What is wrong with fish and wtf is their problem?
Replies: >>314247
I fwish I knew the answer to that question
a group of fish is a school
what is a group of niggers?
>>314240
Cattle?
>>314240
A hood
>>314240
future doctors and engineers
>>314240
A troop
>>314234 (OP)
Bovine collagen can contain prion contaminants.
Seriously, OP? Fish live in water, that's the answer. The same medium for "breathing with" and "excreting to". Salty water sometimes, but always especially troublesome for farming fish in any relatively small container. Filtering water in real time is costly. Low density of grown produce is unprofitable. Use your head.
Replies: >>314289
>>314240
A septic tank.
>>314268
And was that supposed to be an eel in OP's pic? I never heard of that alternate spelling.

a shrewdness
>The collective noun for apes is "shrewdness." The Old English word "shrewd," originally meaning "wicked" or "mischievous," is the root of what we now use to describe a group of apes, likely referencing their high level of intelligence and problem-solving abilities.
>likely referencing their high level of intelligence and problem-solving abilities.
>etymology is literally wicked or depraved
lol no, has nothing to do with the word, faggot ass author

That reminds me of some list I saved long ago. Too strange for my ESL sensibilities.
>A murder of crows, a pride of lions, a skulk of foxes, a parliament of owls, a gaggle of geese, a rafter of turkeys, a knot of frogs, an ostentation of peacocks.
>>314490
>murder
crows used to eat the dead fallen soldiers and would simulate their screams so pagans thought they carried the souls to the afterlife
>pride
Lions and cats in general cannot be tamed and want to be catered to.
>foxes
Are sneaky, they sneak around, skulking means basiscally sneaking.
>parliament
Literally means assembly, but also discussion, and owls hoot to one another. They seem to say 'who' so it is like they are talking.
>gaggle
Old Norse gagl means small goose
>rafter
I assume they liked to hop of the roof as roosters do and chickens can't even fly so a turkey would be up there more often than a rooster, but IDK.
>knot
wut?
>ostentation
Means ambitious display. The birds dance with those nice feathers to attract the females so it makes sense.

The frog is just weird. Oh wait, a frog in the throat. A knot in the throat. I think I get it now.

Too poetic for my tastes. Why is a generic group not enough? Looks like something used to torment kids in school and nothing else. I'm too autistic to understand why there is poetry in the first place, so don't mind me.

Medieval purity spiraling regarding language and manners. A literal luxury to indulge in just to demonstrate arbitrary superiority, not for practical reasons as claimed in that link.
What makes that different from the internet jargon of today, lol?

what fucking medieval autist decided that you need specific words for animal groups
btw if you always have to say "a [BLANK] of [ANIMAL]" then it completely defeats the purpose of coming up with that jargon since you are basically always explaining what it means and at that point simply saying "a group of [ANIMAL]" is both less verbose and more understandable, plus it implies that even native speakers aren't fully familiar with all this
so yea, retarded idea and dead on arrival

If you're EFL (particularly some Isles dialect), it works because you don't say the "of..." bit. You only say "a gaggle", "a murder", etc. and quickly convey what you mean.
Replies: >>314515
>>314513
You are still borrowing a distinct word. The more separate meanings, the more opportunities for confusion.
Replies: >>314516
>>314515
I'm not telling you to research individual English dialects if you're only using it as the lingua franca, but surely some analogue must exist for whatever you were born speaking in the region you were born speaking it, with some variance in the surrounding regions. I misspoke by including "a". It could be "an", "the" or many other articles of speech. The terms for specific groupings work by themselves for a various amount of EFLs.
Replies: >>314518
>>314516
why did you say 'dialects' instead of 'a gondola of dialects' or just 'a gondola'
you cant just say the plural of what your talking about, dont you know you have to use the specific grouping name for that group

thats not what fluent means and youre confusing phonetics with vowels, afro asiatic languages use consonant clusters without any vowels, theyre irrelevant since the consonant root is whats important but even if thats your autistic cope then yeah im still fluent because i know the actual pronounciation of a lot of words like per her henah duat etc. since this is how you learn the language if you go to school, the vowels have already been reversed from coptic cognates its just tradition to ignore them when writting transcripts

For what it's worth, you're not really doing anything to prove you know any of those languages. I guess just writing anything in said languages isn't going to prove anything by itself, since the faggot over there is just going to accuse you of using google translate.
>afro asiatic languages use consonant clusters without any vowels
That's not exclusive to Afro-Asiatic languages, is it?

How exactly is Egyptian (if that's even what it can be called) transcribed, assuming that hieroglyphs aren't used? Do you just use the Coptic script?

you just use the latin alphabet or the phonetic alphabet but the vowels are omitted because thats literally how egyptian is written, when you see a vowel its not a vowel its actually a consonant or just a phonetic complement thats only there because the scribe was feeling cute that day, hieroglyphs are normal for academics and most of the time the hieroglyphs are themselves transcribed from hieratic or demotic texts converted to hieroglyphs simply because its easier to read
