I've found Supertux to be unplayable ever since they removed the lives system. Whoever is in charge the project now doesn't seem to understand anything about arcade platform game design. Collecting coins solely for the sake of collection is NOT a compelling reason for their existence.
>>304667
>Whoever is in charge of the project now doesn't seem to understand anything
so it's like every other gnu/leftism project
>>304667
Lives don't really make sense when you have a ton of levels, each designed by a different person, making it difficult to linearly distribute lives, just like Super Mario World. They made sense in SuperTux when the game used to be very short, but I don't think anyone wants to restart 14 hours of game just because they ran out of lives. Most games with lives are either games you can finish in 30 minutes to an hour, or they just have continues anyway which makes lives just symbolic. At least the coins in SuperTux are like a mini-challenge where it marks you've found all the coins on a level. Plus since there's no lives they can just make the game overall more challenging.
Replies: >>304673
>>304671
Platformers figured out how to address the problem you're articulating 40 years ago. The solution is partial game over: instead of the entire game ending when you fail, your progress instead gets set back to a save point. A save point every ten levels or so is fine. It works well and ensures that extra lives are still useful and worth pursuing, and it means they can still function to give your game the depth of risk-reward scenarios. It's especially embarrassing for a platformer obviously copying Mario games to not understand this basic design concept.

>or they just have continues anyway which makes lives just symbolic
Yeah, when done poorly. When done correctly the two forms of continuation span a hierarchy of progress that makes both meaningful. I can't think of any oldschool 2D Mario game that actually fails at this, so it's hard to imagine how an oldschool 2D Mario clone misses it. Yoshi's Island and Super Mario World are well-deserving of the criticism that they hand out 1ups far too generously, but they do still have a functional hierarchy between lost life continuation and game over continuation.

Maybe we need a SuperTuxCountry to get at the very well-crafted balance between lives and continue mechanics in the Donkey Kong Country games.

The lead or whoever it was explicitly stated (paraphrasing) that Super Tux is meant to be a game "for children" and as such it can't be too difficult (if you contribute levels they can't be too difficult) or have anything remotely "violent".
It really is a joke project that demonstrates the power of freetardism, considering it hasn't gotten a full release in over two decades or however long it's been in "development" for.
If you want an open source game a million times better, look no further than an open source emulator with ROMs for real video games.
Or if even "proprietary" ROMs are not fine with you, even in the realm of Mario-style platformers with a level editor, there's a way better open source game, that being TheXTech, an open source (C++) clone of Super Mario Bros X. They even optionally provide downloads with the copyrighted Nintendo assets replaced by some Discord tranny OCs, so that should make it as kosher to the Freetard as Super Tux.

It's a shame you have such a slave mentality, there's actually some excellent games in the libre game scene now. The problem is there is a certain bias in the types of game genres represented in the scene. Libre game development is dominated by northern Europeans, who are historically clueless when it comes to arcade action design. It's where the term "Euroshmup" comes from after all.

<being free to pirate and play any of the thousands of great "proprietary" games (most of them ROMs you can boot up on an open source emulator or jailbroken always-offline console) instead of limiting yourself to unfinished Github projects is "slave mentality"
Freetardism is a mental illness.

>The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Taiki Hirokawa, entered the store alone and headed toward the shop counter where the victim was stationed. After attacking the victim, he stabbed himself and was later confirmed dead at the hospital. He has previously been arrested for stalking the victim.
>The two met at work in December 2023 in the city of Hachioji in western Tokyo and began dating in October of the following year, according to authorities. After their relationship ended in July 2025, the victim filed a report to the police in December, saying her ex-boyfriend was stalking her.

>Does Bioshock drop the ball that hard compared to SS2?
Let me preface this by saying I still think Bioshock 1 (and even 2) are still good games. But when compared to SS1 and SS2 the reduction of mechanics and the direction of the story left a lot to be desired. I only played System Shock 2 after Bioshock 2 but when I realized we lost a fully fleshed out inventory system, a lot more meaningful character progression, reduced weapon variety/modifications, and honestly just more interesting enemy encounters and storybeats. It did show that the Bioshock 1 team did a surface level facelift of the System Shock games and propped their own up on inarguably better visuals and an equal level of atmosphere. I wouldn't say any of the games would be known for complicated puzzles, but System Shock stands above the Bioshock games because the player has a lot more meaningful options to make with how they progress through the two space stations. Whereas Bioshock reduces this into a mostly singular choice between saving the Little Sisters or harvesting them for less ADAM than you get for the good option.

Bioshock Infinite is the game people rip on the most because it was the one that promised a lot with its original trailers and concept pitches. But was ultimately released and shown to be the most shallow of all the entries by a country mile. 2 weapon limit, absolutely retarded story, abysmal upgrade systems, etc. The whole game is toothless modern (for it's time) FPS shit and destroyed the franchise.

