Mtg arena is a online casino of sorts, It's not real magic because all of the draws and games are coded and set to play out how the game wants you to play it out, it determines if you are to win or lose before you launch the game and fucks with you hard, the only way to win a game it determined you to lose is if the opponent somehow and very rarely makes a hundred massive fuck ups and even then it is still hard.
Even with all that said, I still wanted to play it and just enjoy it but it's literally not magic due to no RNG and each card being weighted in how it's drawn and it's Values and who you are matched up against for jewzards of the coasts determinations, it's only enjoyable if you can play it like it is braindead and just stimulation and take your forced losses and move forward, I love drafting for example and it is the premium way to play, you can still more or less play the premium currency modes but your wins/losses are coded like a rigged arcade machine.
Eventually I could not stomach it anymore and I stopped playing it, I've got a lot of wildcards and a pretty chunky account even though I've not played since after Final Fantasy set released. Dominated IRL pre-releases and the like and it's just so different with real randomness than MTG arena. (and yes there is ways to game it but it's not fun, you can find out what cards are weighted and build decks around the "meta" of MTG arena with studying, not actual card meta of what is best, but on what the engine and their algorithm will give you better draws etc, this still won't remove the "you are determined to win/lose this game" however.
If you pay money it temporarily increases your "you will win" status it's not needed to play but playing just sucks when it's so rigged, I much more enjoy something like Xmage except Idk if it's active anymore and I remember always some users not upping their default RAM usage and being slow to play/AFK and ruining matches and also only really can play Commander there (I like commander but other reasons made it sometimes a chore but often fun at least years ago now)
Summary: It's rigged to high-hell and is not "magic" but can be a decent time for a bit but you don't really affect outcomes and aren't playing except for the games that MTG arena decides are "anyone wins" which those games are fun other than draws aren't random and if you play enough with the same deck/cards and against same cards/decks you will intuitively know the limited outcomes and what will occur while playing which spoils it for me.
>T. thousands of hours in Arena and >7k hours playing real life magic and older magic games like mtg 2012 (which had dual headed giant and 4 player games and I enjoy more than Arena when I want my fix though card selection and AI sucks)
