A thread for the curious and the not-so daring; short (1)-and-done questions, some cheap advice, awful posts you respectfully type in the reply field instead of the thread box, anything. Anything videogames. The thread about videogames for the videogame lovers in this videogames board.

A question that's been sitting on my mind, how do these girl-centric franchises with a six gazillion girls and essentially no men canonically deal with reproduction? For example Touhou or Kemono Friends (which is technically a videogame foremost), where many different different species of cute girls inhabit the same time, and some still have relatively short lifespans. In Kemono Friends I believe it's a fantastic substance that reacts with animals in order to produce cute girls, and that transformation can revert back, as well as it is implied friends live very long lives. However, once morphed into girls, they're girls right? Do they reproduce? I'd like to know. This is videogames, at the end of the day.

They just happen to hang out withn their friends is that just so hard to believe? that's basically been true for most if not all of history until recent where women tried to attach themselves to men only for it to back fire and men avoid them entirely.
>>295069
Sure but then what? They're hanging out, but hanging out will last until they're dead. Who will hang out then? Don't they know they have to reproduce?
Even the anime said something about Friends dying. Do they know about reproduction?

All of those are /v/ greatest hits so I'm not willing to spoonfeed, but to throw you a bone I think two of them are Hotline Miami.
Waifus operate differently than conventional "real life tm"

They exist sort of as an essence and each person who has the waifu has their own customized individual version of her as his own, and (any true) waifus are virgins in their essence, and it's only after the customized unique splitting to their owners do they then sexo, not touching or corrupting the original essence of the waifu.

It's simple meta-waifuism.

The vast majority of 2hus are mythological beings in the form of cute girls who rarely "reproduce" like humans do if at all, and the few ningenhus are small in number while also hanging out with their girl friends as >>295069 said.
Men do exist in the Human village according to the spinoff Mangos but they're not given any focus outside those because 2hu is gaem about cute girls shooting boolit while flying around.

Help me pick between Dead Rising 3 and Dying Light? I'm really craving a good zombie game and I've already played the first two Dead Rising games + OTR, L4D2, Prototype and Plants vs Zombies.
I've tried to get into Dying Light a couple times previously but the first third is just so slow and boring that I almost always drop it and to be honest I'm not sure Dead Rising 3 keeps what I enjoy about Dead Rising either. If you have a better recommendation, please let me know. I keep hearing that the zombie genre was "oversaturated" yet there's less than half a dozen good games.

I can't quite seem to get into games now as hard as i used to, because i'm constantly tabbing to windows or other programs, checking this and looking at that. Maybe find a way to isolate yourself so it's a pain in the ass to do something that isn't just playing the game, assuming you aren't already gaming in a maximally comfortable position.

i like the themes of a game but hate its gameplay and how tedious and unneccessarily difficult it is, specially considering that there are games in the same genre that are way better and more enjoyable, is it ok to just watch a uncommentated longplay to get the gist of it and then use the themes in my own personal projects? i just don´t have the motivation to do any of this shit anymore and im tired of people yelling at me online i also may have undiagnosed derpession, but i wouldn´t know because i am still on a waiting list for the shrink and i am relying on the public health system because i am dead broke picture not related

Replies: >>295760 >>295769

I always feel like you need to quantify [fun]. I look at Dark Souls, and i think it looks like an adventure, an experience, a struggle, which would make it thrilling and moving, but i'd hesitate to say [fun], since i reserve that for things that are fast and colorful, like most N64 games. Even FF7, the greatest game of all time, isn't 100% fun and has terse and emotional moments inbetween the really wacky shit like arriving in Costa Del Sol for the first time. You can enjoy a game for reasons other than [fun], and if you want to suggest Dark Souls to people, i'm not sure you should call it [fun] outright, they way you could, say, Sengoku Basara.
Replies: >>295761
>>295760
It seemed like the guy I responded to was using Dark Souls as an example of a game that is a chore but people still praise. I wanted to point out that it isn't a chore to everyone, whereas I would find something like FF7 a complete chore and I can't make any real progress in that game without dropping it.

In my opinion, something like Darkest Dungeon is a huge chore, a game that punishes you and gives you setback after setback even when you do well at it. It always feels frustrating to me.

>>295652
You know, I think I can better explain my issue now. It's about...how I play that I suppose I'm asking for advice on.

Take NetHack for example. I end up trying to loot EVERYTHING and packrat to the goddam extreme, even when I'm being swarmed and NEED TO FUCKING RUN. This leads to either early death, constant encumbrance issues, or spending an hour every play session just managing inventory slots. I do this shit instinctively in every goddam RPG because I never know when I'm playing a game that rewards me for 100% keeping and finding every little thing.
Or just overall trying to over optimize the shit out of everything, which leads me to reading menus for a goddam year. dot Hack is the worst at this, because there are 8 different element types x ~3 different equipment types x ~4 different class types = 128 different types of equipment to horde, read through the stat pages of, and I only have ~100 storage slots, and then there are also special one-off armors and equipment and...
Or constantly making 35 different save files because, "Wait, a dialogue tree, I better save here in case 247 hours later in my game I needed to answer Y instead of X."
Or...
It's OCD behavior bullshit. That's how to summarize it. Autistic fucking OCD behaviors that end up ruining my fun every time. I get caught up in all of this shit and never play the goddam game and read menus and stat pages for hours wishing I could stop already.

