John 3:16 KJV: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

hello so i wanted to ask here that rn im trying to limit playing myself and viewing nsfw stuff which for the first one is under three times a 3 under strict time slots in 7 am,2 pm and 8 pm as well limit my viewing of anything nsfw in discord both a private server i use personally and servers allow nsfw workss for 28 minutes with the latter i thought up with the ai biblecross/crosstalk and wanted to ask here if these strategies are decent or need a few changes as i kinda do this to try to get closer to God
>i kinda do this to try to get closer to God
>jacking off 3 times a day
I suppose that if you were a hypergooner doing it 10 times a day you could call it improvement. From your short text, it seems to me that your main problem is being in places plagued with porn. You can't have a clean soul if you drag it through the shitter every day.

Stop using discord.
Then just do whatever activity maintain your brain busy.
Simply avoid being in a place full of hot anime girl jpegs.
And drink water because it's healthy.

I've had similar struggles. The best advice I can give you is to read The Bible. Start at Genesis 1:1 and just keep going until you reach the end of Revelation. It doesn't matter how much you read per day, and if of you need a reading plan there are many available (and some Bibles come with them) but it will be the most effective way of curing your habit. That and praying to the LORD genuinely to keep you from being delivered into temptation.

I've tried many things, and they either fail or lead to other bad habits. Reading the word of God will bring you closer to God and the LORD will cleanse you and set your foot to a sure path. Think of reading the Bible as like eating food, but instead of feeding your body you feed your soul. A little every day will transform your life.

I recommend the King James Version as it appears to be the most accurate and true word of God. (Pic related)

But that picture only shows protestant bibles, you shouldn't read the bible of a heretic variant when you can just read the original thing. I suggest the Bible of Jerusalem or the Bible of Navarre. KJV.... is fine.... but is still heresy, so you can't enter the cool kids™ club. The Navarre Bible is probably the best version of the Bible ever made, but is so long that is separated on several volumes, you can find all of the books for free in Anna's Archive, in both epub and pdf. Is good to understand the theology so you don't fall in the sola scriptura heresy.

>when you can just read the original thing. I suggest the Bible of Jerusalem or the Bible of Navarre.
The Jerusalem Bible was first published in 1966, and the Bible of Navarre was completed in 2004. And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't both translated into English from French and Spanish, respectively? When you said "the original thing", I thought you were going to say learn Greek and Hebrew. [Greek/Hebrew > French/Spanish > English] is even farther from the original than than the KJV.

"The Navarre Bible includes extensive Catholic commentary compiled by the faculty of the University of Navarre"
If I'm reading the word of God, I don't need or want the word of man intermingled with it.

This one is difficult because, on your own with nothing to mitigate the effects of temptation, lust will repeatedly strike you down again and again. It takes immense(not impossible, many have managed it before) strength to resist the constant lure of these sorts of things.
The main things you need to know are as follows:
1. When you view these things there is no gain, only the illusion of gain, shatter that illusion and you'll realize you can only get better from not viewing these things.
2. If you don't have a set, present-focused goal in life (something to do soon, not in the distance) then you will likely end up back right (left) next to where you started.
The application of all of these things will take some time. Do not fret, you are building help along the way, and remember you can always turn to Jesus to ask for more help if you need it.
You need to stop watching porn entirely.

Proverbs 3:5, 3:6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Perhaps you ought to try a neutral approach, and give a simple acknowledgement to God's presence in even your sexuality. Then wait to see what happens, and go from there.

Jude 1:22, 1:23
"And of some have compassion, making a difference:
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."
I know that I have not been made to respond to correction by shame and fear. Only a gentle coaxing like the kind coming from acknowleding God "In all thy ways..." has done anything to reduce my laciviousness. Maybe the same can happen for you.

A book that helped me a few years ago is https://easypeasymethod.org
I will note that I do slip sometimes, but at most a few times in a year and some years not at all. So it is a great improvement.
You should also avoid seeking out places with lewd content, which admittedly can be hard depending on your interests. Having hobbies which don't involve such content is useful to avoid it.

Lastly: relying on pure willpower is a meme. This doesn't apply to just porn but everything designed to manipulate your mind. Much of this happens subconsciously. It is the reason I have a vehement disgust of the advertising industry and avoid advertisements as much as possible.

The bible is a book. You need to read the fucking commentary to understand it. This is like grabbing a advanced nuclear physics book and trying to read it, if you don't know shit about nuclear physics you won't understand it. Yet protestant niggers think they will enlightened by the wisdom of God or some schizophrenic delusion. This is not about the translation, which the Bible of Navarre includes the latin text for reference, but about the censorship, catholic bibles are the "original" because protestant bibles are censored and include less books and several minor changes than a catholic bible.

That's also what the Jehovah's Witnesses say. Make sure you stay subscribed to Watchtower and Awake! magazines so you can understand God's word properly, which would be impossible without the Governing Body's direction.

Now that I've got my sarcasm out of the way, I'm not against commentaries. But you should wrestle with the primary text first. Allow God's word to speak for itself. Get a grasp of it. Read the whole Bible a few times. Then when you have questions you can't resolve, read some commentaries. If you start with the commentaries, you have no protection against being led astray by whatever bias the commentary author has. You know the Bible is God's word. You don't know that about commentaries.

The Protestant Bible is unquestionably missing content, but so are all Christian Bibles. There's books which would unquestionably be included if they weren't lost (likely permanently) such as the Book of Jasher or The Book of the Wars of the Lord for the Old Testament, while correspondences in the New Testament are also missing. We haven't even touched Old and New Testament Apocrypha, which has every right to be in there. There are books in the (especially Protestant) Bible with less credibility for being in there compared to the ones removed.

<but they're heresy / apocryphal
Then why are they referenced in every Bible? One small example is Jude 1:14-15 which refers to the Book of Enoch.

I do think there's value in reading it as is without commentary, followed by reading it with commentary / a good study version. This is what I did, precisely because of what this anon said:
> But you should wrestle with the primary text first. Allow God's word to speak for itself. Get a grasp of it. Read the whole Bible a few times. Then when you have questions you can't resolve, read some commentaries. If you start with the commentaries, you have no protection against being led astray by whatever bias the commentary author has. You know the Bible is God's word. You don't know that about commentaries.

Reading 'blindly' with bad commentaries is how you end up with the Scofield Bible. Reading 'blindly' without good commentaries is how you end up believing in the Scofield Bible.

One great quality of life improvement, especially on ibs, is getting an Image blocker.
For some weird reason, at least in zzzchan and trashchan, if you want to see an specific pic, they still load if you click on them.