You should still play Bioshock 1 and 2 imo. They are good games. But if you have played and enjoyed the System Shock titles you are going to get less of that experience at the end of the day. And if you get angry that the Bioshock games deprived us of a proper System Shock 3, that's also understandable.

You take that back. Goggles here ran like a crackdemon, switching however many weapons he had on the fly while sniping muties around the corner. Guns had that feedback old games like UT had, not terribly showy but shots felt like they hit like a truck.
The real crime here was how neither the annelid launcher nor the reactor cannon did anymore damage than the grenade launcher did when you got them at the Rickenbacker.

I meant it more in the way the gameplay felt.
The plasma gun was huge disapointment for example.
You hurt yourself more when you upgraded your running and accidently hit walls and such.
The shard wasnt that great either.
Also the psi things were practically useless unless you started as psi corps.
It was a fairly decent game all in all but the rpg elements were pretty bad.
The weapon deterioration also felt over the top.
Frankly the research and looking for the element were quite a drag in general.
The graphics were fairly dated too even for its time, i used a mod that upgraded them but even with that it felt subpar.
I liked the story and atmosphere very much but much of the gameplay dragged it down.
The grenade launcher range was pretty pathetic as well.
Switching between ammo types felt like a huge drag at times.
All in all it was worth playing trough a few times, but if you chose the wrong path on your first playtrough it would end up a terrible experience.
The concept was pretty good but in practice i must say it was pretty poor gameplay that dragged it down.
It took multiple playtroughs to figure out how to play it and how not.
Replies: >>307185

Eh. You have a shitton of ammo, barely deteriorates on shot and the alternate shooting mode is powerful enough. Pretty useful for low value enemies.
>You hurt yourself more when you upgraded your running and accidently hit walls
I don't recall that being a deal breaker. At most, being careless enough to ram into walls took 4 points off your health, and it's not as if you weren't stacking health packs if you chose the cyber-assimilation upgrade.
>The shard wasnt that great either
The shard's the best melee weapon in the game, though I agree not by a long shot. I assume melee had to be balanced around the heavy stun gun which paralized enemies. One shot and however many hits with the shard, and with one-two extra shots with the peashooter a Rumbler was done with barely a dent in your ammo.
>Switching between ammo types felt like a huge drag at times
Non-issue, press the B button. You reloaded stupidly fast as well, no "realistic" 10-seconds-long reloading animation for your grenade launcher unlike subsequent games.
What the game could have done with is a HUD strip with numbered slots in the inventory that let you decide which weapon was mapped to which key without having to tamper with the keyboard settings. It's egregious having the peashooter still mapped as '1' while fighting psi reavers and rumblers all the way inside The Many.
>The weapon deterioration also felt over the top
Non-issue, but that's on the player to bloat the Maintain perk at least to level 4 early in-game.
>the research and looking for the element were quite a drag in general
That I agree with, considering most of these detours were a worthless passive bonus. But then again, how would (You) realistically implement a "Research" skill into a videogame? For example, when it comes to unbeknowst alien tech the player controlled character is not supposed to quite understand yet nor ever.

It's not, it's a game from a studio in korea whose biggest claim to fame is making a Darkest Dungeon clone that had a set in stone protagonist (so you get a game over if she dies).
Played it ages ago. It was pretty meh. I remember pissing off anarchists because I helped the dwarves and a foxboy died because I ignored his gay side quest.
I think they had the IP stolen from them by their publisher though so they've made these 3 horror games since then, and while their artist is nice, sidescrolling is not really fit for what they're trying to do.

>>307582
It's a multiplayer live service game made by Bungie who is owned by Activision. They spent a lot of time and testicles on this. Already lost 90% of their playerbase in two months, which from what I understand is not sustainable for a live service game.

They also made it an extraction shooter that has extremely annoying always enabled PvP while at the same time presenting it as a baby game about having fun with your friends. So people were trying to figure out how the fuck to do the early quests while the special PvP class you can play as camps 100 miles away with thermals on, and snipes their entire team through the fog.

They could have made a new Myth or Oni game or a Marathon game that was just Halo but crazier. Instead they released "safe" cookie cutter dogshit.

Think of it like the state of the burgerlard comics industry since the '70s, where from a direct commercial perspective it is totally irrelevant, with circulation numbers at a tiny fraction of any other country's comics industry, and deeply negative revenue, subsidized on life support solely to copyright/trademark squat IP for movies/games/merch of real commercial value. Note this was itself was the product of USA's comic industry being sterilized by Christards in the '50s, leaving behind the inevitably dying Silver Age, not unlike what the SJWs did to AAA vidya c. ~2007. Commercially viable comic industries exist elsewhere, such as manga, Franco-Belgian, and webcomics, but the spectres of DC & Marvel will never have any impact on them.