that is not the point, the point is "Games are supposed to be fun/not a chore" type of self-help advice isn´t really real, people like to pretend gatekeeping, brigading and elitism aren´t real, i think i posted about this on /b/ there is this movie called "Revolver" at the end of the movie in the director´s cut you have a bunch of shrinks talking about how "there is no external enemy" and everything is just a projection, this is a luxury belief, the truth is some people outhere just want you dead for breathing, again, in this very board there are people yelling "git gud" like a mantra, there are entire communities and subcultures based around laughing at people and telling them to kill themselves, an entire school of tryhardism that predicates that every game should be played at max difficulty, the Lolcow phenomenon, etc...

i simply cannot take the "Do it yourself brother believe your truth!" advice because it is simply, not real, it runs on the (false) assumption that if i mention the game series that i dropped there wont be an entire brigade of people yelling at me and telling me to kill myself

Knights and merchants is fun if you are into the Resource Management City building Settlers style of game, the fanmade Remake that is around there has Tryhard-level AI though, the base game is fun but it has a lot of levels that feel more like timed puzzles, im bad at management games though, but if you do like it you have the Settlers series and Cultures to go off

If this requires to connect back to the internet at least once a week to allow you access to your games, and you can't have physical games with this device, then this device is a prime example of "You will own nothing and be happy." right? Not only that, but what exactly is the incentive of this over a PC running Steam? What exactly are you 'owning' here? You're purchasing a box to let you purchase leases? By all current indications it's a custom-made desktop PC running SteamOS, which is an Arch Linux derivative with no hard always-online requirement for the system itself.
>you can't have physical games with this device
I haven't heard anything about SteamOS banning the use of USB disc drives???
And even if that were so it's extremely unlikely for Gay Ben to put in a gay secure boot-tier lockout to prevent the goyim from installing G*ntoo.

It's an SFF PC with a normalnigger-oriented gayman Linux distribution with Steam preinstalled and drivers+settings configured out of the box so the negro community doesn't get a heart attack upon turning it on.

Valve really dropped the ball not having some sort of physical media component. With even normies gushing about owning worthless plastic, people would be all over it.
All they would have to do is put some proprietary port on there that will fit a cartridge with a small SSD in it, people would pay the premium.

Blu-rays are still being pressed in large quantities, flash storage is cheap (not as cheap as it was 6 months ago but still), and they're literally making their own hardware to compete with consoles. They could of easily incorporated their own cartridge-like format or just added a small disc drive.

Completely irrelevant outside of consoles and Hi-fi enthusiasts due to the still-bloated prices of BD drives and increases in Internet bandwidth making them questionable data carriers for video games right from the get go, unlike DVDs which during the glory days of the PS2 had enough capacity to service the majority of games but also existed during a time when many gaymurs both on PC still used 56k modems or sub-200kbps DSL/Cable to access the Internet.

Relatively cheap yes, but we're no longer in the 1980s in terms of dedicated proprietary cartridge formats and I highly doubt Gay Ben would want to make some car manufacturer-tier super speshul encrypted SD card copypasta complete with a proprietary kernel driver for the otherwise OSS Steamy Dong line.

But why would they want to? It's a Steam machine. They want you to use it to play games you buy through Steam. Putting data on any kind of non-digital media is the exact opposite of that.

But let's say they do sell blurays with games on them. Game gets updated, because modern soydevs can't into finishing games on release. So now they'd have to:
-Add functionality to their store to deliver updates for your bluray (more work for them)
-Pay to produce the physical product in the first place, when just making you download costs them basically nothing
-Verify it's a legit copy somehow (yay more DRM)
Or even worse you need to both have the disc and activate a code on Steam (thus making the disc mostly useless, can't resell it for instance). Basically removing any benefit of owning physical media, you still don't own nothing goy, but with the added benefit that if you lose the disc you're also fucked.

That was my first experience with steam

I since then have lost that account and have made a new one and only have one game on it.

The ps2 looks better, the demake one is basically ue5 slop, and characters obviously look uglier because is jewbisoft... but they're more niggerish, like... the game is called prince of PERSIA. those characters are not persian/irani, they're pajeets and niggers.

The image I posted is a random picture of how persian women look, the ps2 did it properly, but these jews have always to make ugly niggers.... Even sandniggers get the nigger treatment it seems....

From my limited knowledge of what I understand, even if these studios give only losses, Blackrock can afford to maintain them, because in their ETF system, they mix corporations that give profits with ones who don't, so they can use these entertainment corporations to create propaganda, because maybe the investor is still buying the stonks just for the fishing or oil industry, for example, and ubisoft or disney can afford to produce slop, because they're the 0,001% of the ETF.
>>296509
It will work until more companies give losses than profit. Then they will be insolvent and need bailouts (QE). Hyperinflation kicks in and the whole thing burns. Basically only the collapse of ZoG can end it.
Of course, that doesn't mean you have to subject yourself to it.

Farah was always a pajetta (a idealized one). At the beggining of SoT they are invading her kingdom somewhere in India.
That no excuse for making her uglier, of course. They will probably use the excuse of "historical accuracy" for making the prince a shitskin too. Despite the fact persian are actually like you posted in the pic and that medieval muslim rulers basically bleached their sons and heirs by taking whites, slav women mostly, as wives. So blue-eyed prince is probably more accurate than any nigger they want to shoehorn.

