in place, which makes the game easier for pacifist characters like mine. With Fallout Fixt, they can now also freely switch weapons and armor and won't get you stuck in closed spaces like in the original game, so despite not being fleshed out, companion runs are far from being memey builds. I should point out that despite the fact that I played Fallout Fixt, if anyone wants to replay Fallout today, a newer project called "Et Tu" has more features and ported over the entire game to the more advanced Fallout 2 engine. I can't speak for how much better it is over Fixt, frankly I prefer the old Fallout 1 jank, call me nostalgic. I had zero crashes and minimum bugs, so as far as I am concerned Fallout Fixt is still fine to use today.

As for the playthru itself, I got off to a bad start when I crippled myself, twice, when trying to defend myself from the rats in Vault 13 cave. I tagged Doctor so I was able to patch myself up, but this was a bad omen if I couldn't handle the easiest enemies in the game without a problem. I was right, Jinxed trait is either more dangerous to the user in Fallout 1 or I was simply more unlucky, vast majority of the time it was me who suffered negative effects in combat rather than the enemy(I lost count how many times my character was either crippled or dropped his knuckles to the floor, forcing me to pick them up and put them back in my active inventory again, wasting an entire turn). Suffice it to say, I made a mistake of focusing on unarmed combat with Jinxed, very inefficient. Thankfully, I had companions this time around, Ian and Dogmeat for the early to midgame and Katja for the late game. I didn't bother with the Shady Sands quests or Vault 15 and headed straight for Junktown to make some money, Ian and Dogmeat made short work of the already wounded Killian but my character is useless in unarmed combat even with a set of Brass Knuckles. It will only get marginally better going forward.

Hub was the main area for content for me. I did all the Decker quests for more cash, Ian and Dogmeat were surprisingly deadly by themselves(altho Dogmeat died when trying to kill Jain in quest 2, alongside some kid thanks to Ian's itchy trigger finger, which branded me as a "Childkiller"). I betrayed Decker for a little bit of extra cash to the Sheriff, altho the fight was too hard for me and Ian so I had to go get Katja first. Ian died in that fight, but Kane's body gave me a set of Spiked Knuckles, which actually let me do some damage to weak to medium sized threats. This was my best weapon I used this playthru, as this is not a combat oriented build. Like I said, I was on the clock, so I went to Necropolis + Brotherhood and then back to Vault 13 as to not waste time. I was able to avoid all combat aside from a few rats in the sewers, high Repair skill allowed me to repair the water pump and Harry didn't even bother second guessing why I was at the shed thanks to my high Speech.

In order to defeat The Master with a Diplomacy Boy build I had to gain access to Lost Hills, so I had to go to The Glow. While there is plenty of loot in there, none of it really concerns this character(I used the money to buy Combat Armor in The Hub, which meant I didn't have to descend into lower levels of The Glow). At this point in time, with Katja's 14mm Pistol and my Spiked Knuckles we were able to actually get a drop on most human enemies and even some more dangerous mutant creatures, altho I did have to use drugs once in a while. Haven't forgotten how busted they were in the older games, I wouldn't be able to finish Fallout Nevada without them and there is little else to spend money on at this point in the game aside from dirt-cheap chems and stimpacks. Speaking of which, I was able to turn Iguana Bob over to police, a cut quest from the original game. Turns out that Fallout Fixt lets you restore small amounts of health from eating Iguana related items now, and the abandoned stall is lootable and has nearly two dozen food items once he gets arrested. Not a bad reward.

Last leg of the main quest had me going to The Brotherhood to get the disk needed to defeat The Master alongside other goodies like Power Armor. I wanted to upgrade it, but when I made it to The Boneyard, every NPC including children were already slaughtered by the mutants(a feature restored thanks to Fallout Fixt and it's invasions system). With Gunrunners gone, there was no need for money anymore, so I went over to the Cathedral. Obviously, I went with the infiltration route by equipping the robes, at this point I realized that the diplomacy/rogue builds were heavily incentivized to tag Lockpick, something I completely ignored. Thankfully, Lasher can simply give you the key to access the tower, but without Lockpick of 100 or so, I had to either kill or let myself be captured by Morpheus in order to reach the lower levels. Other than that, everything proceed according to plan, high Speech meant Master only took one try to be convinced to self-destruct, nobody bothered me in the robes and my high Science skill let me get extra xp + location of Mariposa. Since I had so many drugs on me, I decided to face the rough guards in The Hub who had the Brotherhood initiate captured, one of the toughest fights in the game and the only way to get the second suit of Power Armor(for Katja). I actually killed those guys before I went over to The Cathedral, but I didn't have enough Lockpicking to open the door. I thought you could throw grenades on the door to blow it up, like in Fallout 2/Nevada, but apparently the Fallout 1 engine didn't support this feature. Had to leave the poor guy starving and dehydrated for a few days and used my level up from blowing up the church to improve my Lockpicking skill. There was another problem, I actually had a really low karma thanks to helping out pretty much every evil NPC in the game up until this point, so I had to quickly get some positive karma in order to unlock Power Armor as a reward for the quest.

The best way to get karma early on is to actually just kill the radscorpions for Shady Sands, something of a joke with how powerful me and Katja were at this point. BTW, since Katja was using Combat Armor given by the Brotherhood, she was using the same spriteset as the main character when she wears it, which means she can theoretically use any weapon in the game instead of a few select ones when she wears other sets of armor, thanks to Fallout Fixt. This meant the Combat Shotgun from the rough guard was hers for the taking, and she is much more effective with it than with an SMG or a 14mm Pistol. She made short work of anything aside from end game threats like deathclaws or mutants, but thankfully we didn't have to fight these during my playthru(I played around with various encounters to see how viable the two of us were in combat at this point, but I reloaded the game afterwards since there was no point in wasting time + resources). Just in case my karma level wasn't good enough, I wiped out The Khans and freed the slaves there, which was almost as easy as the scorpions at this point in time. Funnily enough, Katja didn't even need any power armor since we would never fight anything else in the game past that point.

Mariposa was almost as frustrating as Vault 8 in Nevada, I thought I was softlocked. The main door is locked and there was no way I could break open the lock with my lack of skill. The only way to get past the door directly is to either pickpocket or kill the mutant at the front door, neither of which I was capable of doing even with the radio trick to lure the other mutants out. I tried getting captured and running away from Lou to get to the self-destruct computer, but either I remembered how this worked wrong or Fallout Fixt changed the encounter, as running away from Lou causes the base to go on high alert and him going immediately aggro, no matter how far away you are from him. You cannot use the computer in combat, and I couldn't take him on in combat either. Thankfully, Katja has a hidden ability to pickpocket 2 locks in the game, and one of those is the main door to the base. Funnily enough, the mutants ignore her and the other companions(unlike the infiltration in The Cathedral), so I was able to proceed thru the base normally once I made my way inside. I didn't even need to use the radio as a makeshift forcefield switch, a rare reward for Science users, since I never raised any alerts. Really weird bit of bad game design towards the end, you would think that if you were able to fool the guard at the front gate that you are with The Cathedral you could also convince him to open the door, but I guess the game just intended you to tag Lockpick, something I definitely should have done over Science.

Overall, I'm disappointed how little pacifist content there was in this game, despite pacifist playthrus being a standout feature at the time, but maybe it was just me going out of my way to tackle the most violent ones first. The main quest was rewarding for this playstyle, altho I wish there were more options for those who didn't specialize in Lockpicking, alternatively Katja should have been able to just lockpick any door in your place if she's in the party(similarly to how companions in Fallout 2 can use Science or Repair in your place, if your skills are low enough). If I played the game again, I would either remove Jinxed trait, as this time around it was more of a nuisance than anything(took the Mutate perk just to get rid of it late game), or at least specialize in different skills, Doctor and Science were only marginally useful while Unarmed/Throwing/Lockpicking have more universal uses. Normally, I would play another mainline game now, but I am feeling adventurous. I am going to play Fallout Tactics with this same player character next, with Speech being replaced by Repair. Due to how different this game is than the mainline titles, it will be very interesting to see how a character useless in combat will handle a game that is 95% squad based combat. Then again, Doctor will actually be a useful skill to have, invaluable in fact, so I will finally be using this skill for more than just mending my own limbs every other fight, when I accidentally break them due to critical failure rolls. This will also be the first time I will do a proper Leadership build, even tho it was technically introduced in Fallout 2, and I will be honoring the same rules as that game(1 companion per 2 CHR points, which means only 3 other squadmates in my case, maybe a 4th one if I take Mentats).

When I played F1 I pick Jynxed, but I also put 10 points in Luck, so it ended up being more for my benefit than the enemies'. Despite making a combat build, I had explored the game enough that in the end I defeated the Master with Talk no Jutsu as well. I think I had finished it in the nick of time and that it took me way more than 10h IRL, but that was several years ago, so I don't remember too well.

You got really unlucky, I think I got crippled once at the very beginning with the Scorpions.
Never again after subsequent playtroughs, had to use Doctor once and never had to tag it.

I had like 3 Endurance since I usually go for an Agility and Perception build.

Almost done with the game now, just beating the shit out of a few Stray Dolls then going to do the final boss. I do want to do another runthrough in hardmode just to see how it is. Also I am still butthurt I messed up a questline. The game clearly was running out of money as a few questlines feel really unfinished but they did well with what they had.

I think it is. It's the studios first try at something like this so it can be a little rough around the edges, no major jank levels but you can tell it was on a budget in some places. They work with what they got and it works real well

I haven't touched 3, but I wouldn't particularly recommend this one, let alone as a starter, unless you particularly cared about the story. the action card battling thing is an interesting concept in theory but I just find it frustrating in practice. just play the original, if you haven't. I'm going through it it solely because I remember playing 2 and being very confused as to what the fuck was going on and chain of memories has key plot elements that fully flesh out what happens between 1 and 2. I was mostly praising the overall presentation rather than the card gimmick.

Well, I wasn't planning on being a combat oriented character at all, but the way quests are designed in F1 you kind of have to be the "good guy" in order to play like this, it seems characters who want to work for baddies and earn more cash just have to do the dirty work with little else in the way of choice. Normally I wouldn't bother, but the power level in Fallout 1 is so low, minus the end game and a few choice encounters, that you can easily let Ian and others do most of the work for you with minimal involvement. If nothing else, it's good to know that even a completely useless combat build like mine can be of use and do these quests.

I started Tactics, and good news is that Jinxed is simply not viable, since it doesn't work apparently. I used editing tools to give myself another trait in it's place, one normally reserved for Deathclaws(and only one recruit in the single player, at that). It's actually really good since you gain 2 free SPECIAL points(you gain INT but you can re-distribute these points wherever you want) in exchange for -10 flat unarmed damage. This does NOT effect melee damage, and for whatever reason tagging Repair gave me a free crowbar at the start. It's like it was meant to be, this character that is supposed to be a complete civvie that can't aim a gun straight is now more or less a brutal CQC fighter right from the start, this build is so strangely effective that I pump this guy full of chems and let him go to town in every mission, now that I raised Melee Weapons and got some good weapons(Micro Sledge/Cattle Prod) you would never know this was supposed to be a pacifist build. I'm at Quincy right now, so we will see just how viable this build is, since this is where the game takes a sharp difficulty spike, at least if you want to complete all the side objectives(mainly due to the mission being full of hostage situations where friendly NPCs can't get hurt, so going in guns blazing won't work).

