I was actually reading through the Grave Error book when this was reported. I believe she and the political party she was representing (ONE BC?) claimed that the university was public property, but after looking into it, I think it's actually considered "privately owned public property," which is to say it's more like a mall courtyard, not a street. So, like a mall, the university has private security, and they are allowed to kick people out on their own whim, and normal trespassing law applies if violators don't leave. If they were just on the street there would have been no basis for arrest or charges.
To be clear, I support people exposing the residential school BS, but, sadly, it seems like they are also legally illiterate boomers.