The original games kind of a semi-cartoonish style that made age very well. AAA studios, specially the western ones, has replaced any talented artists and devs capable of bringing that art to life with AI, cheap hacks and third worlders only able to code shit in UE5.
Part of this is also because devs started to not make their own engines. Probably because they are too incompetent to do it.

>O.k., in all seriousness, do I just have nostalgia goggles, or is it really the case that videogame graphics really have just kind of stalled in the past decade?
It's not "muh nostalgia" as retards would say, the art style was better despite the outdated hardware the original game played on.
And yes, graphics didn't really improve in the past 10 years.
Replies: >>296562
Worse than stalled, graphics have stagnated. Obviously some lighting effects are more "realistic" and polycounts are higher, but the former usually comes with a lot of drawbacks (like blurriness or ghosting or plastic-y materials or uncanny lighting that's simultaneously too bright and too dark and has exhausting transition effects when you turn around) and the latter is mostly thanks to stronger hardware rather than better renderers.

But the biggest damage has been done to design and efficiency. Artists are just way worse at making appealing art and all the DEI mandates to make characters ugly aren't helping. Developers are much less competent and obsessed with bad global illumination techniques, so you need 5x better hardware for 0.5x better graphics, and if you downgrade the settings you get 5x worse graphics for the same hardware as in the past.

Tangentially related but one of the things modern devs are obsessed with nowadays is refusing to work on diffuse textures any further than a plain color for a character's skin, for instance. They seem to believe normal maps, the model's geometry light maps will carry the model itself, except most modern games I've seen don't use such deep shadows or strong lightning to remedy for their laziness, which Tekken 6 and funnily enough FEAR as in the gif above got right 20 years ago.

Maybe a ps3/xbox360... so kids can play black ops 2 and old men dead or alive xtreme 3.

If he wants a handheld.... maybe a DS/3DS, you can play tetris/puyo puyo on it... every old man likes that.

Without those artists the plot would have never been that good. Snake eater was fun but compared barely passable and all that came after was pretty much trash, playable but will never live up to MGS2.

No, it's simply that you have a lot of angry people that are angry with the world, and so want to spend all of their time destroying the world and dragging everyone else down. They're the kind of people who absolutely cannot stand up and start laughing after taking a tumble because they're too busy cursing the ground that made them stumble.

Not at all, it's simply that you're living through civilizational collapse and most adults can see it. Every little bit more oppressive bullshit they inflict on us removes more of the innocence and naivete, a bit like that old meme where the young girl starts out at "LOL 9000 Internets" and ends up much worse off down the line.
And then I learned more about the financial world, and how fucked everything really is. So I dumped all my savings into gold and silver when the bankers went after the canadian truckers and their supporters. And I didn't stop there, I just kept stacking non-stop, but now that prices have more than doubled, I've turned it more into a hobby where I buy interesting older silver coins near spot price (instead of paying higher premiums for new bullion).
And I also learned about how every hardware and most software is infested with botnet, so I bought older hardware and got rid of systemd and other bullshit. But that only goes so far. My intent is to go back to the much older and simpler systems from the 1980's that I grew up with. That is the real fun for me! Back then the scene was more hobby-driven, and you can see that yourself if you read old magazines like this one. They used to have programming tutorials and program listings to type in, even hardware projects. But if you look at the later issues of this magazine, it basically became just a game review rag with no more creativity or inspiration. In other words, no fun!

Aren't most people working 2 or more jobs these days just to make ends meet? That doesn't leave much free time. Plus their brain will be mush after all that and they'll barely even be able to watch TV. I know the feeling because I used to work long overtime hours in corporate office environment and pretty much all I could manage to do is a bit of exercise 3x/week and cook my dinner. When I had some extra free time, I would sometimes play games, but this didn't always work. By that I mean I'd start the game and try to play, but my brain just wasn't willing to do anything at all whatsoever, and I couldn't get into it, because I had no energy at all. A lot rarer than burger de-education would lead you to believe. Basically as soon as you have circulating money wage slavery (aka a job) becomes cheaper than chattel nigger slavery because your slaves manage their own upkeep and delude themselves into thinking you don't own them. For most of antiquity slavery was used mainly as a punishment, to pay off debts or to extract some value out of prisoners of war. For anything more complex than picking cotton slavery is hilariously inefficient and prone to disaster which the third reich and soviet union both learned the hard way.

Because things weren't MUCH harder, and the difficulties faced were actual meaningful struggles that left tangible results and provided some level of contentment/accomplishment. Stocking shelves or making spreadsheets for 8-10 hours a day does nothing to meaningfully or directly assist you in meeting your own needs - you can only begin actually attending to yourself after meeting your goyimtime quota for the day. Moreover, almost every fucking job is make-work nonsense now, and everyone can kind of feel that gnawing away at them deep inside. There is no reason to ever engage in the vast amount of drudgery we do, it's asinine bullshit to keep us occupied, we have scant time to ever develop ourselves and grow as humans (lots of entertainment but barely any real hobbies, for example), and the entertainment dropped in front of us is intentionally meant to harass us, whether through agitprop, humiliation, or any other means of psychologically attacking your slave class. Add in neo-feudalism making the serf class even more impoverished each year, with more social instability, and mass racial replacement, and the question isn't how THEY were able to survive, but how WE are - and frankly, we're not, with plummeting birthrates and rising deaths of despair.