Alright let me try.
Blame!, darksouls, armored core, and Girl Last tour had a rape baby.
Gameplay is a little like Older Armored core titles. You aren't a big mech though, you are a combat robot wearing a Frame Unit that you can customize with different weapons and parts. You can also play dressup with your Doll proper if that floats your boat. we know it will

The parts selection is broken up into Legs of which there are different types such as hover legs, wheely legs, biped, etc. Hanger which is sorta like the body. Thruster which again there are different types. And utility which gives special abilities. In addition there are two hand weapon slots and two hanger weapons which are like shoulder weapons from Armored Core.

I've heard the game compared to demons souls with it's level layout. There is a hub location and 3 initial areas you can go to. As you explore these areas you'll find new areas within them. Generally two levels per area but iirc one has 3. These often have shortcuts in them to decrease travel time as you explore and each has a "node tree" in a central area that these act as a fast travel, There are smaller shortcuts in levels that you unlock as you go. Levels appear very vast and do justice to the scale of Hod. They can be pretty large to navigate and you're often just plopped in and explore until you figure it out but they do a good job of trying to guide you on the right track. Something like an item placed to catch h your eye or a wall light that you'll be drawn to.

Enemies will change up depending on what zone your're in but this is where the budget shows. A lot of them share the same body type, they will have different weapons so it does mix it it up and not throw the same thing at you over and over but you get a lot of two leg guy and 4 leg heavy. This does mean when you see something unique it's fun to find out how it will smash your face. Enemies generally have a weakspot in the back this includes you :^), and if it's not there then it's somewhere on their body.

Guns are varied and you get melee weapons. These are like oldschool AC ones they are a little finicky, one you figure them out they are really fun to use. For reloading you have a BP Meter which is something like mana. Some weapons are BP efficient, some suck. This means that while that grenade launcher is fun to use you might find yourself out of BEEPEE in a fight. Its k though, just eat a little snack and your Bullet organ will be squirting out 5.56 again in no time.

I feel like I'm terrible explaining things. Here is my current doll, shes cute and spunky and mostly vanilla because I never messed with the defaults outside hair and outfit. Also what the loadout screen looks like. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

TLDR; Game is fun, budget as it's their first attempt but you can tell they really wanted to create something they wanted to play. It also saved the company and is going to get a manga or something soon.

Finished Fallout Tactics, here are my thoughts on this playthru. Since you have more than one playable character, I will just describe each of my squad members and their playstyles, that should cover more or less my thoughts on this playthru.

>Dean
My player character, same build as in the last two playthrus except that Speech was replaced with Repair. Very useful character, he was the squad medic and mechanic, surprisingly he was also very effective in combat as well unlike in the last two playthrus. Right off the bat I was given a Crowbar due to tagging Repair, which is a tier 2 melee weapon, and it only got better. I ended up using a Micro Sledge(with an upgraded variant I modded in for the later game to deal with robots) and Cattle Prod for most of the playthru with throwing weapons for ranged use. Spears and other throwing items are gimmicky as it is a pain in the ass to retrieve them from the ground and sometimes they get lost in the isometric mess that is the battlefield, usually blending in with a corpse. Still, spears are pretty useful and I once again modded a few weapons to be usable even for the later chapters, like the Piston Spears that are now end game items. Of course, grenades are always a better choice, and there is a good amount of them(as well as a type for every encounter, like EMP grenades for robots) so that you can easily main them for the entire playthru. I made liberal use of drugs for this run, mostly Buffout/Psycho/Afterburner, so my dude was one formidable fighter at close range. All in all, very impressed with this character, despite not even being meant to be used in combat at all, I think this is easily one of my most efficient playthrus yet

>Doc
After an unfortunate incident involving Stitch getting ambushed by a sniper in the first mission, I needed a replacement. This is a modded in recruit, he's in the game's demo/tutorial. He focused on First Aid(while Dean focused on Doctoring) and being a combat support unit. At first he filled in for Stitch, that is to say he used a Double Barrel Shotgun, but eventually I made him a sniper when Farsight switched over to an Assault Rifle, using an M14 for most of the game(once again, buffed because weapons are insanely imbalanced in this game). The M14 is able to put holes in any living opponents up to armored Super Mutants and Powered Armor, with only robots forcing Doc to finally switch to a Gauss Rifle. He was the one who killed The Calculator(sniped before I even got into the final area, never had to fight the last few waves of enemies) and done most of the ranged work towards the end of the game, especially when my heavy Toni died in Vault 0. Overall, a great character, hall of fame recruit for sure.

>Anita
One of the three modded in recruits using the "citizen" model. Idea for them is that they would provide non-combat roles like bartering, lockpicking ect. so that rest of my squad mates can focus on more combat oriented skills, while they stay behind and avoid combat due to their inability to wear armor or use most weapons. She is the last of the three, Joy was a failed experiment in creating a medic(these NPCs cannot use medkits for whatever reason), Wench was a stealth oriented character(died when trying to ambush a Super Mutant, unfortunately he was in Overwatch Mode and blew her to pieces right as she threw a grenade at him that did the same). Anita is a Barter specialist with optimistically tagged Unarmed and Throwing as well(to be fair, she did get a few kills with both kinds of weapons in this playthru). Aside from doing most of the trading during this run, she also specialized in Piloting(letting me to properly do a Piloting build for once, I buffed the vehicles so they have some durability and can be brought into missions) and Lockpicking. Great support character, she filled in the role that my character was supposed to, ironically enough, but also has shown that you can have a useful squad member in this game without even giving them armor or good weapons and still have them pull their weight.

Honorable mentions for the fallen soldiers:
>Stitch, see above
>Farsight, died in Kansas City to an unfortunate grenade thrown at her feet. Originally a sniper, I gave her an AK 47 and she was the heavy for the entire early and a bit of mid game.
>Joy, died in Mardin due to a shotgunner ambush. She wore no armor, was torn in two, surprisingly good Thrown Weapons user.
>Wench, see above. Died in Kansas City, just like Farsight.
>Alice, short lived replacement for Farsight that only lasted for the next mission, Jefferson. Great Big Guns user, unfortunately didn't account for how much damage critical hits from Miniguns can do.
>Billy Bob, a ghoul who can't wear most kinds and armor and was therefore very vulnerable, but still kicked ass all the same. His shotgun took down foes much more dangerous than him, that includes more than a dozen Super Mutants. Died when a couple of Reavers ganged up on him with Plasma Rifles in Junction City, his armor unfortunately had next to no Energy Resistance and he was melted into goo. Very useful stats, unfortunately he had a "Glowing One" trait that irradiated all my nearby squad members and was a pain in the ass to get rid of, then as soon as I did he died.
>Toni, replacement for Billy Bob who lasted all the way until the rest of the game. Super Mutant, Big Guns user, carried around a .50 cal Browning M2 that tore up everything in it's path up to and including mech grade robots, only problem is how heavy her ammo was, making every burst tactical and a pain in the ass to resupply. Had to grab weaker enemy Big Guns like M60s or M249s during missions when ammo ran dry, or even use the Piston Spear in a pinch. Great resistance to damage despite not being able to wear most armor, nearly on the same level as Power Armor, great addition to a Piloting build since her lack of mobility is her biggest problem. Died in Vault 0 to a Minigun critical, Doc and Dean had to finish the fight.

All in all, very interesting playthru. I would think that this build would be a disaster in a combat heavy game like Tactics with no pacifist options, but I ended up having a lot of fun. Hell, Dean ended up being quite a beast by the end, killing robots with primitive weapons like clubs and spears, pretty badass. I am glad I was able to test out the Piloting build during this playthru, I think I balanced out the vehicles so that a frontal assault in all missions that support them is now a viable tactic, in the vanilla game vehicles are a gimmick and they have a very low health pool with no armor, making them pointless to use as anything other than transport.

I think I want to play a 3D Fallout game next, but it would feel wrong to skip straight to New Vegas or Bethesda titles without even playing Fallout 2 first. Apparently Fallout London, which released about 2 years ago, takes place around that point in the timeline, so just like Tactics one can consider it a spinoff set between Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Fallout London uses Fallout 4 as a base so it will be interesting to see just how viable a proper pacifist build is, and this time around without a squad to back me up like in Tactics. I remember that the early game of London specifically doesn't give you any good weapons, armor and makes you temporarily extremely weak due to a spinal injury that takes several main quests to get rid of, so this should be fun.

I just finished the Game Gear Taz-Mania and, while it's worse than the Master System and Game Boy titles I played before it, and I can tell why it's critically panned, especially the OST... I guess I have a high tolerance for kusoge because I thought it was perfectly playable and even fun at time for what it was, it's a 10min title that's easy to lose all of your lives in, so it's genuinely all about mastering those 10min. The last few levels, where it's an actual platformer it was kind of fun too.

Gave up on Chibi-Robo. The game wasn´t clicking with me, not having any interest to continue playing further since weeks. Probably will give the game another chance in the future, as I think the motive I´m dropping it is on me not having the right mindset to enjoy it right now.

After that I decided to start playing Onimusha 2 (in an original PS2 copy, not that shitty censored "remaster"). Played the first one the past year and enjoyed it, so I recently got the second and third game, having heard good things about both.

First hours leave me with a good taste of mouth. The basic gameplay (a mix between classic RE, tank controls included, and hack and slash) is similar to the first one but with more weapons and moves. It also has the player against more enemies at the same time, at least in comparison to what I remember about the first game. The combat it still pretty fun with the new moves and weapons, though it carries the same problem as the previous game that some of the fixed camera angles can be pretty annoying during combat, especially in tight spaces or when it changes angle mid-combo.

The character models and animations looks astonishingly good. Though some of the backgrounds can be so dark that it can be hard to see if there is an enemy or not sometimes.

The companions you find along the journey are quite charming. And I´m enjoying the gift system too.

For now the game is on track to be the kind of sequel where it arguably surpasses the previous game, being a very solid improvement to what already was a pretty solid game.

I fucked up playing Onimusha 2 and wrote my only save at a point where I had almost no health or healing items. I have to fight a boss and can´t go back to recover. Ended up burning out and dropped out the game for now. Will get back to it later though, this time using more saves so I don´t screw up again.

Now I´m far into Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and I really like it. I love the art style from the character portraits and animations to the enviroments. The story and characters are pretty good so far, the soundtrack is great and the puzzles are alright for now, with most being quite simple and straight-forward but with some that really ended up scratching my head. I spent an entire day trying to solve the coin puzzle the eye patch old lady gives you. Felt like an idiot after finding out how simple the solution was.

I found impressive how it uses the DS to emulate a notebook, with no needing to any buttons to play at all without feeling gimmicky. Fun experience that I hope it mantains until the end of the game.

