Mark nuked the thread on 8moe.

How many people here still carry a torch for moe console-tans in wacky JRPG plotlines? Yes, they (and Compile Heart) are still around. In fact, they're getting a new mainline after a whole fucking decade since VII.

https://www.compileheart.com/neptune/unlimited/

Problem is, uh, it looks kinda lame. The redesigns are all clearly designed to minimize the ero appeal (censorship), and the turn-based JRPG combat has been scrapped in favor of simplified action-based "press A to awesome" combat. But hey, at least you can fly now. All in all, it feels more like Nepshin Impact now than a proper mainline Neptunia game, especially when Sisters vs Sisters and Game;Maker had this exact same style of gameplay and we were told they were just spinoffs.
The main four CPUs we've all come to love are now getting upstaged by new goddesses who represent the current gen of consoles while making it seem like the old ones have retired. I for one would have vastly preferred they just made them new forms. The Candidates have been "promoted" to advisors to the new CPUs despite how ridiculous the idea of someone like Rom and Ram having any influence in government is. The plotline is apparently based on Neptune timelooping to prevent some major catastrophe that comes from space.
Compile Heart and Idea Factory are going all out promoting this game with interviews, Tsunako's direct involvement from the conceptual stage, limited editions including new Nepugurumi plushies that cost hundreds of dollars, DLC season passes, etc. It really feels like the final Hail Mary they have after they've dug themselves into a hole lately with a bunch of indie-tier overpriced neutered shovelware like Scar-Lead ("hey, did we miss the roguelite trend already?") or Calamity Angels (clearly a scrapped mobile game concept) that repeatedly fails to chart on the Famitsu Top 30 or move the line on Steam.

Spreads with the new Candidate designs as well as Iffy/Compa. These predictably got hit even harder, especially poor Uni. Holy shit Black Sister is a fucking mess.

With the main CPUs, there's a little room for plausible deniability since they're adapting their NEXT forms from VII, but the Candidates have no such excuse. And even with the main four, you can see little things like White Heart's little nip slips got turned into a whole chest plate, and Green/NEXT Green's shorts got lengthened. Still, these alone wouldn't be much to write home about, but in light of everything else, it just all adds up. You can tell both White Sisters were meant to have exposed thighs, but it got lazily covered up with pantyhose, and Black Sister's design makes it very obvious she was supposed to be way more revealing than she ended up being. And on top of all this, these new designs are just worse in general, they're too "busy" and haphazard compared to the simple but effective bodysuits + mecha musume of the old CPU forms. They look more like Chinese gacha characters now, which just further adds to the Genshin Impact comparisons.

Someone on 4Cuck made a quick edit of Black Sister's new design just to show how and where she was obviously censored in development. This is not new for Compile Heart either; they did the same thing for Death end re;Quest 2 when Soyny started their shit, and just like here, you can easily tell where the censorship was applied, especially when taking into account previous designs.
But like I said, even with the "censorship" removed, it's still a worse and more haphazard design than her previous mechanical bodysuit, as well as less thematically consistent, something you could always tell with the old designs is that they always had a level of consistency between them, but these new designs are all over the place.

This might be sound logic... if the game industry was still consistently making quality games. It is not, and barely anything is worth the price tag these days. But Compile Heart have too much of a conflict of interest to ever give the "piracy" side a fair shake.

Also, I can't help but notice all these pics are from SvS. Is that the only Neptunia game you played, because I'd argue that's not really a good representation of the series.

VII is usually considered the best. Since it was the first game developed for PS4, it got a major budget boost and improved production values across the board, plus a pretty solid, if somewhat disjointed (since it was originally going to be three separate games that were then crammed into one) story about the Dreamcast.
I personally like Victory/Re;Birth 3, it's got just enough of the console war theming after it took a backseat in Mk2, and as such, the main four are redeveloped there and have actual character arcs, especially my wife Blanc (even if I hate how it plays out). It's set in a retro console-themed Gamindustri where initially there's just Planeptune and Lowee before Noire founds Lastation and shakes everything up. As a result, it comes off a lot of the time like it's shilling Soyny if that bothers you, but I was able to look past that. There's minimal involvement by the Candidates who don't join until the end of the game; this is a plus for me because to me they mostly just exist to leech spotlight from their superior sisters which Re;Birth 3 does a decent job of refocusing on.

Waifu as it's been used 95% of the time in the past decade, as a generic word for "2D female" (often in plural), is ironic weeb-y, as opposed to the traditional meaning of a specific 2D female you are in love with.
As for "loli", the picture says "lolis", so maybe it's referring to pluralizing the word specifically, I don't know. The picture is otherwise mostly right anyway.

Yet the image doesn't use the plural form (the actual misuse which you see most of the time), but the legitimate singular one just in case someone uses it wrong. The image repeats this enough times that looking at it is like watching an autoimmune disorder destroy its own body. The immune system is targeting the commonalities its body shares with invaders instead of focusing on the differences, and this weakens the body enough that it ironically becomes an easier target for other parasites.