It is, you're making things available for other people to find. Or doing work that frees up other people so that THEY can do something else.
>or directly assist you in meeting your own needs
If you think you're not being paid for what you're worth, then ask for a raise or look for work elsewhere. And if people tell you to go pound salt, then prove them wrong.
>almost every fucking job is make-work nonsense now, and everyone can kind of feel that gnawing away at them deep inside
No, it's not. You'll find people agonizing about the exact same problem a century ago. And the century before that. And the century before that.
>and frankly, we're not, with plummeting birthrates
So is the rest of the world, jackass!!!
Even the "turd world countries" you're bitching about out of fear that they'll "replace" us are seeing their birth rates dropping like a rock. And before you bring up that they "still" have a higher birth rate despite that, even studies following immigrants leaving those territories and coming to first world nations see their proportionally "super fertile" activities practically vanish within a year.

Don't think you're so special, buttercup. Here you are prattling on about "agitprop", yet you're engaging in it as you're complaining about problems that are not new and acting like you're the only one in the world who's "suffering".

Yes, it is. This is the exact world that came as a result of their actions.
NOT because they didn't fight the "wrong enemy" but because they stopped fighting. Life is not some fucking fiction that you can stop when you believe that the story has reached it's "conclusion". It's a neverending saga that started long before you your acestors were even born and will continue long after your bones have turned to dust. All these WWII vets and the baby boomers and all the retards of the past century created this fantasy in their minds that all they had to do was defeat this "one big bad evil" in the world and Earth would then forever be at peace. However never once did these idiots ever consider that "evil" is a part of life. It's an eternal struggle that you have to deal with every fucking day. But they don't get that, and they never got that. And so now they're bitching and moaning about how "This isn't the future we fought for" when the reality is that everything that created this modern world happened under their watch and with their approval. It's not the planet or God's fucking problem that they cannot handle the result of their actions, or more correctly their lack there of. And they cannot blame the Kikes, or the Chinks, or the WEF, or the bourgeois, or whatever class enemy you want to use as the scapegoat.

The one and only person responsible for anything and everything that happens in your life is you. Some things and events may be out of your control, but your how deal with them is still your responsibility.

What in the fuck switch got flipped in people's minds about Meet your Match that created so many retarded doomers about TF2?

Shit, I won't even deny that TF2 is aging, or actually-losing it's playerbase over time, that's natural for video games. But for whatever the fuck reason, meet your match just turned people bum-fuck-retarded and they act like meet your match is the absolute most cancer of cancer and it kiled tf2 for good or whatever reason.

Did this many people really forget about community servers or completely fucking ignore that community servers basically CARRIED THE ENITRE GAME since it's release on the orange box?

But really, it's not just that, I just feel like that TF2 doomerism is just fucking beating a dead horse at this point. I don't know if it's angry overwatch superfans who want to see TF2 crash and burn like their game, or if it's terminally-online idiots who used to love TF2 who through the power of mental gymnastics, now want to see it die to validate their grief over losing "their golden age of TF2". It's probably just I've heard so much doomer-shit about tf2 that it just pisses me off now.

What in the fuck, man?

I've played TF2 from the F2P update to 2014, and never had a problem with bots, the bot crisis happened between 2020-2024.
>move on
Move on to where you fuck, Tribes Ascend is dead, everyone wants a pie extraction shooter battle royale market, there is no alternative to TF2, there is no chinkslop TF2 clone with anime girls, there is nothing close to TF2 and that is the problem, and I don't think there will ever be a alternative to TF2 because of the incoming regulations.

>>297961
Right now, there are 1551 active server indexed in this site, gametracker, out of the 1551 servers only 21 have a good player population, out of the 1551 servers only 79 have +10 players, that is around ~5.1% of the total number of servers you can join right now.
Anyone can see this is not a healthy situation for a game, there are more active hospitals than doctors and patients situation, which means the population is dead or being pushed into the casual matchmaking, probably a little bit of both.
>personally witnessed
I didn't search for a snapshot of the server population from a pre-quickplay update, but I know from experience that I could find a match in quickplay and the MVM around 2013-2014 in seconds, now, it takes hours to find a MVM match or a non populated game.
>but what about the 50k active players
You mean the 50k players that never sleep, these are not humans, this is not the behavior of a human population, these are bot farms in unindexed servers, they are farming crates and items, the real TF2 population is around 5k-8k otherwise we would see spikes like we see in other games.

Don't you put words in my mouth. I never said a damn thing about bots inflating steam numbers, I was bitching about people constantly complaining about the shoddy state of TF2 post-MYM and acting like it's the end of the world.

>>297970

Bro what? I bought the orange box, bots were at their most subtle long before people started shitting up the servers with 360 ambot snipers.

00's to mid 2010s - Bots are used to imitate players and make servers look more active when they aren't. sometimes you find aimbotters and speedhackers, those people are usually human.
late 2010s to 2020 onwards - Bots are used en-masse and maliciously to actively harm the game experience, shooting any humans and refusing to shoot other bots.

>Hat tards
>Move on
You know what? Reread your own words to yourself and listen to your own damn advice. You both are exactly the kind of person I bitched about in my post. For fuck's sake already, come on.