Poked around in Forever Winter again. They have done a few updates to the tunnel system and economy that I like. Biggest issue is figuring out where to find things I need. I really need to upgrade my base. There's some new vendors and some lady hiding in the tunnels and new hub quests to mess with I'm trying to run through.

Also Angels Fall First randomly got an update and they are gearing up to 1.0 so I might screw around in that again.

Finished Hotel Dusk today. It was a nice experience. The story and characters were very engaging. Though there are some thing I found a bit iffy about the plot.

Summer, Helen and Alan´s plotline not only isn´t really solved. But also doesn´t seem to connect with the rest of the game´s story at all. The only way I can think it relates is by maybe foreshadowing that, just like Summer wasn´t the true writer of his first novel, there was another painter behind Osterzone works. Jeff´s story also didn´t connect with the main plot, but one can argue it shows how well connected Nile are. Those stories, while not bad, feel like filler in retrospective.

The puzzles were ok. Fuck the basement though. To unlock the box with the letter I had to check the combination number by number because I didn´t have a clue about the solution. The artstyle and soundtrack is pretty good, giving it an elegant yet comfy atmosphere.

I heard this has a sequel that it´s as good, if not better, than this one. So I will check it out later.

I´m doing my part
Started playing Digimon world:next order. I like the little callbacks to world one like the remix of Machinedramons theme or when you fight ogremon it uses the OG boss theme.
Really appreciate the QoL stuff like the dojo to lock in evos. Im torn between grinding my mons or just gyming them but I cannot deny the effectiveness of combat grinding. Shame it takes a while to do
Once I beat it might check out time stranger. Its good to be a digifag right now.

Completed a full playthru of Fallout; London using a similar build to my previous recent runs. This was a bit of a shock, considering I only played the isometric titles up to this point, so not only did I make a jump to 3D but also the more action oriented style of Fallout 4, with minimal RPG mechanics compared to the older titles. Still, at least London has traits and skill checks compared to Fallout 4, so it has some role playing elements to speak of. Suffice it to say, this was a surprisingly fun run that was strangely similar to how my isometric games went, right down to a special piece of legendary armor that made enemies drop their guns after attacking me ala the "Jinxed" trait.

Before I go further, I somewhat accidentally documented much of how my playthru actually went in the Friday Night thread. Here are the archives of these threads:
https://archive.vn/SOzPQ
https://archive.md/1KhHI
I will provide a screenshot with all the relevant London snippets in the spoiler post if you want to read up on how my character's journey looked like. Below, I will provide my closing thoughts about the game itself and how this build compared to my previous playthrus(Fallout 1/Nevada/Tactics) so far:

This is still Fallout 4 at it's base, so pacifism is all but impossible and stealth is a gimmick, inevitably you will come across a dungeon or an enemy you will just have to kill. Actually, the game throws a dungeon full of leeches(new enemy) very early on, and you are weakened at that so non-combat builds aren't really viable. In general. Actually, many quests, even main quests, come down to just having you fight something, which is disappointing but then again, not much more you can do with this engine. London does a good job of being an actual RPG, a weird hybrid of Fallout 3/New Vegas and Fallout 4, but the latter is still the dominant strain of DNA. If nothing else, at least the early game is genuinely hard, just like in the older titles, you will become extremely powerful before long anyways but at the very least most builds will struggle at least thru out the first act of the game. Just like in my other playthrus, I stuck to three weapon types: knuckles, clubs and thrown/grenades for ranged encounters. I was rather disappointed with the selection for the former two, the cattle prod you get from an early boss was pretty much my go to for most of the game, until I got a legendary variant, later I modded in Love & Hate from New Vegas which ended up being my main for the rest of the game. I also modded in the paddle ball from Nuka World DLC(legacy content), it's mostly a joke weapon but it is surprisingly effective if you know what you're doing: the bladed variant stacks bleed damage fast, meanwhile the nuka variants(which you normally need Science perks to craft, something I never invested in, but they can also be found in shops with the nuka mods already added in) explode on impact, with the quantum being the most destructive. This presented a hilarious scenario where I essentially had an explosive weapon with a slightly higher range than melee, letting me blow up enemies same way I would with a rocket launcher using a strict melee build. The quantum variant was very useful and definitely more than a meme, the only downside is that this weapon uses ammunition so I had to buy/craft paddle ball strings once in a while. While Hate was my unarmed weapon of choice, I only partially invested in that skill and instead went all in on all the ranks of melee weapons, which in turn made them AoE weapons that hit everything around them. Eventually, my cattle prods were replaced by a main quest weapon, "Palm Greaser", which you get after being "bribed" by one of the rather incompetent Camelot NPCs. Once modded(I fully invested in melee weapon modding perks), the weapon did ridiculous damage, crippled the enemy, was armor piercing and did quite a bit of poisoned damage per hit, on top of the AoE from melee perks. This proved so destructive, that I had to reserve the Palm Greaser and the Quantum Paddle Ball for special occasions, sticking with Hate for most of the playthru once I found the weapon.

Thrown & grenades were a secondary weapon of choice, only limited by how many I could find/buy/craft(I fully invested into Demolition perks so I could craft grenades). Fallout 4 introduced a dedicated grenade button so I no longer had to chose between melee or thrown, frags are self explanatory and molotovs did a good job of taking care of enemies that couldn't afford a timed fuse. Additionally, I got a few more modded in thrown weapons, such as the strangely effective(and satisfying to use) thrown weapons, which include spears, and various types of explosives(including dynamite, incendiary grenades and tin grenades from New Vegas). Everything from Fallout 4 that I didn't mention also came back, with a notable addition of floater grenades you get from an Angel faction quest that do ridiculous amounts of damage within it's AoE. The game even brings back the Holy Hand Grenade, which does exactly what you think it does. Overall, I ended up being much more effective in combat than I thought I would, just like in Tactics, and ended up being more of a Combat Boy than a Diplomat Boy or a Stealth Boy, which I might as well be considering what I said earlier about how Fallout 4 runs with these builds are all but impossible anyways. London is no different.

There are a few pacifism friendly perk choices: there is a perk that gives massive XP increases towards any skill check(with the third rank, you get more XP from each check than you would from completing your average quest), like wise both hetero and gay perks from New Vegas are back(Black Widow/Lady Killer and Confirmed Bachelor/Cherchez La Femme). Just like in that game, there is no reason not to take them, and additionally many misc perks will also situationally be able to defuse a combat encounter or skip a quest stage. Same goes for high INT and CHR stats, both of which seem to be primary skill checks for avoiding combat. These are all gimmicks, however, just like I said sadly there is no way to play a true pacifist, every character will have to be skilled in some sort of weapon, which is disappointing and why I dedicated such a large portion to my equipment loadout in this post. For what it's worth, I did get most of the pacifist options presented to me so you can skip quite a few encounters if you want to, which is nice.

Normally, your end game armor in Fallout titles tends to be some sort of suit of Power Armor, sadly London did away with those entirely. Instead, you not only have to use normal armor the entire way thru but for the entirety of the first act your character is debuffed as well, making for a cruel early game. I ended up going with modded in outfits for flavor, you can see how they look in the screenshots, my main outfit also accepts ballistic weave and armor pieces. My armor pieces fit my gamestyle: Cavalier let me take less damage as I rush the enemy(perfect for melee only runs like this), Assassin is a no-brainer which lets me take less damage from human enemies(most common type of enemy in London), likewise the ghoul equivalent helped me against the second most common type of enemy in London. Normally, this armor piece would be a waste as ghouls are nothing more than a nuisance most of the time in Fallout 4, however with a weaker player and no power armor(not to mention my melee centric playstyle), this armor piece really did save my ass quite a few times, making straight up brawls against ghouls viable. Sprinter is another no brainer, as it lets me run faster and synergizes well with both Cavalier and my melee centric gameplay style in general. Lastly, I got a duelist piece, which is the most fascinating one of all: it is supposed to disable melee enemies who attack you 10% of the time, but this effects ALL enemies, that includes one that use ranged weapons. This means that someone using a gun could drop it at any point in time, those who use automatic weapons will almost certainly drop it after only one or two bursts, and those who use flamers will drop it automatically since the game reads damage as ticks, ie it registers a hit several times per second with these kinds of weapons, and each attack has a 10% chance to force enemy to drop their weapon. This mirrors the Jinxed trait from Fallout 1 and Nevada playthrus nicely and makes it one of the most busted armor pieces in the entire game, theoretically upping that chance from 10% to a whopping 50% per hit if you go all in and equip every Duelist piece you can. Overall, I am very happy with my choice of armor, both in how it looked and functioned, meaning that I didn't really miss Power Armor all that much.

I outlined the various eccentricities and notes on my actual Wayfarer's personality and perks/traits in my Friday Night snippets, so as to avoid repeats I just want to say I am very happy with how this turned out, and am glad I was able to replicate the playstyle I had in the isometric games in the 3D one. I can already see how I will go about playing the other 3D titles, if I decide to take this build all the way there, but in a vacuum this playthru was a lot of fun as well. In general, I suggest people pick up London for a nice price of absolutely free as well, people call it a mod but it is pretty much Fallout 5 in all but name, it is a complete title that competes with any mainline 3D entry in the series. One can pirate Fallout 4 and simply install the mod, it should work right out of the box(and failing that, I think the pirate sites just straight up pre-pack Fallout 4 with London for you as well, so all you have to do is just download and hit "play"). Pretty much all Fallout 4 mods work as well, which is why I was able to add whatever I wanted from that game so easily into my playthru. The only problem I had were the endless technical issues: bugs, crashes, frame rate drops/lack of optimization, unfinished content and other janky oddities, this is very much a rough product. Granted, I am playing the 1.0 release and the newest version supposedly fixes most of these issues, but it is still unacceptable how rough the launch version of the game is, it makes unpatched Fallout 2 and New Vegas look competent. Just the crashing alone almost ruined the experience, I can't recall how many times it happened but it easily reached over a hundred by the end of my playthru, I shit you not I could crash 5-8 times within an hour and there are spots I learned not only crash more than others but also crash consistently(with at least a couple of spots being nearly unplayable due to how often and consistently they crashed the game). The general consensus is to "install Buffout 4"(baked in with the latest release of the game), but it didn't do squat for me, definitely not acceptable state to release the game in. I got a particularly nasty bug about 30% of the way thru the game where music just straight up stopped playing, leaving me to play the rest of the game in silence. This is quite a shame as the music composed for the game is actually really good, both the ambience and the original radio tracks, so while playing the game with no music was definitely more atmospheric, I lost out on a lot of good ambience I could listen to while exploring. Again, most of this should not be a problem for you, if one downloads the newest version of the game today, but it was a problem for me and definitely one of the lowest points in my playthru anytime I had a crash to desktop.

That said, I think I am just about tired of Fallout 4 for the time being, even with this superior, more traditional take on it that London spins. There is one isometric title I haven't played yet and so I will start a Fallout 2 playthru tomorrow, see if there is going to be a big problem going back to the old mechanics and isometric gameplay style when compared to the new modern take on the franchise I have been comfortable with for over a month. Not quite burned out on this franchise just yet, and I doubt it will happen during this playthru as I fucking love Fallout 2.

