Linux programs have less capabilities than Windows programs and need to use less comfortable keyboard hotkeys because the system reserves way more basic hotkeys so the program can't use them.
Linux is for people who want to use an operating system, Windows is for people who want to run programs and do things with programs.

The good thing about Windows software is that you can generally run any old .exe you want, so updates shouldn't affect you as much. Meanwhile on Linux you have to fight the OS to run older versions of programs, so shitty updates are an actual problem (even if they don't introduce ads and spyware per se). I know Linux users who run a lot of open source/cross platform software as .exes on Wine just to not have to use the latest shitty updates.

The counterpoint to this is that not even the niggest GNU/Linuchs distro ever forces (You) to install updates, some distros such as Debian pride themselves on not updating aside from minor bugfixes for muh stability.
It all ties back to Linuchs being open sores with no stable ABI so you have to recompile everytiem there's an update to a dependency somewhere.
There's software that doesn't care which exact libraries you're using as long as they're above a certain minimum version, but it doesn't preclude problems arising from undocumented autism unique to one specific version/build of the library as in dolphin's case which often refuses to finish compiling with SUSE's builds of the fmt lib, or the official Linux ports of UT2k4 which require an old version of libstdc++ no longer carried by most extant distributions.

linux is for the biggest charlatan moron cocksuckers on earth. i mean how do you even take that shit seriously when it takes years to even learn less or info so you can read the manuals. you'd have to be kidding yourself.

in less if you type ctrl+c it just truncates the manual. that's unfortunate because you often want to search for something in the ocean of text that these autists wrote. so you press / <shit to search for> but then change mind or make a typo, then press ctrl+c, then the manual is just truncated randomly; when you scroll down, there will be eventually a cut off. if you don't notice this you'll falsely conclude that you read the whole manual when you didn't and then go misconfigure your system (you still would anyway since it's helplessly complex)

and a linux autist will say you're dumb for not knowing the proper way to cancel search is ctrl+g. okay, 8 months later you're used to ctrl+g as the hidden proper way to cancel things in UNIX systems that should have been put out of their misery literally over 40 years ago. now every time you use vim you try to cancel search and this stupid ^G text appears because the proper way in vim is ctrl+c, woops

So you keep using an older version until you update your system and it unsurprisingly stops working, as the average Linux program has the same shelf life as a half rotten banana. But wait, since it's FOSS you can always just fix the program's spaghetti source yourself, and keep doing that for the rest of your life as it breaks with each system update. Muh freedumb!

You're not wrong, but as Win10 has shown Microsoft's efforts to embrace Linux have shown their effect with every major Wangblows feature update you have no choice to install outside of the corporate LTSC track breaking more and more older software, which on Win7 and prior versions could be partially avoided by not manually refusing to install or uninstalling specific updates, but oy vey das antisemitic and too complicated for the average user so it needs to goy.

On Linux on the other hand as long as you have the sauce, you can technically "update" a program's expiration date by recompiling with static linking for your current system at any time, even if you have to manually edit the build scripts and/or source code.
I still view this as the better option on a per-application basis compared to building an entire wrapper or emulator, especially considering you don't have to go through the tranny autism of manually decompiling everything.
Maybe AI source code edits adjusted for modern development environments will fix it.

That archive is of a Joseph thread and he hasn't posted here in months from what I can tell. He had previously been talking about going innawoods or something prior to leaving. Joseph is a different person than who you're thinking of. First time he started evangelizing (that I witnessed, anyway) was on wizchan a few years ago. Think he has/had a board on original 8 or moe, too.