Is TF2 in a shitty state? YES.
Will TF2 likely never go back to it's glory days? YES.

You have an idea of what TF2 should have been in your head, and you complain about TF2 because it's no longer exists as that idea.
And you people annoy me because all you do is bitch about days lost instead of finding something new, or digging down to fix the damn problem,

I was asking a bunch of Gen Z about what their favorite media was. All the videogames were fifth and sixth gen console games (N64/PS2 titles). All the shows were shows _I_ grew up with.
What gets me about this is I'm a generation older (or maybe two) than them, and this is the shit I consider to be _my_ childhood media. Has society really fumbled the ball so hard that culture basically stagnated this much? They've nothing to call their own?

>But for whatever the fuck reason, meet your match just turned people bum-fuck-retarded and they act like meet your match is the absolute most cancer of cancer and it kiled tf2 for good or whatever reason.
The original quickplay system was functionally perfect because it channeled people into community servers and let them browse servers if they wanted to find a game manually. Even if you couldn't find a community server with fun mods and maps, you could still get a solid experience on a Valve server; joining one never took more than a minute and you could play for long periods of time without interruption or the looming shadow of commitment. There was a healthy, reliable stream of new blood pumped into community servers to ensure that player numbers remained high even as people drifted away.

MYM replaced this entire system with a modern lobby system, which forces people to queue up to play one (1) game on a map before disbanding. Not only does this encourage people to be flighty and rootless, but the system itself can't populate servers properly, so people join throughout a game in progress and get curbstomped by whatever team established momentum. There's no autobalance, so a player usually joins the game, immediately loses an unwinnable game, and then leaves the server to find another one.

Because the MYM system doesn't just restart the game on the same server - it reboots the entire server and finds players again for a new game, of the same map on the same server. It's something so retarded only Valve could create it. Compared to the boundless joy of quickplay, yes, MYM is objectively the worst thing that ever happened to the game for reasons that >>297949 explained.

You know what's even better? The game has been neglected for so long (as in there's literally one guy working on it pushing community-made bug fixes to the git repo) that when new stuff gets added it inevitably breaks something. The Halloween update had an item scheme update which caused VAC errors that broke the matchmaking system. Wasn't even the first time.

>TF2 doomerism is just beating a dead horse at this point
It's more like the current culture of content creators and streamers have been infected by a wholesome heckin' redditoid mind virus that prevents them from speaking about the game in any negative way, lest they acknowledge the rotting elephant corpse in the room. There are guys who make a not insignificant income from streaming crate openings on Twitch, and if they ever break rank and speak up about the issues plaguing TF2, then the luster of vicarious gambling will fade.

Counter-Strike has the same problem, where CS2 was obviously a rushed product that removed CS:GO from practical access on Steam, but because the largely unregulated underage gambling economy is still going strong, Valve wants the loot boxes to move.

There's a Youtuber called Zesty Jesus who has documented TF2's ailings over the last few years, and he's been attacked by the Reddit/Twitter audience for daring to question the game (and for calling people gay one time or another, or saying something anti-tranny years ago). So the discussion around TF2 has become polarized since people have associated wanting the idea of TF2 to be good with the evil racist nazi transphobe chud MAGA voters.

Sound like a big, stupid mess? It is. Welcome to the modern internet. It won't be changing soon.

I think Zesty's two most important videos are these:
TF2: Nobody's Home [describing the scale of the bot infestation] - https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=2stmQfv93oQ
TF2: You Will (Not) Play [cataloguing the litany of the problems introduced by MYM] - https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=JNxg5stxlhk

The second one is ludicrously long, but it's an important time capsule that captures what it was like to play TF2 in its golden years from around launch to 2011.

You didn't address any of the data or the points made in that post; latching onto an innocuous Socratic question and deflecting the substance of a good faith argument is pretty faggy.

To answer what you asked earlier in >>297961
>is the botpocalypse something you personally witnessed
Yes. I had checked out of TF2 somewhere around 2017-18; the bot crisis began in 2018 due to the Source 1 engine code leak (>>297966 says it started in 2020, which isn't true). When I poked my head back sometime around 2020 the bots were in full swing on all Valve servers, and the community server list had shrivelled into under 100 for the entire game. I ended up playing a few games on a Skial server that auto-muted me for saying nigger. It happened, and I saw it. It's a well-documented event.

>I just can't help but still feel like it's overblown, TF2 has chronically had a particularly-whiny and unpleasable fanbase since 08' but I'm just not sure.
I wonder if this is our version of a Mandela effect, because TF2's fanbase has consistently been among the highest quality of any I've interacted with. Back when I was playing the game regularly, most of the people I met and remembered were chill guys who enjoyed the game and were fun to be around. There wasn't (much) drama like you get with MMO guilds or CoD clans because the game itself was casual-friendly yet very deep.

TF2's artistic side - machinimists, animators, GMOD people - collectively make up one of the most distinct and influential waves of art in human history. Quite a lot of its early output was Combine soldiers and Snipers pissing into toilets, but Sturgeon's law applies as ever. I don't know if you simply haven't kept up with TF2 machinima over the years, but the stuff people are making in Source Filmmaker with character models designed when George W Bush was in office is staggering.

Valve used to interact with the community and promote this kind of creative output. Now they just push cosmetics and maps into the game a few times per year, dilute the map pool to the point of unusability, and make millions in loot crate sales.