I'm replaying TECMO World Cup '93 on SEGA Master System... which is odd because there was no World Cup in 1993, and it wasn't made by TECMO, it was called Kick 'n Rush in Japan and was made by SIMS, a great SEGA developer, and localized as if it was madeTECMO for the Master System, and as if it was made by Tengen on the Game Gear... decent title though, I like how you can choose your kit color, so I can play as Brazil, but with their blue, I like the new Jordan one, I might buy that.

>Any quests that ended up standing out (either good or bad)?
I outlined a few good ones in this week's Friday Night thread. Aside from that, the entire Gang War questline with Vagabonds/Isle of Dogs is pretty neat, it's like an Elder Scrolls guild that the game introduces right away. Supposedly, they were going to be the Wild Card fourth ending, but it wasn't finished by the time 1.0 released and the questline just sort of stops with no resolution. The dog food factory quest you encounter early on is pretty good, it is a two stage quest and it is a proper grim, "nobody is right" grey morality Fallout quest that ties into another nearby faction. Syd's quest has some really good writing, it is so far one of my favorite Fallout quests out of any game period and it has a pretty bittersweet resolution, it also makes you reconsider Vagabonds as a whole once you find out more about Syd. Lastly, there is a neat little quest in the local museum where a crazy AI tries to set traps and kills you, all the while it is forced to educate you on various artifacts and world history, as it was originally programmed to, leading to one of the more memorable dungeons in the game.
There is plenty of good quests but many of them are typical Bethesda fair("KILL LOOT RETURN"), even then most have a fun premise at least. Good example is a quest for the Shakespeare Globe, which just has the player retrieve various plays from all over the world map and there is nothing else to it, despite the premise being cool. Everything else I can think of I outlined already in one of my posts, there is a pretty good selection on hand here and looking at the wiki, there were more added in later patches(alongside an entire DLC as well. Think about that, a DLC sized expansion for what is already a free game sized mod). There is definitely a cool 200 hours or so of in-game content if you want to 100% everything and there is three separate main questline routes, this is a proper brand new game.
>>304971
>Lame and a missed chance to make one based of knight armor or something mythical
Power Armor actually still works and you can mod that in, one of the first mods on Nexus even included a suit of knight power armor from Fallout 4(if you side with Fifth Column, Arthur even gets to wear one when you fight him. He doesn't wear it if you side with Camelot and storm Westminster, for whatever reason). I played around with Power Armor in a previous walkthru, and the mod simply isn't build for it, makes the game too easy and it breaks some moments/scripts(for example, you cannot use any ladders in the game in power armor). Many new guns cannot be used in first person either, forcing you to switch to something else or play the game in janky third person, which simply doesn't work as third person animations for Power Armor are borked even in the original Fallout 4 release. Definitely something to consider on a replay playthru, since Power Armor builds are perfectly viable, albeit not supported by the game without mods, pretty fun from what I remember in my first playthru tho.
>>304971
>Were there at least some energy weapons or did they remove them as well?
There is two generic weapons, a "zap pistol" that is basically an energy pipe gun, but done well. You can turn it into all sorts of weapons, from precise marksman rifles to an automatic weapon to a flamethrower to a gamma gun like thing that shoots radiation. Aside from that, there is a plasma pistol, pretty sure it's the exact same model as the one from Fallout Nevada, it's about what you would expect but there is no rifle variation, making it somewhat weak. There is also a few unique weapons, like a british knockoff of the Fallout 3/4 laser rifle if you want something more mundane, a hidden alien blaster, a unique plasma pistol that fires explosive rounds and a dalek pistol if you find all the hidden Doctor Who booths scattered around the world(scavenger like quest similar to the cutethulu dolls). You can also mod in any energy weapons from Fallout 4 nexus or even mod in any vanilla game energy weapons as well if you want, all the legacy content is still in the game files. I can't say how viable energy weapon builds are, but they seem extremely powerful the few times I have seen enemies use them. Supposedly, the updates also included brand new energy weapons, but I actually don't like that change, seeing energy weapons be something exclusive to Americans and the rest of the world having to hastily make some crappy scavenged makeshift lasers/plasma weapons is a neat concept(remember, Chinese didn't have energy weapons and had to use gauss weapons to pierce thru Power Armor in Anchorage).
>Fallout 2, vanilla or mods?
Restoration Project, there is no reason to ever play the game without it. I might have modded the game as well, as it is pretty easy to do so, I guess I will see.

Make sure to check if you are playing 1.0 version like me or the newest one. If you're playing 1.0, you will need to set up Buffout 4 before you play(might possibly come with your repack, depending on who you download from). If you download the newest version, Buffout 4 should be baked in and theoretically, the game should be more stable. Either way, expect jankiness, much more so than in Fallout 4, even if you're played the "fixed" version of the game, London is definitely on the New Vegas/Fallout 2 level of instability at times.
Speaking of which, get ready to mod the game as well, anyone who played Fallout 4 for any amount of time knows you will eventually need to just install a shitload of mods to fit your playstyle once you get the game working since you're still working with base Fallout 4 mechanics, warts and all. Pretty much everything from Fallout 4 nexus works, there is a handful of London exclusive mods on London nexus but for the most part, anything that introduced items in leveled lists or adds an overhaul works out of the box in London, only mods that add something specifically to the Boston gameworld won't work. Everyone got their own tastes, but everything I added worked.

>Are they though?
>IIRC the plasma pistol in Fallout 1 and 2 was manufactured by Glock
Good point, wasted opportunity not to include it, but there is a mod that does just that. My guess is that due to European Civil War turning all European nations bankrupt, there was no money in selling any energy weapons to the European Commonwealth, so the company mainly exported to the US, the only pre-war nation wealthy enough and advanced enough to possibly field energy weapons in any sort of large numbers. The reason why I said that the plasma pistol in London is the Nevada variant, aside from looking similar, is because the flavor text for the weapon states it is a very, very old model so I am guessing European countries in the Fallout universe can only expect these old, hand me down primitive weapons to be fielded in their countries, kind of like third world countries still use rusty cold war era AKs today while more modern militaries use top of the line tacticool rifles.

Anyways, I started Fallout 2 proper so I might as well post a few final screenshots from London, the final battle in Westminster. I don't think I mentioned it, but the game has a fantastic finale, pretty much it's a much better version of Hoover Dam battle: an epic, large scale combat segment in an open environment with plenty of enemies and objectives, with plenty of support from friendly NPCs to truly make it feel like you're flooding the streets and taking over the city district by district. Funnily enough, even with all the NPCs, much more stable than the peaceful Westminster, which was crash city for me. The final battle is weird, not gonna spoil it but it might take an unprepared player by surprise.

Or maybe energy weapons did play a larger part but got dropped when the energy crisis hit and ended dismantled for needed spare parts during the civil war, if they were considered for large scale use in the first place and not just expensive sidegrades or meant for export in the first place
Real shame we never got the Resource War game or any other game that explored the state of Europe

>I´m downloading the gog one-click edition which is v1.03 so it should be fine
Just make sure your Fallout 4 version is downgraded. Not sure which version, I pirated my version of London which was ready to go after install. In short, Bethesda fucked up Fallout 4 around the time when London came out, so if you play the latest version, it won't work(most mods don't work either btw, the game is completely fucked right now). Downgrader is easy to use and essentially just changes your patch version to the last stable version, before Bethesda fucked things up. You don't really need mods to play, but if any parts of Fallout 4 bothered you, that won't change here. I know I hated many elements of vanilla Fallout 4, so I had to re-mod it all over again at launch of London.

Speaking of which, there is one mod you should download: London isn't woke, per say, but when you start the game, it does this annoying thing where it asks you to choose your BODY TYPE, not GENDER, which I know is maddening for some people. Not a big deal, but I found someone who modded it out about a year or two ago when London first dropped:
https://files.catbox.moe/hczmh2.7z
Before you ask, the link came from this site(which is now dead, but I found it thru archive.today)
 https://archive.is/rjiNO
It hasn't been re-uploaded anywhere else(certainly not on Nexus) so I'm glad I bookmarked it. Nexus is full of trannies so a gender mod is a big no-no on there, I can see why people forgotten about it since there really aren't any alternatives at the moment for uploading mods.

>Or maybe energy weapons did play a larger part but got dropped when the energy crisis hit and ended dismantled for needed spare parts during the civil war, if they were considered for large scale use in the first place and not just expensive sidegrades or meant for export in the first place

Game explains that Europe pretty much became a series of poor, third world countries fighting petty wars with one another, just like it was stated in the intro of Fallout 1. Vast majority of weapons you will find in London are melee weapons or repurposed WW1/WW2 guns, so most energy weapons being some crappy makeshift weapons made in someone's garage or some ancient hand-me-down models that were outdated at the time of the war make perfect sense. I do suggest Nevada btw, I did talk about it here in this thread.

I gave them an evo item to get them to evolve just to make sure I locked in the evo, they should have been at the day they do it anyway I either need to pass time in game to get them to evolve one more time, or just grind or something. I can probably do the final boss right now. It probably wouldn't be a terrible idea seeing as how they should have a fair amount of life left.

Cool that it's so easy to get London running these days. Have fun with it, this is about as close as you will ever get to trying out a Fallout game for the first time, unless Todd somehow releases Fallout 5 without going bankrupt.
One thing I am curious about, how is your stability? Is the game buggy or crashy for you? Let us known, my playthru was plagued with constant crashes, freezes and various glitches, if the game wasn't as good as it was I would have quit long ago. Apparently, most problems should be solved by now and the constant crashes be a thing of the past.
Also, I wonder if the newest version also comes with the DLC by the default, it introduced a playable casino ala New Vegas so if you get a game of blackjack going then they did.

Have there been FPS drops? I know my game had crazy amounts in some places, altho that might just be my PC, hopefully they fixed that. The console definitely should NOT be disabled, it might just be your build of Fallout 4. I would look into that if I were you, there is some incomplete quests you can only finish with console commands(one egregious example is the one in Hackney) and generally they do tend to glitch out a lot so you're SOL if you can't get it working. Also, I couldn't get the Explorer perk to work properly so I had to use a console command to reveal all map markers, generally playing any Bethesda game without the console is a stupid idea.

I see you're doing Bromley/Vagabonds questline early. Good choice, since it gives you lots of gear and XP relatively early on. Without spoiling anything, I would pay attention to what you do, the outcome for this questline varies greatly depending on what choices you make. Same goes for the perk you get at the very end, if you choose violence you get extremely useful perk that increases headshot damage and a cool shotgun meanwhile if you choose peace you get an extremely useful perk that gives you a flat 100xp extra per speech check which stacks with other speech check bonus perks, letting you get a ridiculous amount of extra XP if you take this early. For reference, you get 200xp average for completing quests in this game and with max speech check perks I was able to get nearly 300xp per skill check in my game by the end.. If the game gets hard for you, I recommend doing the main quest as soon as possible since you only get rid of the debuffs you got from the train at the very end of Act 1, that's also generally when the entire worldmap is finally open for you so it's a good idea to do regardless.