In vidya, all existing AAA studios will soon die without issue, all of the AAA franchises will persist only as IP portfolios from some private equity firm (for example, look at how BG3 was plundered from Bioware's corpse by a slavjank AA studio for pennies.) The future of the real industry will be a split between indies/AA midsize studios making "core" vidya, and Saudi/Chink slopfarms churning out mobileshit/socialshit freemium MTX whalemilkers for casuals.

On top of that, if AI eventually causes Hollywood to implode as an industry, the Hollywood-wannabe pretentious twerps that form the primary recruiting base of SJWs currently abusing vidya as a stepping stone to film/TV will have their hopes and dreams crushed to dust as well.

This idiot is rehashing the traps argument.

If you are attracted to what seems to be a woman but it turns out to be a man what does it mean?

It means you are attracted to women.

Does it mean that that is a woman?

No, it's a man pretending to be a woman or being mistaken for a woman but its not a woman.

Furthermore from your perspective it was a woman until the truth was revealed that it was a man.

If I give you a piece of chocolate that turns our to be made of plastic, does that make it some sort of new type of chocolate?

No, its plastic mistaken for chocolate. No one in their right mind, no matter how convincing the illusion is until you bite into it, will call it a new type of chocolate.

Furthermore, you are identifying masculinity as equalling male and femininity as equalling female.

A very masculine woman is still a woman, not a man, and a very feminine man is still a man, not a woman.

And this is what I mean when I say that the trannies are the most strict enforcers of gender roles out there.

You cannot be a masculine female, you must be a male, you cannot be a feminine male, you must be a female.

Sex is chromosomes and sex cell production.

What about intersex?

Either pseudohermaphrodites or true Hermaphrodites

In the first care they have a single sex, very cleanly as per my chromosome and sex cell definition

A male with cais is still a male, if you look at the "pussy" you will see it is very easily distinguished from female genitalia.

There's one hole not two, and there is no clitoris. Among other differentiating features.

No one would make the mistake of treating it as a true female setup unless they were retarded.

Females with clits that look like cocks are females whose hormones are out of control, however, those are clearly enlarged clitorises and not penises

Now for true Herms.

We have a merger of opposite sex fraternal twins in the womb, that happens, and now they have two sets of DNA in one human, one of them female the other male.

Right? But one is dominated over the other in every case we've seen.

This is a disorder and perhaps we could say that this counts as a dual sexed individual

What other bullshit arguments are there?

If you can identify as another sex why can't you identify as a different age or race?

Someone who identifies as another race is valid because they assume the experience of being that race when they pass as them

Someone who identifies as another age is valid because at one time they were that age, they know the experience of being seen as the age at which they identify

Furthermore in the case of age and race, we could note that all humans come from Africa, supposedly for the sake of argument, and so everyone gets to be black and receive the benefits we provide to blacks

And as for age identification, we've had terms like mental age which were used in law and other official places for a long time, so why all for a sudden when people are identifying with these ages are they now invalid?

Either we accept all three, or we accept that all three are complete batshit insanity.

Choose it.

Once you know it's a man, the wave function collapses and you are now disgusted by it. If you continue to be attracted you are a twisted homosexual. Being fooled momentarily (usually by an image or porn) is just a sign you should stop watching porn. Being fooled IRL is significantly less likely.

The intersex shit is just an anomaly. Trying to work it into a category as if it's normal is the fallacy. Some human might have 3 arms. Some humans might have extra fingers. But the statement that humans have 2 arms and 10 fingers is true while saying humans have 3 arms and 12 fingers is false.
Replies: >>307894
Minor autism, because you can't give trannies and their chasers any room to breath in a debate.

>>307886
>chromosomes and sex cell production
Rookie mistake, the latter is the sole criterion. Don't get caught in the chromosome rabbithole. Males are the genotype which can produce viable small gametes (sperm,) females are the genotype which can produce viable large gametes (eggs.) Genotypically sterile mutants are neither male nor female, and arguably not a member of a species at all.
>true Hermaphrodites
Technically, this refers to individual creatures capable (whether simultaneously or sequentially at different points in its lifespan) capable of producing both gametes, notably including certain amphibians and fish. Due to unique characteristics of the mammalian Y-chromosome that render gonadal tissue viability mutually exclusive, true hermaphroditism is 100% theoretically impossible in all mammals, including humans. As such, conspicuous "intersex" conditions in mammals all fall under the informal category of "pseudohermaphroditism".
>a merger of opposite sex fraternal twins in the womb
You're referring here, of course, to germline mosaic chimerism. For the same reasons as noted previously, it is impossible in mammals for two sexes of gonadal tissue to be fertile in the same individual, even from separate genomes.

>>307887

If the people of the Middle Kingdom could help themselves and engage in honest marketing and business practices they would be absolutely unstoppable, and mankind (or at least gaming) would be greatly benefited.