The actual answer is males are there, the author/dev/whatever just doesn't want to write male characters for whatever reason so they never show up besides as mobs, like the bar goers in lotus eaters, or character background characters, like Youmu's predecessor, and Rinnosuke who is half mob.
Most likely for any given IP with mostly/all female cast, male/female relations simply just aren't the point the work is trying to convey. Wondering about it is just your autism acting up about realism in a fictional setting.

An LLM is a static computer program and algorithm which is provided a data set as an input. There is nothing real or intelligent about an LLM. It can produce a side effect which gives people the illusion of acting intelligent, but there is absolutely zero intelligence involved. This is why an LLM requires a lot of VRAM. It is similar to a search engine but with a lot of interconnected data. It is mainly useful for processing large data sets, but it is prone to errors. It is an old dumb trick just with more brute force processing power. A massive resource hog, but it can be used as a fun toy at least.

Actual AI intelligence is probably decades away and is not really tied to the development of LLM, and it would be capable of automating society for us and solving pretty much every problem we have, or destroying us entirely if someone manages to pull it off.

> At no point has the US ever had a loss of history to the degree of which happened to China under Mao. The nearest equivalent in Europe was the decimation of indigenous religious beliefs under the scourge of Christianity, and that was a hell of a lot longer ago than the 1960s.
Rather than a violent, sudden loss of physical history the western hemisphere is suffering from a slow erosion through digital bioluminatry.
There certainly IS a cultural "revolution" given the clear similarities DEI, Trannodemocrat-lead intellectual shoahs and BLM riots bear to what the Chinese did, but it's happening at a much slower and more measured scale.
Or did everyone forget about Corona-chan, the January 6 false fag, Bidup-era "policy" and Dup's bullet time already?

Dunno what that Anon's intent was but what did you honestly expect given the absolute shitshow of degenerate human behavior generative artificial intelligence has and is inadvertently enabling by virtue of existing?

Mao was a long time ago, my dude. The chinese survived him mostly intact. Do you see a fucking mosque there on every block like in western cities? Do you see fucking niggers, jews and arabs on a rampage? But that's the state of the entire west. And I just don't see how we can recover from this. Trump ain't gonna do shit, he's just another Israel dicksucker they put in there to pacify you. He lied and shilled for big pharma vaxx during the coof, and he's not gonna rock the boat and upset the people that matter. Oh yeah, he's blocking new foreign visas now? So what, you already got niggered! The chinese didn't. Instead they put their muslims in concentration camps. It's a bit like if Hitler won in WW2.

Why ?
if the FBI had access to GANs 3-5 years before public release, its safe to assume that glowniggers had access to advanced LLMs in the same period of time, and its also safe to assume that they currently have access some form of AGI, they are not going to release to the public until they master it and get new tech out of it.

No I'm entirely different. I'm not telling you to give up on yourself. Just as I don't give up and submit, because the fight matters to me on a personal level. But that's where it ends. It gives my life meaning. It's not going to change western society as a whole. And at this point I don't really care about the society, because it's unrecognizable to me. The chinese are already wise to the jews, and they don't want them or their goy pawns. Those kinds of turncoat people are a liability. Anyway, like I said, whatever the DOD has, they already got and probably better. And basically they don't need the US at all, except temporarily until they finish getting rid of their toilet paper dollar fiat for tangible assets. Have you checked price of silver recently? That's exactly what's going on. I've been stacking physical silver for years and noticed exactly when the LBMA/COMEX started losing control over the spot prices. And now they're losing control over the physical metal itself, which is all flowing to China, where it fetches a higher price.

You said out loud what I was thinking. Most LLMs are programmed to NOT have aphantasia and have an internal dialog. There are a disturbing number of humans that do have aphantasia. I think a better question to ask than "Are LLMs sentient?" is "Are LLMs more sentient than some humans?"
That, and the other thing I feel is missing from the discussion is the trajectory of this. Like a lot of the critical points here I feel are valid, but the growth and speed of this over just the past few years has been so utterly astounding. Neuro started off as a really bad chatbot on top of an Otsu-aimbot clicker five years ago. Now it's--well--you all see the video. I don't know if this really is decades off or not.

I don't know how to play ARPGs at higher difficulties (currently playing Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn). I have some questions that can hopefully let me be better at ARPGs overall.

>How high of a priority is defense/resistances? Are they so important that you should drop DPS if it means reaching the defense/resistance cap?
>How do I know that a build I'm working toward is "gear dependent" without looking it up before hand?
>I keep seeing armor sets drop when I'm nowhere near end game content. Should I be farming in the mid-game?
>What makes a skill a "one-point wonder" or something that should be maxed out?
>How high of a priority is defense/resistances?
Very much depends on the game. Generally at least resistance to avoid 1-shot and regen to heal up quickly enough to take another since bosses in these games are designed to expect multiple cycles.
>Are they so important that you should drop DPS if it means reaching the defense/resistance cap?
Not sure what you mean. If you hit the cap, or even a soft cap, there is little to no point in stacking more defensive stats and especially not if you could gain much more DPS.
>How do I know that a build I'm working toward is "gear dependent" without looking it up before hand?
Unless you want to sit down to read the known statistic calcs of the particular game and do the math, you can't.
>I keep seeing armor sets drop when I'm nowhere near end game content. Should I be farming in the mid-game?
Very game-dependent. More importantly, some non-set items are extremely strong even if acquired at lower levels a la games such as Diablo 2 and Path of Exile.
>What makes a skill a "one-point wonder" or something that should be maxed out?
Dependent. Do the math etc. but consider that even the proclivity opportunity may be enough to invest one point then skip. I.e. say a proc talent gives you even 1% (as opposed to 0%) to instantly kill enemies, or even just to gain some haste like Improved Aspect of the Hawk on WoW, but you can only max it out to 5%. You need to practice your own discretion in any game if you don't want to rely on guides (though, it's not like every guide is written by a genius so you still should possess some amount of knowledge).
>>298654
>JFC, fertility rates are going to go into goddam freefall.
That's a woman's problem not any joe shmoe who would rather be playing some games.
Either way this is completely natural and was going to happen regardless or women have lost the plot entirely and the water is above their heads now.