Okay, so they haven't fixed it since these are also the same locations where it happened to me. Funny because I swore that some people didn't have them in those areas, so it must be a hardware issue.

Unless the new version of the mod for whatever reason directly disabled it, there might be a mod for that. I wouldn't know, newest versions of the game are cancer so most people who know better stay clear of them, for all I know this is Bethesda's fault. You will definitely want to get that sorted out tho, Bethesda games are nearly unplayable without the console and London is no different.

Speaking of which, if you're playing Survival Mode, the console is just disabled by default. If that's the case, then you might want to disable it and drop down to hard/very hard instead, I dunno if it's possible to run the game in Survival Mode(and I wouldn't recommend it with how unstable the game is, especially in 1.0 where it crashes all the time).
Barring that, there is this mod

Keep collecting them and you will eventually get a quest that tells you what to do. Beware, this leads into the absolute hardest combat encounters in the game, so make sure that the day to day fighting isn't causing you trouble and you have plenty of healing/perks/a companion with you before you attempt it since there is no way back once you get into the final dungeon. The reward is very powerful but borderline breaks the game, there is a mod to fix it if it bothers you.
I know the dolls respawn every 3 days in my game just like all the other loot, but they might have changed it in the latest version, either way there is more than enough to complete the quest so don't worry about having to look up their locations or anything like that and just play the game. Just like with the sunset star quest in New Vegas, eventually you will just have enough by playing the game and exploring enough.

Started playing today the DS remake of Final Fantasy IV (thanks >>297562 anon for the recommendation). First 4 hours left me with a good taste in my mouth. The 3D models of the characters look nice and most of the enviroments are quite good, though maybe a bit flat sometimes. Combat, while not hard (at least yet), isn´t piss easy. Most enemies aren´t complete pushovers. So I had to do some light rationing of magic and items to beat the first big dungeon comfortably enough. The boss of the dungeon (the giant squid) was easy though.
A quite comfy game. Hope it stays as that all the way into my playthrough.

I'm still in the football/soccer mood, so I went ahead and gave David O'Leary's Total Soccer 2000 (GBC) a shot, I've played it many times before, but only friendlies for some quick fun, I wanted to play an actual tournament, I usually go for a World Cup as that's how I consider I "beat" a football/soccer video game, but here the closest to that was a fake UEFA Champions League tournament, pretty bare bones as there wasn't even an end screen, celebration with the trophy, nothing... but how its played was the highlight, and late 90's/early 2000's Ronaldo was incredible and it's nice to experience how he played here.

P.S. Him getting injured in the SFs was a pain though, thannkfully I won the final anyways, on "Super" difficulty.
I forgot what happens at the end of euphoria again? I remembered playing till the end, to be honest I'm a pretty vanilla guy and the vanilla scenes are really good. Good gooning material. As for the scat and piss blah blah I don't get hard from watching it but I do enjoy sadism like violence in movies you know. I like rape and stuff like that too, it makes the story quite brutal. But of course as long as it doesn't happen to the main heroine. As for the anons that enjoy euphoria, you should read muramasa, peak visual novels with similar brutality and story is amazing.

Finished Fallout 2, gave my thoughts on it last friday and I merely finished it today
>>305253
https://archive.is/6JvBF#305253

Fallout 2 was a weird mix of my last few playthrus with this same build: on one hand, I was finally able to play as a pacifist character again without resorting to violence most of the time, like in Fallout 1/Nevada, on the other hand my character became a powerhouse anyways and was forced to fight a lot anyways, just like in my Tactics and London playthrus(most of that was due to the retarded enemy encounter rate, which unlike in Tactics 100%+ Outdoorsman does NOT have a significant effect on). Large thanks goes to my team, however, as they did most of the work, while I could easily handle a few enemies on my own, the game usually threw a whole bunch of aliens/deathclaws/Enclave at you, forcing either a pure combat build or running away from encounters if one isn't traveling around with a group. In general, the encounters ended up being very chaotic and often ended up with one side accidentally shooting the other if there were more than two parties, and absolute madness ensued, very much love Fallout 2 encounters and it's a shame only Fallout 3 came kinda sorta close to replicating them since. As for my companions, my lineup didn't change much from my last post: Cassidy upgraded from HK CAWS to a Striker(ported over from Nevada, high damage per shot and magazine capacity but lacks ability to burst fire) for a great frontliner, Marcus was the heavy and usually used some sort of machinegun or a Turbo Plasma Rifle(which I modded to actually require 1 less AP like in Fallout 1, that's three attacks per round if Marcus doesn't move at full level). Myron was mostly a Stimpack factory, and used a (buffed) Phazer pistol from the Star Trek encounter, meanwhile Skynet was a great sniper that took about a turn or two to get in position, then cleaned up the battlefield with it's M72 Gauss Rifle, assuming the battle wasn't already over by that point. Last slot(filled in with Magnetic Personality perk) was held by a few companions, all of which died horribly within the random encounters, I ended up settling on K9 since it had the defense equivalent of Power Armor. Sadly, while it's a cyber dog, it is still a dog, and therefore somewhat useless outside of knocking down a nearby opponent every once in a while. Rex a few games later would end up being more more useful. I didn't get the car in this playthru since me and Myron were using the energy cells and Marcus was using microfusion cells, expanding even more on fuel would be a waste(and all the extra random encounters netted me quite a few level ups).

I very much enjoyed how Jinxed worked during this playthru, it was still chaotic(for both sides) but not overwhelmingly so like in Fallout 1. For starters, I think Black Isle(or the modders behind Restoration Project, which I used for this playthru) removed the ability for guns to self destruct as I didn't encounter that happening a single time during my time with the game, which meant at worst the gun would be dropped or lose all it's ammo. This lead to a whole lot of butterfingers for both sides, however my companions always had backup ammo and guns so that wasn't really a problem for me. Crippled limbs from critical failures were a bigger issue, thankfully I tagged Doctor so healing them wasn't an issue. Sadly, the skill is greatly underutilized in Fallout 2, the only other practical use it has is getting the Dermal Implant schematics in Vault City and these things are just way too expensive for their own good. Science proved to be a much better investment, however, as it made both Sierra Army Depot and EPA a breeze, not to mention it allowed me to get the best brain for Skynet and turn it into the deadly sniper that it was. Speech was self explanatory, I used a pacifist solution to every problem I could think of, with violence only erupting when absolutely necessary(and even then, there were alternative solutions to kill targets, for example Super Stimpack overdoses or drugging specific characters to avoid alerts), a breath of fresh air from my last two combat heavy games. Speaking of combat, I am happy to say that I did reduce some of the toughest battles in the game to a joke, Masticator in New Reno didn't even lay hands on me once since he tripped the moment he tried and I won due to to a knockout, this made every single critical failure in this marathon up to this point worth it alone. Lo Pan in San Francisco put up more of a fight ,but not by much, even the pistol he pulls out at one point didn't help him, and Frank Horrigan himself didn't even get to attack me as he was too busy attacking the turrets I activated, plus Granite Squad(very hard speech check to get them on your side). Sucker only lasted 2 turns total between all the firepower thrown at him, shame he didn't cripple himself due to a critical failure for good measure.

Weapons wise, I found a pair of Spiked Knuckles early on, which carried me for most of the game(until companions entered the picture anyways, I metagamed to get Cassidy and Marcus as soon as I could). I upgraded to a Super Cattle Prod towards the end of the game, a very good weapon but I feel not as good as a Super Sledge, the upside is that it does Electrical damage which few NPCs have good resistances towards. Thrown weapons were a bit of a disappointment, there was a small selection on display and Plasma Grenades just didn't cut it past a certain point. Thankfully, the Restoration Project added in a new type of enemy that spits out spikes, you can actually pick these up and use them as weapons, they are armor piercing and do a ton of damage. I buffed them up slightly and gave them fire damage in the editor, this made for a fantastic, retrievable end game weapon that did consistent damage to everything, much better than throwing knives and spears one has to use in the vanilla game. I don't see this as cheating, as in order to get to the EPA you need to be far along in the game and the enemies that spit these spikes at you aren't pushovers either. I also added in a few extra Holy Hand Grenades to select end game locations(Navarro, San Francisco BOS Bunker, EPA Armory) to make pure throwing builds(or ones that don't use guns and depend on it for ranged attacks like me) viable. I did find the actual Vorpal Rat encounter so I don't see that as cheating, not that more grenades would have made a difference since my companions usually evaporated everything within a turn/two it would take me to set up and throw them in most battles anyways.

One last note, this was the first time I ever became a Bishop made man, over all these years. I don't know why, maybe the thought of having to constantly go between NCR and Reno didn't appeal to me, or maybe I found the assassination missions boring, either way I preferred the more easier missions from the other families. I am glad I stuck with Bishop, quiet murders suited the style my character and the ending more or less suited the canon as of New Vegas most with a Bishop victory. Plus, the game lets you fuck his wife or daughter between missions, it's a feature. Speaking of the mob, since the next few games will have faction choices baked into it's main quests, I think this archetype plays well with the mob, I see myself becoming a House man when the time comes. First, I want to play New California, a mod that has a somewhat mixed reputation, but there is one thing that it does extremely well: bridge in the gaps between Fallout 2 and New Vegas, and I never played it right after a Fallout 2 playthru. This will make it feel like like that Fallout 3 we never got, in a sense, and transition into Fallout New Vegas(actual Fallout 3) right after the mod is over while it sets up (fake Bethesda) Fallout 3 at the same time. Looking forward to that, but digging up my old drives with the game, complete with all the mods I run it is just over 100GB so I will need to wait until my new drive arrives to backup some shit from my computer first. Maybe I will take a break in the meantime, maybe I will play something else instead.

>>305519
>As for the scat and piss blah blah I don't get hard from watching it but I do enjoy sadism like violence in movies you know
I think the bigger problem is that it is completely unnecessary, it is 100% "author's barely disguised fetish" over adding anything substantial to the story and that rubs a lot of people(myself included) the wrong way. Hell, the devs even say as much in the developer commentary. I recently 100% the game so it's still fairly fresh in my mind, and I can tell you right now that I did a little experiment and re-wrote the script of the game for funsies, to see if I could improve on it. Barring a few scenes(like the one at the very beginning of the game), all of them were crossed off and replaced with something else and I think the final product would be much better off for it, all you have to do is replace them with scenes that deal with the protagonist's descent into madness and his sadism fetish more since the latter is barely even explored outside one route(and even then, it's considered a "special" ending towards the end, not a proper playthru). Wasted opportunity.

> As for the anons that enjoy euphoria, you should read muramasa, peak visual novels with similar brutality and story is amazing.
Sell me on it, I got time before my drive arrives.
The only thing I remember from euphoria is that the art style is erotic. I have no interest in the story therefore I have no memories of it. I read visual novels because the stories and characters in some of them are really fucking good. But not this one though.

I've never heard of it and you're not telling me anything about it. I see no reason to, since I have downtime I might as well go out and read a *real* book since I am behind on my backlog.

