Sleepychan has always been more slow than dead. But if you ask where the other anons went, dunno. Personally, last time I felt like leaving zzzchan, I tried going back to 8chan for a bit, but that didn't last, because it took less than 24 hours to have my posts nuked by Mark for expressing opinions he didn't like, because that fat fuck is incorrigible in his incompetence.

Seems fine to me boss.

>Where did all the GOOD anons go?
I personally believe the combination of political instability, economical downturn and armed conflicts that have appeared one after the other since 2020 have taken a toll on the stock of imageboard autists.
So people who would otherwise be spending time here have been pushed by the circumstances to other spheres. So they are either wage slaving, shilling a preferred political outcome on social media or just too depressed to put effort into making silly content for anonymous mongolian basketweaving forums.

I, too.
Kind of expected to be living lavishly since before I had no income in comparison, but I'm just running circles in debt at the moment while pouring my life into work.

See this poses the very old question: What is a more valuable use of a man's time? To spend it in accumulating wealth and multiplying the material availability in society or rather to prioritize leisure and pursue artistic perfection, contemplation and study?
People with the mental capacity to hold worthwhile discussions or the imagination to produce beautiful things becoming too occupied with toils to make use of those gifts is a lamentable thing.
>>333737
The problem is that even though the second option is the best, you do need some measure of material success or wealth to be able to pursue those activities.

The most maddening one: being intentionally denied the ability to work hard and trade time, to get the material wealth, to pursue the second. Also, nice digits.

Too many hobbies online have been flooded with bullshit. I don't mean just trannies and bots, those only made things worse. But even before that, there were already lots of people using lawyer terms like "IP", or business terms like "franchise", when talking about games. And I don't mean they use it in very specific/narrow topics about copyright or whatever, they just use those terms casually all the time. It's a real downer, man.
Long ago when I was a kid, we never used those terms. We didn't even think in those terms, because we were 100% busy just playing the games and having fun. I copied so many games on floppy disks back in the day, without a single thought beyond "Oh yeah, more games!" And I never knew what someone was going to give me next, it was always a surprise. Most of these games I'd never even heard of, because my only news was some computer magazines, and I rarely bought those. And I played them all, no matter how good or bad they were. The only ones I ever deleted are those that crashed, either because of buggy code or a bad copy. Every game was precious to me, because unlike today there was no way to download entire sets of disk images. Whatever little I managed to get on the local sneakernet, that's all I had.
So it was more about the games (or other hobby) themselves, less about other bullshit, including their monetisation and endless youtube "personalities", etc.

Honestly life is shit. I say if you can put time into something that makes you happy then you have already won at life. The problem with the current times is that there are so many things out there that mask "feeling good" with being happy.

Hedonism is not the answer to life being challenging. The proof is an entire generation (boomers) failing at it.

Two are here (looking at you >>333730 and >>333737).
>>333789
You mean about my work? I guess I could, but frankly, it's so boring that I don't think anyone would care. Besides that, the idea of being doomed to wagecuck just makes me sad.
>>333703 (OP)
It's been said before and I'll say it again. Modern imageboards, the webring included, are crab buckets of backbiting retards totally uninterested in discovering the truth or in having fun, only in being as miserable as possible. Combine that with actively hostile moderation, and you can get the picture. Most of the good anons aren't going to bother with shit like this; they're going to hang out in their own spaces or deal with IRL things. Most of the remainder are, as other anons have mentioned, either too busy or too apathetic to post and make OC. No OC = no life.
>>333752
6 year olds today are so consumerized, it's insane. You have small children who know every brand of clothes or phone or car.
This isn't healthy for the mind or the soul.
Capitalism, it turned out, was not good.

That's just the Internet as a whole, everything has gone downhill since the 90's. The bullshit started with the big coporations trying to monetise every click and track everyone, sell ads, etc. Then it only got worse as D&C politics infested everything after Occupy Wall Street.
BTW, I don't like the word "content", which you've abreviated as OC. We never said that in the 90's, on Internet or in the BBS scene. We just said message, post, information, and such. "Content" implies there's a producer making it (with all the associated legal ramifications), and there's a consumer consuming it. It's a very jewed way of looking at things, and I have no doubt this vocabulary was pushed by the big corporations, just like they pushed "platform" (which implies you need special FAGMAN service like facebook or twitter to communicate).
The point is, Ithis the enemy's vocabulary, and it's very insidious. If you allow them to control your vocabulary, then they control your communication, and thus your thoughts.

What did moderation do to you?
>No OC = no life.
You make an important point here. Would you agree that it will bring more life to the board, since it will incentivize other anons to create OC as the snowball effect takes place? In other words, isn't OC a result of a lively board (honest question)?
>Modern imageboards, the webring included, are crab buckets of backbiting retards totally uninterested in discovering the truth or in having fun, only in being as miserable as possible.
Anon, how do you think we could overcome that?

I have been pondering if banning doomer anons would help by shifting the quality balance. I would appreciate if anons >>333730 and >>333737 could also give their takes on the last two questions.

/b/ might not be the most appropriate place to discuss this, as it is at the epicenter of the problem. If anons have a suggestion of where to follow up with it, I all ears.
>>333703 (OP)
I just got here. Whats up?
>>333730
There is a sense of exhaustion. Also, it gets tiring posting about something interesting, and getting mobbed by doomers. Its like no one wants to have fun and create anything anymore.
>>333827
There is also a lack of direction or goals. For me, I enjoyed the chans the most when there was a sense of celebration and appreciation of high culture, and also things discussed were to be utilized IRL. I'm not talking about political extremist shit, but there was the culture of self-improvement, for example.
>>333846
I have been thinking about the vocabulary thing for a while, like how economic/business vocabulary is now used to discuss and describe everything.
>>333833
The internet has lowered iq massively. You can see it online and irl. The lockdowns made it worse by forcing everyone towards social media.