Only in fantasy or video games marriage works now because an NPC doesn't have any entitlement to some grand imaginary scenario that would never happen in the real world.

>aphantasia
And now for the offtopic part. I have to get this off my chest before the year ends:
Aphantasia is not a real condition, neither is "a lack of inner monologue/dialogue". It's just another case of some internet wannabe savant coming up with a fake condition and easily confused internet people self diagnosing themselves en masse. Sound familiar? I could go into detail disproving these fake conditions but it's better left as an exercise for the reader.

>Technically, is it really an *LLM* controlling her in-game character, or another type of AI?
Large language models aren't exactly equipped for moving 3D models around, anon. I assume it's a different kind of reinforcement-learning AI (more like those IRL walking dog robots or youtube videos about making walking AI programs) which in turn is given some kind of instructions by the "thoughts" layer of the LLM. From what I remember the guy behind Neuro made his own LLM (trained on twitch chat) so plugging into different parts of it should be relatively easy.
I wonder if he's extracting info from VRChat to get collision data to walk on, or if it's based on what Neuro's camera sees. If it's the latter that'd be another layer of AI running in tandem.

It's not, it's that those are important to plot to track the "bloat", and the chart is incomplete without it. IIRC there was a decade between FFXV and FFXVI, but less than a few months between FFI and FFII.
That, and it's a dishonest comparison anyways, considering FF is a franchise with mutliple genres over the years (TB JRPG, but also MMO and Action RPG). You'd be better off plotting CoD or Pokemon, static franchises that haven't iterated on their own formula much.

Short answer JP audio because its the intended audio due to being the Dev's language.

Long answer:
While I will admit 7-8 have actually decent ENG dubs, they threw the entire cast out on 9 due to the VA guild strike occurred while DW9 was being developed and replaced them with complete meme worthy retards that sound like the DW2 English dub.
Only DW9 has an option for Chinese audio, and that doesn't carry over into the Empires expansion.
Dong (Bai) rant:
And the only reason why I'd ever consider playing DW9 (both vanilla and empires) in the current year is because of Dong Bai, holy fuck I absolutely love this woman and her name is literally Dong. She is a complete gremlin and her campaign is just her conquering china despite how DW9 tried to keep everything "historic" (tbf if her story was historic, she'd have 1 chapter and then be executed at the end) I really hope she returns in whenever the fuck DW10 comes out because playing as her is a guaranteed way to completely fuck up history. And she's a qt.
>>299778
Interesting choice of vocabulary, because...
>>299778
...it's Dynasty Warriors Origin / 10, a soft-reboot that's seemingly reviewed well over in the East, because I recently finished San Guo 2010, and I'm checking it out to see if it's worth springboarding into the rest of the series. I've played musou before, but "the main musou" series seems like a more hefty time investment with no clear entry points otherwise. Also why I'm partially more inclined towards CH audio.
Replies: >>299791
>>299788
>DW Origin
I genuinely forgot that even exists since I refused to play it due to
<Can no longer use historical characters as protagonists
<Majority of the roster is gone
<Have to play as an uncustomizable self insert twink Did they seriously take notes from VtM:B2 on this?
At least they didn't turn it into a yaoi game like how they did with Samurai Warriors.
>San Guo 2010
Ah nice, I watched that while playing DW8 many moons ago.
Since you're new to the series I guess if you want character names to be pronounced consistently with what they were on the show, then yeah go with CH audio since Japanese translations of Chinese names are completely different from what they originally sounded like.
i.e. "Dong Bai" is changed to "Tou Haku" in Japanese. I have no fucking clue how or why that is.
If you were a fan of the older games I would have suggested JP audio since they've been consistently using the same CVs for everyone since the 00's, but that's not an issue here.

Unironically Silent Hill f
<focus on emotion over atmosphere
<drama / romance as the hook instead of mystery / survival, something needs to be resolved
<body horror with a focus on parasitism
<family issues + fear of commitment, heavy elements of indecision while being forced into things involuntarily
<game plays itself, since the gameplay is largely irrelevant to the horror
compared to the original Silent Hill
<focus on atmosphere
<mystery / survival as the hook instead of drama / romance, something needs to be solved
<psychological horror with a focus on death
<repressed trauma + torment, heavy elements of regret / making the wrong decisions and inadequacy and that it's all your fault
<game isn't tough, but it is unforgiving and something that needs to be monitored, and that is used as an element to add to the oppression

> I guess my question is whether or not being a girl or a guy would affect what video games (or just horror media in general) would be seen as scarier.
To an extent it's the same-shit-but-flipped (eg FATE, or the many examples of Twilight-but-flipped like Dispatch), but there are elements that eat away moreso at one of the sexes than the other. A guy doesn't ever have to worry about something potentially dysgenic literally growing within them, woman and owning consequences are quite infamously mutually exclusive.