>>305562
>You ever thought about doing a completely evil playthrough?
Thing with doing that in Fallout game is that you are never given a real diegetic reason to do so. I wasn't exactly a "good" character in my latest playthru of Fallout 2, for example, I did assassinate a vice president of NCR and doom miners of Redding to be addicted jetheads by siding with New Reno, or there was that one time my character lost his virginity in Vault City by pressuring a grieving wife to sleep with him in return for rescuing her husband from slavery(with the kid playing right next door), but those are all just isolated instances, a full on "evil playthru" of that game is night impossible. For one, the game just showers you with good karma, you quite literally cannot go from one town to another without encountering a whole bunch of bandits that will each give you karma per kill, even if you do something genuinely evil there is a chance that you will just earn that karma back on the way to the next city passively(New Vegas has this problem too, the only way to truly be evil is to just steal everything not nailed down and avoid random encounters). The evil options also aren't very appealing, you will end up choosing a lot of "good" choices merely because they are the best ways to get ahead and the most no-nonsense options, where as the "evil" choices will have you be needlessly rude for no reason and end up sounding like an idiot, or do something cartoonishly evil like ripping a child's doll right in front of them. Joining slavers in Fallout 2 makes no sense since they only let you go on a couple of hunts and give you a pittance of money in return that makes no difference even in the early game, where as you suffer from having a tattoo on your head that marks you as a slaver for the rest of the game and makes a lot of quests/interactions impossible. There is simply no balance here, the "evil" option isn't to join the slavers, it's to leave them alone as the "good" option has you actively killing them for XP(and to save 1000 dollars to rescue Vic). A lot of Fallout games are like this, ironically Todd Howard got evil playthrus right the most with Fallout 3, and that's the only game in the franchise that has a karma system worth a damn too, there is clearly defined playstyles and roles each alignment has with a generally decent balance between all three(if we count a "neutral" playthru). I picked every evil choice in Fallout 1(siding with Gizmo, Decker ect.) and I still ended up being "good" because, well, you play as The Vault Dweller, everything short of massacring every single town yourself before the mutants will instead mark you as New Californian Jesus(I was a childkiller too thanks to Ian's twitchy trigger finger, no consequences for that because you need 2 dead kids for people to actually react properly to being a childkiller).

The closest I got to being a full blown psycho was in my recent playthru of London, since my character was a bloodthirsty, amoral cannibal that killed people for food and the child orphan companion(Archie) was forced to watch my every action in disgust since he had nowhere else to go. I would say that's pretty much an "evil playthru", however due to lack of evil choices in a lot of these quests, and the fact that the main quest faction I genuinely liked ended up being "the good one", he still ended up being a hero somehow. Unless you're doing some non-sensical gimmick roleplaying run, doing an "evil playthru" is a lost cause in most of these games, now a KILL EVERYTHING run is all in good fun and varies depending on the game(you will have to mod essential NPCs to be essential in Bethesda titles, some like Tactics are impossible, but it mostly works for all entries). Kinda hollow, but pretty fun as well, it's clear some of these games were never meant to be played like this and the story kind of falls apart, but it's an option at least.

I think someone on youtube did a series on doing just that in Fallout 3/New Vegas about a decade back, if you want to see how those playthrus look.

Not to mention that mechanically speaking it's a pretty a pretty straight ARPG spin on a single-character JRPG. Though it's also realtime, the (completely separate) Genesis Shadowrun is actually more WRPG feeling and stat-heavy, though the story isn't as flavorful or prominent.

On the general subject of Shadowrun, I'm astonished to this day that MS bought extensive rights vidya adaptations of FASA tabletop games just a couple years before the XBox launched without any RPGs for years, and did nothing of value with any of it aside from maybe Crimson Skies. They could've had basically CP2077+Witcher as a 1st-party launch title if they played their cards right.

Wasn't there a Shadowrun RPG trilogy a decade ago? It's pretty simplistic, but a nice, niche set of games if one is into turn based combat.

One thing I wasn't aware of. Refreshing my memory on MobyGames, apparently the twisting plot of the SNES game was adapted from an earlier official Shadowrun novel.

Yes, it was one of the first wave of Kickstarter indie PC WRPGs that resurrected the genre from the consolitis/MMO/ARPG plague of the '00s. I haven't played it myself, but what I've seen makes it look pretty good, if a little threadbare before the newbie devs fleshed out the mechanics in later games.

Started playing Cyberknights Flashpoint.

I'm still pretty early but the word I can use to describe it is "dense". I've head it described as shadowrun, x-com, and cyberpunk had a baby.
Basically you're some guy who got some sick cyberspine installed that's illegal to manufacture. Now you have to pay off a debt, or agree to a favor later. Or just pay off the debt the normal way with money.
Missions start quiet with stealth being the name of the game or you can go loud as the corpos can't shoot you if they are all dead. Every turn the "Sec AI" will tac on points to the security level eventually spawning harder guards, or if you're very popular a headhunter. Doing things like setting off pressure plates, walking in front of cameras, or a dead body being discovered can raise the sec level. You have multiple members on a team with each having a different specialization aside from your guy who is a special cyberknight class.
This can range from wireghosts, hackers, and vanguards who are more about stealth and disabling locks and security. To a cybersword who also hacks and is more about disabling the guards hand so he cannot shoot you by cutting it off. There are a bunch of classes and I don't know all of them yet but they seem to range from stealth focused to loud. Oh yeah and you have the "face" team member who's entire class is about jobs and managing your team. You're team members can have randomly generated background that can effect missions. For example they aren't liked in that particular cyberdome so if you operate in there expect trouble.

Pre-missions have prepwork you can do like calling in favors for contacts, using influence to change some of the missions options, or just paying some gangers to riot a bit to slow down the guards. Then there is legwork which will tie up your merc for a few days by have them doing, well legwork. Finding out information, digging up dirt on someone, breaking someones ankles. These can also flow into missions as well. There is an entire contacts tab I haven't even messed with yet

OH yeah there is an entire hacking part of the game you also can do in missions too, be careful. You're still in meatspace so you need someone to watch your back. It isn't just click button to win, there are different programs and scanning and stuff you have to do as well.

There is a story to work through but apparently the devs cooked up some sort of mission director that will basically look at all the different permutations and traits of your guys and if they are a good fit for a mission, then it will weave them in. Have to go rescue a guy? Well as it turns out hes one of the contacts you work with and was kidnapped by the faction he hates. Now you actually care if some ripperdoc gets his brains painted all over an alleyway. I'll post an excerpt from an article to explain it better than I can.
>According to Trese, Cyber Knights' storytelling juggles a mix of hand-crafted and procedural elements, the latter being dictated by "the Casting Director." Between missions, the Casting Director is scanning the traits of different characters (referred to as "tags" by Trese), looking for ones to fulfill different scenarios.
>"So if somebody takes a really bad wound on a mission...that storyline will go 'ooh, you're perfect for me, come with me.' Then a little while later that person is gonna be like 'I don't feel well...' and then you're stuck down a new path."
>The system allows any of the game's unique characters to be dragged down the twists and turns of a set of generic questlines, but there are some specific to each character too. A character called "The Vanguard" has a specific story about her brother which can be activated by the Casting Director, and it can be modified based on the various traits she's acquired—and in turn, the results of that quest will modify other quests, and so on and so forth.

It's fun so far. I have no idea what I'm doing, and my qt brownfu cybersword is addicted to neo-crack or something.

While I am waiting for my drive to arrive, I picked up an interesting game in the meantime: Operation Darkness. It's a WW2 tactical strategy/rpg thing exclusive to the Xbox 360 and features supernatural elements and anime. I'm surprised something like this ended up on the Xbox and not PS3, honestly. Despite being a 7th gen game, it does feel more like a 6th gen game spiritually(and graphically), so if you liked PS2 era tactics titles, it's kind of like that.

So, I got this game around when it launched, in 2009, and I got filtered around mission 7. Turns out this is one of those games that will absolutely fuck you over if you aren't playing it like you're supposed to, but I will get to that later. Anyways, I went back to it a few years later, around 2011 or so, and I got a bit further than that, but not much before I stopped playing again. My most recent playthru happened around a decade ago, in 2017, and I finally figured out how to get gud. This time, I made it around halfway thru the game, 17 hours in, before I gave up due to a very specific reason. Now, I am finally vowing to finish this game once and for all because if I won't do so now, I doubt I will get around to doing so again, or my Xbox will just straight up die and I won't be able to.

Now, the game is set up like a very standard WW2 tactics fare: you got your infantrymen, your heavy gunners, your snipers, anti-tank units ect. and you would think that the game wants you to make the most balanced squad possible for every situation. WRONG, this game wants you to metagame the hell out of it from the very first level and if you play the game like this, you will get fucked fairly quickly, this is what led to me putting the game down in the past. Simply put, the most important stat in the game is speed, and the less equipment you have the higher it is. You might ask how going into the battlefield with barely anything but your knife and a pistol is going to help, especially since almost every missions has armored vehicles/a boss(usually a combination of both). The answer is simple: since this is a paranormal setting many characters get magic spells and abilities, this game is meant to be played like a more typical tactics rpg and the WW2 paintjob is just for show. The reason I stopped playing last time around, a decade ago, was because I got to a certain mission which was timed, and the enemies had such high sequence that even with my relatively lightly equipped squad the enemies went 2-3 turns before each one my men had, easily(if not more) and the mission was borderline impossible. That is when I realized just how optimized I had to be to stand a chance and decided I would just play the game over properly this time around, that time is now.

From my limited playtime recently, I found that running around with a knife/pistol is indeed the meta, even in the early missions with no magic, and if you need heavy firepower, machine guns and anti-tank weapons are all you need. Shotguns, SMGs, carabines and even sniper rifles are fucking useless and should be avoided at all costs, every pound of weight counts and you either want your units running circles around the enemy or at the very least make their turns count. Pistols, knives and grenades are so light that their weight is negligent, anything more like a sabre/sword or even a sawed off shotgun weights too much and you have to fully commit to that build, not to mention equipping any sort of long arm or heavy weapon. Most characters get special abilities and magic which they will use as much as possible(and refill their mana with items if needed), meaning that weapons just get in the way of that, meanwhile machine guns are good for suppressing infantry and pack almost as much range as sniper rifles, making that entire class redundant for just a little bit more weight while also making every single SMG/STG absolutely fucking useless. Lastly, there is always some armored unit or boss type encounter, so if you will want to weight down your characters with something, that would be anti-armor weapons like rocket launchers as they will never be a waste to bring along. Even generic side missions not relevant to the story usually have at least one vehicle ambush within them at some point, so having as much as half your squad being just bazooka carriers is not just metagaming, it is straight up recommended. Knives, pistols and grenades have barely any weight and are always recommended on any unit, however machinegunners make the former two redundant and might want to shave off even that little bit of weight, if possible. Your lightweight guys will already be moving 2-3 times before you do, this is a difference between adding an extra turn on top of that.

