THIS. i see this tiresome shit in discussions about ancient cultures, specifically regarding plumbing. You bring up cultural, economic, military, religious, ideological criticism up and midwits cone flooding in to whinge about how "b-b-but they had RuNnInG waTeR!" The debater wants to say it like their pet culture they just learned about from Total War was the first, but they don't know, so they lean hard into the accomplishment existing at all. As though Minoans, Carthaginians, Egyptians, etc all "owe" each other and nobody else in the whole world ever considered that water was important enough to PUT CLOSER to oneself.