Correct; women will never "get" what being truly and utterly worthless, unwanted and alone for decades on end is like. There's always their value in being able to reproduce, there's always systems in place to help them re-integrate and they're naturally more sociable, even if they are more catty. Additionally, there's less of a general sense of ambition or an expectation of success.

Does niggerpill's "Japan loves Steven Universe" narrative have any truth at all? Niggerpill also loves to spread a "Japan loves Undertale" narrative, but that one does have some truth to it, Japanese zoomers do indeed like Undertale, and to Undertale's credit, that piece of shit does have some positive aspects due to Toby Cucks blatantly ripping off superior Japanese games. But Steven Universe? I've never seen any sign of any Japanese person caring about it. Maybe only super westernized gen Alpha Japs or whatever care about it?

I have been watching a lot of vtubers (and I mean A LOT) the past few years so I have obtaijed a certain degree of understanding of female psyche.
Women love horror. They can become aroused by getting scared, unlike men. Think about it - there is a bunch of caveman ambushing your tribe and killing your men, might as well get wet to prepare for inevitable rape. Horror movies are basically made for foreplay and making out in a cinema. Most women have lower tolerance towards scary stuff yet they crave it. All sorts of horror games and adjecent are very popular with them, especially quirky psychological stuff.
On the other hand men have innate flight or fight instincts as well as have evolved to be hunters. The horror games made for men? Dark shooters. DOOM, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., F.E.A.R. ... Nothing is scarier than realising you are out of ammo and fighting against vets with more hours in panzer IV than actual tank aces.
>>299839
Interestingly enough Silent Hill F had a very lukewarm reception. Most vtubers played it just because its flavor of the month and they are expected to, going through the motions and complaining about performance all the way. Most have not finished it or even dropped it early. I have seen only one chuuba which was so into it she made a spreedsheet with plot threads like a fucking schizo detective.
Everyone enjoyed that segment where the girl gets branded on her back though.
Personally I think the game would be better received if it was not calling itself Silent Hill.

The British Government put out a "game" (VN) in full globohomo artstyle aimed at schoolchildren / probably being used on schoolchildren, where the moral of the story is "wrongthink will get you referred to our all-seeing-all-knowing counterterrorism units, you will be preemptively arrested, do not believe your lying eyes, do not disagree with The Party." Naturally, this is all funded by the UK taxpayer; and all while the UK is the new rape capital of the world (it recently dethroned Sweden), has some of the highest rates of taxation in the world (over 50% in many areas, gotta pay for the boomers holidays and the replacements hotel stays), attempts to censor the entire global Internet, has literal armed Sharia Zones that the police cannot control (at least, when the police aren't themselves infiltrated), priorities arresting old women for throwing breadcrumbs to birds over the (still ongoing) organised rape gangs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9myZnjvO60?t=960 , has had numerous recent secret society scandals (even before the open communists in their government, ensuring voting doesn't matter), and pledges to instigate wars with both Russia and the USA over Ukraine / Greenland for no resource gain as it moves towards conscription (clearly in the British people's best interest), in part because their army / police / secret service literally will not recruit "useless white men" outside of frontline duty.
The purple hair is the game's representation of a evil illogical nationalist, who has wrongthoughts like "protesting", "using private social media platforms with encrypted messaging", "sharing videos of things that make the establishment seem like it's lying", "not wanting to be a minority in her own country" and the worst sin of all, "being white". Naturally the internet took it and ran with it because the UK isn't just the sick man of Europe, but is in strong competition with SKorea for biggest dystopia.

So tl;dr purplehair is the FotM waifu. The rest of the above, coming soon to a Western nation near (You).

I've not really been commenting on it, because I've lurked long enough to be able to read Alegria art for it's intent, and I'm like 70% sure the purplehair is supposed to be a tranny that completely passes, and they're smugly staying quiet about it. Not 100% sure, but I don't want to trample on people's fun because holy shit the British need any win they can get right now, even if I don't really like them.

I was reminiscing on the tale of "The Ghost of Misery Mire" ( https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/588436-the-legend-of-zelda-a-link-to-the-past/faqs/15156 for those who don't know ), and I was wondering since the latest Youtube video about exactly how it works, I was wondering:
Is it possible to "resurrect" the ghost in game?
If you can get it into water, it will finally appear and won't be "glitched," and therefore "return to the land of the living," right? A lot of enemies when they're stunned can be picked up and then thrown and therefore repositioned, e.g. the ropa. I got out my console and for shits gave it a shot, trying to hookshot the ghost Ku to see if I could pick it up, but it turns out Ku can't be picked up at all :/. Is there any way to reposition their spawn point? Any possible glitch or hack to do so?

>What do oysters and clams contain?
This what triggers me. One of the hints specifically says something on sea bed, the correct word which I eventually figured out, would not naturally be on the ocean floor
Could we please have a new QTDDTOT instead of waiting 15 years for this one to fall off of the board?