So, now that I got that out of the way, I do actually recommend the game. I am only around the 9th main mission in(out of 36 or so) and I am liking what I am seeing so far, I guess judging by my last savefile, the game is around 40 hours or so long. I do have a few gripes, firstly this is a fatlus game with very amateurish localization, get ready for some poor German and French accents and Americans pretending to be British(maybe Japanese dub is better?). Next, the game has some rather pathetic censorship, there is zero swastikas and various other symbols like Waffen SS totenkompf are nowhere to be seen. They even removed the medic's red cross on his armband because the devs got scared out of using it(lol), I haven't gotten to that part in the game yet but I know there is a holohoax shilling scene as well and I do remember an interview specifically stating that the devs put that in because the localizers cried that it should. Very weak-willed japs made this game and it shows, but if you're willing to get past that it does play around with some cool alt-history plot elements, albeit with a story and dialogue that feels straight out of an anime and less out of some WW2 nerd's fantasy. Oh, and the game's hints are straight up fucking useless, for example the first mission tells you that hiding behind rocks and trees is supposed to give you cover but nothing short of hiding behind walls or within sandbag nests will do diddle squat, you are just asking yourself to be shot by ending your turn standing behind a rock. Likewise, the game tells you to waste your grenades by throwing them on enemy tanks' sides, DO NOT EVER DO THAT and save those for infantry instead(bunched together, naturally, as throwing nades at just one target is a waste). Only rockets and spells do any sort of damage to enemy tanks and everything else is a waste of time, I am guessing the devs either never play tested some elements or something changed thru out development.

So, in total, this is a very niche game, and for a good reason. The only way to play it today is by finding a copy for the 360 or a rom for Xenia, neither of which is very optimal, and like I said, unless you're a veteran in this genre you will likely get washed out before you even get started. This is why I am sharing my build so far to get anons started if they don't want to overthink how they play the game, it is working out well for me so far but no promises it will hold that way. I remember the game gets brutally difficult the more you get into it, forcing you to further optimize your squad or even change how it works entirely depending on your playstyle. Mission 7, the mission that originally filtered me out, is when shit gets real, if you can get past that one then you should be good to go(at least for a little while), consider that your first real exam.

My current squad:
Main character-rusher, equip with gun/knife/grenades and force him into the frontline. Gets good spell to keep him on offensive. If you need a heavier weapon, pick one up during battle, don't bother actually equipping him with one at the start of the mission, this goes for any other lightweight units. This unit cannot die, so keep that mind and always have him supported by other rushers
Jude-Absolutely useless, only moves 2-3 times per battle max and gets no special abilities. I gave him a heavy machinegun(Bren or MG34/42), but you can experiment with him and it won't make much of a difference. If, for whatever reason, you want to make an infantry unit with weapons like an SMG/Rifles/Shotguns, give them to him and see if they are in any way viable, probably not. Cannot die, which makes him even more useless
Cordelia-same loadout as your MC, except that she is a heavy duty long range spellcaster with weak physical attributes. Typical mage, her attacks double as anti-tank rockets. Cannot die, make sure she always gets support
Gallant-Anti tank unit(Bazookas/Panzerfaust), make sure to give him launchers and rockets alongside knife/pistol/grenades. He has a transformation ability, use that when in a pinch, when you need him to move fast(as all AT and MG units will move slow as hell) or when you run out of rockets as his ability does as much damage to tanks as rockets do. Cannot die, but unlike the former three, he can actually handle himself, especially in his transformed state
Keith-Heavy gunner with a similar transformation ability as Gallant, but not as powerful. Don't bother giving him a knife or a pistol, double down on grenades and make the MG his main weapon, transform if you need an extra anti-tank unit on the field
Frank-Fastest unit I currently have, make him as light as possible and he can rush over to an enemy and grenade them along with your MC before the enemy usually even has time to move and spread out. Alternatively, you can use him as a support unit and have him stay with the other units at the start to buff them, either way he's a great frontliner and support unit all the same. Not sure why the game makes him out to be some sort of heavy gunner, weighting him down is a massive waste of potential
Cynthia-Supposed sniper, but I already said how useless I think they are. Give her a machine gun, if for whatever reason you want to run a marksman, let her keep her rifle since she has a special ability she can use with it
Herbert-Team medic, give him an MG and have him stay behind enemy lines. He is the only one who can revive allies, but nobody can revive him, that's why you should usually keep all expandable units doing the dangerous tasks while your MC and other characters that cannot die, alongside this guy, should be kept under heavier supervision. A bit on the frailer side, like Cordelia, but if he stays in the back and uses the MG, it shouldn't matter as he will be packing a punch from a distance anyways
Jack-Anti tank, he likes knives so make sure he always has one but don't give him a pistol since his special ability gives him access to powerful ranged attacks(leaps) with his blades
Three expandable generic soldiers-All loaded with as much rockets and grenades as possible, with the token knife and pistol for backup as well. None of them get special abilities or spells and they are fairly weak, but that doesn't matter when all they use are explosives and you would be surprised how much three of them can rape even the toughest boss/armored unit if all three focus their bazookas on a single target. Can always recruit more, so if anyone has to die, make sure it's them, of course that should never be the case since you have Herbert around to revive them
Skills don't matter, choose what you want, altho be advised that you cannot get critical hits unless you specifically choose the skill that lets you do so. Every unit should have auto-restoration no matter who they are, I have no clue why this isn't just a base game feature. Keep in mind that new recruits who join you during missions do NOT have this skill set, so even if they have a medkit they won't auto-restore if their health goes down to zero and will need to revived by Herbert

Oddball game, but I am getting back into it, hopefully I can finish it for good this time. Shame it never got off the ground, the devs wanted to do a Cold War and War on Terror(modern warfare) games in this setting and it would have been interesting. I think the choice to make it an Xbox exclusive doomed it, people were simply too interested in their Halo and Gears of war to give it a try, and nobody in Japan owned one of those things so it largely went unnoticed there as well. Still, I say it is an overlooked gem if anyone here is interested in this sort of thing.

I´m still with FF IV DS. The game has increased significantly in difficulty since the fight against the first archdemon. Not only are the bosses way harder than at the beggining. Even some random encounters I had ended up creating a little mess on my party due to me mismanaging the fights sometimes.
I like that the game incentives the player to explore the dungeons throughout by giving you some nice items if you fill out the minimap. It helps that the random fights chances are balanced appropriately. Being enough so one can experiment new moves and gain experience while leaving you room to explore without feeling constantly interrupted.

A little complain I have is that the game doesn´t explain what each augment for new skills do. It makes choosing which character I´m gonna give an augment random as I don´t know if it compliments his class until I give it to them. So sometimes I ended up with a character having a new skill that isn´t very useful for them and can´t get back on that decidions unless I restart the game.

Still having a good time with the game overall. The story and the soundtrack are nice too.
Fuck the cunts in pic related though. Their annoying gimmick made this fight a complete slog that seemed never ending to me. It didn´t help that I was so tired of playing at the point I reach them I missed the save room until after I defeated them, so I wasn´t with full HP or MP during this fight. Thank god I won at the first try. Wouldn´t have liked to do the whole tower again.
The first fight against Golbez I recently passed was hard as hell too. I died a few times and only won due to the massive stack of potions and phoenix downs I ended up hoarding during my playtime.

<right to finish up with, yeah, go ahead fight Lu Bu + a ultra-mega-roided-up Diaochan
<basically a double-final-boss duo
<alone
<limited healing
<gotta protect the old mongolian-guard from death (he won't get oneshot, but don't think you can disengage to clear minions or grab healing) until his scripted exit about 25% off of their combined healthpool
<surrounded by enemy minions
<and none of your own (for strategies)
<with midgame gear
and that's how I just got ground into fucking paste. Took like 5% off of Lu bu and 60% off of Diaochan getting frametrapped into unblockable-undodgeables while each of them charge up area-cleansing attacks independent of one another.

I'm playing PS1 Space Jam right now... it's very bare bones, the only things you get are a standard basketball match, a few mediocre minigames in between quarters, and a mode where you have to win 5 matches in a row, the only good thing I genuinely found is that if you switch all of the subpar extras off it can be a decent NBA Jam clone for what it is.

P.S. winning 3 out of 5 would've been fitting in basketball... 5 in a row to win the mode is BULLSHIT though.

Lu Bu is 100% an intended superboss, a closer western example would be like Achilles in Troy; on a completely borderline-immortal other level to anything around him. Legendary spear, legendary horse, distinct and iconic armor, hottest woman of the age on his arm (who was supposed to kill him, but ended up falling for him without him trying), and casually fights the next best fighters at the same time without breaking a sweat : totaling to le "the greatest fighter to have ever lived" dude of Chinese folklore. His flaws were his lack of commanding ability, lack of loyalty to anyone other than himself and total ineptitude in political finesse, which is why Guan Yu is treated with more respect as the paramount war figure, and Zhao Yun also usually gets bumped up just above Lu Bu too, but there really isn't any human figure who comes close to him in raw combat ability.

Early on in the franchise he's just a really strong officer that had a badass theme and a lot of presence in cutscenes; but it's a disservice to the narrative, and clearly just what they had to work with.
A lot of what I'm liking about Origins is that it feels like a full "realization" of what the series always wanted to be, without the shackles of what it had to be on older hardware. Lu Bu's deathgod presentation is 100% in line with that.

updating jschan seems to have changed custompages to pages so that is why the one in the board headline doesnt work but the one in previous post does.

After a short hiatus with my new favorite anime WW2 game, I'm back to playing Fallout after nearly 2 months. This time, I finished Fallout: New California, a mod for New Vegas that bridges this game and Fallout 2. Essentially, this is the REAL sequel to Fallout 2 and sets up events for Fallout: New Vegas(the REAL Fallout 3), as a bonus you also get to just play Fallout: New Vegas with your character, the game doesn't just end at the credits and endings the mod shows you. While this is cool, I don't think I need to chronicle my playthru of Fallout: New Vegas, so instead I will just write what I think about the mod itself, since I mostly played it thru by now(there is essentially a final boss fight left, but I know how it turns out since it's the exact same thing for every route except The Enclave, which I didn't do).

