This be for those inquisitive spirits, who-in their various guises and natures, hesitate to provide the full assembly, vigor, and moral rectitude to recite their own queries upon their own divine forum; yet still entreat those around them, and still ask such queries to themselves whither their faculties, be they upon them or not, wish that they do yet may land, and which create a modest repose and location whereupon the voices of the muse that so graced Homer of old to answer such here.

I guess I'll start.
Does anyone have any inventory tips? Every game I play that has an inventory system I inevitably:
>Hoard compulsively things that I 'really'' don't need.
>Spend hours just managing inventory in menus instead of playing the game.
I'm in the 3rd disc of .Hack IMOQ for like a year now and I don't want to play it because every time I get back to base I'm just doing tedious inventory management. I realize now it's not the game's fault. It's because I don't want to let any item go because I think it's a rare drop.
This also happens to me all the time in Fallout games.

I guess that's an issue that should only happen on your first playthough, but once you know what you're expecting, then there's no reason to hoard.
>This also happens to me all the time in Fallout games.
If you already know how the game goes, and how rare weapons are, and you have a build you are sticking to in that playtrough; then realistically there's like ten items you would be using and then you stash/sell everything else. Why would you hoard?

If you hate that shit never play the Ultima games. They have some of the worst inventory bullshit I have ever seen because every little stupid object could be used for a puzzle in some dungeon so your bags are FILLED with garbage the whole game.

>Why would you hoard?
BECAUSE THE MORE I CAN CLICK THE 'CRAFT' BUTTON THE HARDER THE DOPAMINE HIT.
Fallout New Vegas my inventory is full of crap because I saw it can be used in a crafting recipe or broken down for parts in another crafting recipe or "that gun isn't _quite_ down in condition, so I can can hold on to three of them yet" and then I spend 5 hours walking at a snail's pace while encumbered so I can sell every plate, tin can, and fork possible.
Fallout 4 is far worse.
>I guess that's an issue that should only happen on your first playthough, but once you know what you're expecting, then there's no reason to hoard.
It's not _just_ a hoarding thing. It's often a minmax thing. For example, in IMOQ, towards the later discs you have weapons/armor that give great off/def in 1 element, and not just shitty but negative stats in the other elements. 6 elemental types and 6 player classes. So, in theory there are 36 different kinds of player armor/weapons to keep around. More than that, because you're filling out a party of 3 out of a roster usually around 10. And you can only store 99 items. But then you also have to keep rares like the goblin set and golden/silver axes, which means...
I end up ignoring all of that, but spending 90% of my playtime minmaxing all the weapons, helms/chestplates/boots across everyone. And then there are special trades to consider...I hate it.

Did Metroid Prime 4 kill the series for good?

Probably the prime series but I doubt it killed the entire series.

I can still believe the news that Retro was told to work on the next game and that they are able to use all the assets and tools from this Prime 4 to make a Prime 5. Though not much hope given they would have to remove shitty dialogue, empty mpas, and returning to hubs spots to get upgrades.

This. In the OP you can click on the referenced post, which is the old thread, and see it's autosaged.
This isn't a question, but I unironically like Samus because she's the only woman I know who can not speak for a whole game.

This. 2D Metroids seem like something Nintendo is willing to farm out periodically, but I don't think it's ever getting the post-GCN Nintendo equivalent of an AAA treatment for the foreseeable future.

I don't think it's DEAD dead, like F-Zero, More like Star Fox or Kirby, where it's doomed to low budget spinoffs and remakes.

>>314863
I think if that were true, they'd finish re-re-remastering the original trilogy. Especially since that's what they were already in the middle of doing before Nintendo dumped BamCo's if rumors are true even more cancerous abortive WIP of MP4 in Retro's lap to salvage, causing Retro to bulk up staff by hiring a fresh crop of retards from 343i.

I've been a loot goblin my entire life, however as I grew older and time for video games grew tighter, I started optimizing my builds and sessions with only as much as I needed. This led me to realize how much loot I could get away with skimping on and only focusing on what I liked/wanted to use, more importantly I started playing around with less used or liked equipment or builds simply to test them out. Since you mentioned Fallout, I agree with what this anon said