Narrative wise, New California tackles the ending of Fallout 2, which is to say expansion of the NCR and the aftermath of The Oil Rig blowing up. The setting is great, the writing is(mostly) good, what's there is competently done and the deep lore never ends. It is fanfiction, but in a good way, not what Bethesda has done with Fallout 3 where we got Brotherhood and Enclave fighting for no real reason with no lore(or what's there being utterly retarded and making no sense). Unfortunately, the mod's biggest flaw is that it, simply put, is not finished. The main quest is done, and so is some of the side quests, but a lot of the world is simply empty, there is a lot of bugs and inconsistencies, cut content galore and the quality of the mod is not equal thru out, it's clear some parts were given more time and attention than others. Still, the parts that were focused on were great and at the best of times, it felt like I was playing Fallout 1 or 2 all over again, which is always a good thing. New California starts in a vault, you actually get a prologue chapter with it's own side quests and choices/consequences just like in Fallout 3, except it's done much better than in that game. Rather than what Fallout 3 does where most of the prologue is spend as a child and only the last few bits where your choices matter a young adult, New California is that but for the entire duration of the prologue. Right away you get choices, you can play as a jock(as I did) for Combat/Sneak Boys or play as a nerd for Diplomacy/Science Boy builds. There is some overlap, if you make a right build, but essentially the game railroads you into a certain playstyle(and roleplaying style as well) depending on which prologue you choose, this determines your first few quests as well as your unique companion of choice(a drugged up retard you crippled in the intro as a jock, a giant robot that kills NPCs in conversations as a nerd. I didn't say the choices were equally appealing). After the prologue, you get to choose which route you get to take when the vault gets attacked, this also determines if you can do the hidden Enclave route as well. The game has a fantastic start and once you get out into the world, it suffers a little bit since there isn't much to do outside the main quests of your choice(two routes, NCR and Raiders, with some overlap and branching paths like being able to side with New Reno gangsters, something I've done for this playthru which is fitting since in Fallout 2 I choose to side with New Reno/Bishops anytime I could). That said, it's clear the modders focused on the important parts first, and everything else that wasn't finished maybe shouldn't have been finished if it hurt the rest of the product, but it would have been nice regardless. For example, there is a nearly finished quest that's been cut where you hack into three faction networks, build a botnet and rob a Shi bank for massive amounts of money that I found while digging thru the Geck, obviously it's not finished but there is entire cut locations, NPCs and dialogue options that nobody but me(and you, if you look at the screenshots) will never see. Unfortunately, there is a lot of cut concepts like this in the game, and you will find yourself wishing there was more than a handful of quests and locations since what is actually finished is great, that includes(most) voice acting surprisingly enough. This is a rarity for Fallout mods.

At it's core, New California is a microcosm of your average Fallout game: it has a beginning, middle and end with choices and consequences as well as factions to side with inbetween. The interesting part is that the mod, despite being shorter than most Fallout games, still has a rather high power level when it comes to gear and enemies you find, and that's because the game just loves showering you with skill books and perks to boost you up in the prologue chapter no matter which route you go for, you also get plenty of unique gear and high powered weapons from the start. You will need all of this since the mod loves to shower you with high amount of enemies as well, in fact swarming you with mooks is one of it's only tricks(which, to be fair, what else are you going to do with this engine?). If you have a poor PC, the mod just might crap out on you, make sure your computer can handle a lot of NPCs and intense battles or turn down your settings when playing if it can't. In either case, I actually really like what the mod has done here, it means that while it is short, it is dense with content and you get the experience of an entire Fallout game much faster than you would with a slow-burn experience like Fallout 2/Tactics or your typical 3D title. It is much more like Fallout 1, in that sense, where you get to the good stuff quicker than in those games I listed but the experience is over much quicker as well.

There is few cons, aside from the game's unfinished nature, some of the writing can be seen as cringy and there is a lot of references to pop culture and media circa late 2000s and early 2010s which might be seen as outdated(there is a fucking Total Biscuit protectron companion for god's sake), however it is not any worse than the onslaught of pop culture references seen in Fallout 2 and that game is still considered one of the best CRPGs of all time. If you have a problem with New California, chances are you can mod it out thanks to how easy Gamebryo is to work with, I can say that a lot of my mods from my vanilla New Vegas and TTW playthrus still work here as well so everything familiar in those games felt right at home here as well. The writing might be a con as well, depending on your taste, there is a lot of reaches here to give players the "ultimate" Fallout 1/2/3/New Vegas crossover and some might simply find it awful, I don't mind as the lore is actually pretty well written and it all makes sense once you put all the pieces together(you will have to pretty much read every note and terminal for this to happen, some of it is also dummied out content as well), but your casual player might simply find it painful, especially the donut steel characters that the game likes to throw at you sometimes. Still, it's not any worse than with other Fallout mods and certainly not as bad as The Frontier. For better or for worse, New California is one of the better mods for New Vegas, outdated as it is by today's standards, but it also comes with the same baggage a lot of these mods tend to come with.

Overall, I recommend Fallout: New California, it is much more faithful than Bethesda ever was with it's entries and despite it's few flaws, it is a fitting prologue chapter to Fallout: New Vegas, something I will play after I finish writing this since once New California ends, you just get thrown into Doc Mitchell's office with all your levels(but not your gear, you have to find that after you get done with Doc's tutorial) and your companions out in the world, if they survived. I won't let a good New Vegas playthru go to waste, even if New California was the highlight. Before I am done, a short technical write up for my character build and my experience with it, compared to my other Fallout games I already covered. I am running the exact same SPECIAL build as with other games, traits are Good Natured as it's always been and Claustrophobia from Fallout: London. As a melee only combatant and a pacifist character, I found that I was able to solve most of my problems with skill checks, those that I couldn't I could let my friends solve with their superior firepower since the game lets you have 5 companions ala Fallout 2 that can just ventilate your enemies for you under the right circumstances. Speaking of which, companions are very well integrated into the game, the prologue chapter introduces them well and there is an entire section of the post-vault sequence where the game checks your charisma/speech to see if you are even qualified to lead this group, which makes keeping them a reward in itself rather than a guarantee. Afterwords, the companions have a lot of interactions and things to say about your given faction quest of choice and some even have their own companion quests as well. That said, as I continued playing the mod and the power level kept escalating, I lost my friends one by one since there aren't a lot of stimpacks around, in fact I had to use an awful lot of drugs and depend on drinks/food for healing a lot of the time. By the time my final companion died, I was powerful enough to fight thru any situation, thanks to my good armor and and a good shield(feature exclusive to New California, essentially yet another armor slot). Melee weapons are a bit disappointing, as someone who uses one handed clubs I was not able to find anything better than a basic set of spiked knuckles I got from the lockers 15 minutes after starting the mod, so I was running with those for most of my experience just like the end game of my London playthru. Grenades helped a lot, but there aren't a lot of those, the mod favors gun toting or energy weapon using characters first and foremost. Still, I found melee only a lot of fun and really refreshing, as with all my other recent playthrus, and by the end I was really powerful with my fists. I can see myself depending on my spiked knuckles well into the end game when I get to the Mojave as I have grown to be quite a good unarmed combatant. Just like in London, my character is a cannibal and I also took Chemist perk, which I modded to let me create chems similarly to how you can combine various kinds in Fallout 4.This means that if I do get in a tough spot I will be able to use powerful custom made drugs to get myself out of that situation, however once I get back into Mojave I will also recruit a shitton of companions as well so that shouldn't be an issue. This is still a leadership-diplomacy build above all else, but I can throw a mean punch as well when I need to(literally, I downloaded a mod that lets you punch Benny when you meet him). I should also add that this mod has the only 100 Medicine skill check I can think of out of any Fallout game aside from maybe Nevada, so as someone who was doing a Science Boy playthru with high Science/Medicine, I appreciate that.

Once I am done with New Vegas side of New California, I will actually play Fallout 3, despite how much I shit on it here. I recently played a Xbox 360 game and I found my Xbox is still working relatively well after 20 years, so since I have a copy of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas I used to play back when the games came out(and I had a potato PC that couldn't handle these games), I think I will go back and play these two titles vanilla + DLC, how they were meant to be. Mods are all good, but I want to judge them on their own as well and see how they hold up, especially since I found my time with the old Xbox to be comforting in it's own right. Plus, New California actually sets up Fallout 3 almost as well as it does to set up New Vegas, so I can jump straight into a playthru of Fallout 3 and feel like I am playing a proper sequel, similarly to how I feel right at home in New California after playing Fallout 2.

Finished FF IV DS yesterday. A very solid time overall. Lategame wasn´t as hard as the midgame. Thought the fire dragon you have to fight if you want the crystal gauntlets killed me a few times before I had a savepoint in the final dungeon so I had to start the from the beggining each time I died, which annoyed me. Final boss wasn´t a hard challenge. Beat it first time without much problems.
The story wasn´t anything groundbreaking to me. But it was nice and it had a few twists that actually surprised me. Didn´t expect the ancient aliens stuff. And I thought Kain was gonna be Cecil´s brother and not Golbez.
A very nice experience if someone wants a JRPG that isn´t piss easy but still comfy enough. It leave me a bit exhausted thought. So I will get a break from the genre and get back to finish Onimusha 2. This time using multiple saveslots so the shit that it happened to me first time I tried to play it doesn´t happen again.
I have been playing Fallout 1. It has isometric perspective, but otherwise it's very easy to get into it, if you have played any actual RPG like Fallout NV before. The biggest difference is that charisma is not very useful in FO1. I suggest keeping it at 1-3 (it's much more useful in FO2). The waterchip time limit is not an issue and you can get more time if you go to water merchants at The Hub. But I didn't need the extra time. I will be playing Fallout 2 next. I need to finish the final boss (I'm planning on taking the peaceful route).

If you are interested, I was recommend to get Fallout Fixt.

> The biggest difference is that charisma is not very useful in FO1. I suggest keeping it at 1-3 (it's much more useful in FO2).
That's not exactly accurate. While it is true that Charisma is not as useful in F1 as it is in F2 and F3, it is definitely not a dump stat. Unlike in later games, where it tells you if there is a skill check involved, the older titles run skill checks and dice rolls pretty much all the time, in every conversation and interaction. Charisma isn't as important as speech or intelligence(good luck running a diplomat build with INT of less than 6) but it is never the less still vital to have it rather high. Funnily enough, if you are going to create a character that isn't going to fight, it's better to keep END or STR low since you don't need to carry a lot of stuff or have a lot of HP. Fallout 1 is very well designed for players who never, ever engage in combat and it's pretty short, so having a build that almost never fights and solely focuses on pacifist skills is absolutely viable. I would know, I did a diplomat playthru not too long ago for this game, with Jinxed trait to boot to make things even more interesting.
>>300949

Of course, if you're not going to do a diplomat run, CHR is absolutely not necessary(combat builds don't benefit from it much), but for pacifist runs it is one of the more vital primary statistics. I think CHR got a bad rep because it is functionally useless in New Vegas and Fallout 4, the two games most people play these days, but in older titles(minus Tactics) it was more useful.

If you're planning to do a peaceful/diplomat run for Fallout 2, I also played that game recently if you want to see what I thought of my playthru
>>305552
I don't need to tell you that CHR is absolutely vital for pacifist characters in 2 since each two points give you a companion slot(up to 5). You can now be a leader archetype instead of a pussy that runs away from fights, letting you finish difficult battles even with weak SPECIAL stats and low weapon skills.

>If you are interested, I was recommended to get Fallout Fixt
I prefer Fixt myself, but these days most people play Et Tu, which is more complete/polished and the entire first game was ported over into the more advanced Fallout 2 engine. I suggest doing one playthru on Fixt and another on Et Tu(game is pretty short so it shouldn't take you long) and see which one you like. Fallout 1 is not a purist friendly experience, there is zero reason to play the game without a fan project(same as with Fallout 2 without Restoration Project) unless you just want a genuinely more buggy, inferior experience, so choose Fixt or Et Tu and roll with it.
Replies: >>308403
>>308379
Fallout Fixt doesn't even fix all the bugs in the original Fallout. The game really is comically broken and unfinished.