>>314851
There is only a handful of items you need in any given playthru, and going for other weapons or armor is a waste of time unless you plan on giving them to your companions. Good example of the current run I am doing(which is documented in the "what are you playing" and Friday Night threads) has me focusing on using light armor, unarmed(bare fists or knuckles, no power fists), one handed blunt and throwing weapons like spears or grenades, absolutely no guns aside from utility items like Dart Gun or Compliance Regulator which have a defensive use to them and aren't really good in a normal firefight. I found that I absolutely didn't need to do vast majority of quests or even visit some locations and instead just needed to prioritize a few locations or quests to get the items I needed. Everything else was just gravy and I could choose to ignore it or collect and sell it later, more importantly every game I played with this build could be completed without firing a single firearm, something most people wouldn't even think of doing aside from a challenge run. This unconventional build led me to playing the games in a way I would never do otherwise and had me evaluating usefulness of items that many normally ignore. I've been doing this for a long time, both with Fallout and other games, best thing to do is plan out what gear and playstyle/build you want to make and then laser focus on it. You would be surprised just how flexible some games are, and most games are simply not worth wasting time on minmaxing every piece of gear or selling every bit of trash for money you won't need anyways. Games like this really have to work overtime to make me care and feel like they deserve to have me play like this again.

Forget the contrarianism for a moment: is Earthbound/Mother 2 actually worth playing? I last played it when I was 12 and something put me off sometime after Threed, but any honest opinions from elsewhere are gonna be drowned out by the "Earthbound fan excited to play his favorite game for the first time" audience. For full disclosure I also played and didn't finish Mother 3 when I was a kid but that was because I just got filtered by a boss.

I remember once someone defended Adam Sandler movies by saying, "His movies are not for depressed 40 year old uncles, they're for 8 year old boys still into fart jokes," and having been so accurately and utterly destroyed, I properly shut up.
I think Earthbound is similar. It's a game for a kid, maybe young adult. If you're an unc, it's not going to have the same hit.

Earthbound is just about having a bizarre adventure. The gameplay is there primarily to service the existence of the weird enemies, but is fast enough to be enjoyable.
There's also a bit of nostalgia themes.

Remember the guys who made Kirby also made Earthbound.

I would ignore what everyone else says about it.
As I have actually recently beaten Earthbound, I can say it was fun and worth playing.
It's more about seeing fun weird shit. The game is not super long either.
Bottle rockets are OP and you should use them.
>>314908
Also I forgot to mention you should put in your real name when the game asks. There is a reason for it. It hooks into Satellaview over the SNES's built in networking port and sends your information to the NSA. jk

Metroid Prime has the honesty and respect for the player's intelligence to admit you can't actually control 3D shooters with gamepad thumbsticks, due to its explicit lock-on targeting, this also helps free up player attention for platforming. Halo, however, is an uninteractive movie presented as a fake game, using Dora the Explorer/Blue's Clues-style fake "game" "mechanics" to make the "player" (audience) believe they're "aiming" in a "shooter", because Bungie/Microsoft has zero respect for their audience.

Reminder that Halo ≥4/Destiny/"Marathon" retains early-7th-gen levels of crazy auto-aim on console even after the rest of the console shooter industry (including its most infamous accomplices like CoD & R6) have greatly toned theirs down, that all of their PC ports back to Halo 1 retain auto-aim even on KB/M, that Microsoft's Sidewinder brand had a variety of PC gamepad designs capable of controlling FPSs properly which were rejected for the original XBox gamepad that they knew would be used for Halo as their biggest launch title, and that the latest XBox is STILL the only console without gyro aim.

This is a very drunk post, and I have very little experience in JRPGs in general, so pardon me if this ends up being more retarded than it needs to be.
From my memory (I last played it as a teenager), I'd say it is. Earthbound is like the sorts of imaginative worlds kids conjure up when they're playing together, and how they repurpose everyday objects as standins for their make-belief. It isn't so much a great story as it is a fun journey with a lot of memorable moments, aided by that rolling HP counter which pushes you towards ballsy playstyles and moments that wouldn't be possible in a system where player damage is immediate.
All the dark moments and the ending which Nintentoddlers obsess over aren't really meant to be 2deep4u, but are more like how bits of real-world darkness and struggle inevitably creep in to that sort of imaginative play. Mother 3, from what I played of it back then, was a pretty obvious extension of this.
Really, don't worry about what Nintendo manchildren think of it. They're obsessed with proving children's games are "adult" instead of appreciating them on their on their own terms. If you want to revisit the Mother series, do it regardless of their opinions and form your own opinions on it. As you say, most of them haven't played the games anyways.
>For full disclosure I also played and didn't finish Mother 3 when I was a kid but that was because I just got filtered by a boss.
Where was it? I stopped my playthrough back then at the Fassad bossfight in Fire Mountain, although I can't remember why.