Finale was one of the first Compile Heart games that was "pre-censored" for Soyny (Purge minigame removed and some Blood Skelter outfits changed, consistent in all versions of the game), and for various other reasons as well I consider it inferior to the first two games, but it's still alright, it also at least had True End on the fanservice side to literally marry your favorite Blood Maiden complete with wedding CG, as well as bundling the original Love Love Prison Tower released with the JP limited edition of Mary Skelter 2 in Finale's base game. Go figure, it's also the last game Norihisa Kochiwa worked on.

Grope simulator minigames are for fags anyway, as evidenced by waifu emblem adding a watered-down version as one of the first things they did to pander to women and ironic weebs. I don't appreciate devs being forced to remove them by the jews but it always seemed like the coward's way to crank up fanservice without applying effort and invariably the wrong kind of skeezy. Either come up with some decent romance writing and commit to being a dating sim or have a full-bore sex minigame like that one flash and commit to the male self-insert MC and his combat harem that gets rewarded with hot dickings.

In other words, do exactly what Mary Skelter Finale ended up doing with its True End or, unless it's something as cucked as that one sex minigame from God of War where the the characters aren't even visible while you're doing it (all you get are sound cues), rest assured that everyone but the otakus would oppose the game so fiercely they'd label it pedoshit, fair game and cancel it immediately. Best case, the game would be confined to the same distribution channels as doujin games with its AO/refused classification rating, which would mean no consoles, and that's where the majority of Compile Heart's sales are coming from.
Compa's other franchises could use some dating sim elements, though. Affection system in HDN PP was a breath of fresh air. I'd pay full price (and then some) for a game that would give me a drama CD-like experiences with all of the Neps, let alone marrying them.

I don't know how in the world you got the idea of them pandering to women or ironic weebs at all, those are literally the two groups MOST likely to pitch a bitchfit over them.

It's a way to be able to lewd the heroines without compromising their "purity", something important if you want otakus to get attached to the characters, because how much do you really care about a girl whose sole purpose in the story is to be a whore who gets fucked in half a dozen different holes? The way I try and put it is that ecchi allows lewd and maidenhood to coexist by putting the heroines in "embarrassing" situations where both their femininity and their innocence is put on display. You may call this a mere half-measure, but as a connoisseur of moe and bishoujo games, I value this aspect.
Put in a more layman's way, I like seeing cutelewd anime girls interact with each other and save the world while still being sexy, not Goblin NTR Giga Rape Simulator: Maiden's End edition. If I reach for an H-game, it's going to be something more wholesomelewd like OniKiss or something with a novel concept and story like Maitetsu.

Rating boards themselves have never actually banned or refused to rate a game over these minigames, actually. All of Compile Heart's games with them have cleared the ESRB and CERO with an M or D respectively at most, with some of them even being rated T (Agarest War 2). It's Sony and Nintendo's own internal content review teams that have begun objecting to them in the wake of #MeToo where feminist journalists argued they promote rape and harassment and were responsible for GamerGate and this was enough for Sony to implement policies to block them with Microsoft and Nintendo following later. Steam still allows them, but only if the character isn't "underage" (which sadly they have an extremely broad definition of, especially when anime styles are involved). I don't know how every single console maker collectively fell for the "le rape culture" meme including ones that are ostensibly Japanese, but they did. So you're right for the wrong reasons. There has not been a single one of these minigames in a Compile Heart game since Mary Skelter 2 and it frustrates me to no end, they used to be so common on Vita games and now they just got wiped out of existence because some resentful foid couldn't handle an anime girl being more desirable than she is. Tokyo Clanpool's rerelease cleared both CERO and ESRB and yet it had so many issues launching with the minigame that the publisher ultimately had to resort to a fucking USB stick physical release which as far as I know is completely unheard of for something that wasn't actually banned or refused by the rating boards.
The average normie genuinely doesn't give a shit that these games exist much less be willing to protest or boycott Nintendo or Sony for hosting them and give up their bing bing wahoo and UE5 beige moveislop games to do so, so Sony and Nintendo are just cutting their own nose to spite their face here, they gain no favor from normalfags for censoring them, they only lose favor with otakus. It's just some petty bullshit they feel they can get away with because otakus are too few in number to make a dent on their sales by protesting.

You must've misunderstood me. I was making my point on why a full-bore sex minigame, as suggested by the anon above >>308374 is not only not going to happen but is also extremely undesirable due to the consequences it'll bring.
I wasn't talking about the ecchi stuff in Mary Skelter or Tokyo Clanpool.

Oh, I profoundly misunderstood you then.
Still, it's extremely fucked up that a mild-moderate (former) console-safe ecchi minigame has become as hard as if not harder to release than literal full-bore on-screen fucking.

New magazine spread + (crudely) AI-translated English version.
Evidently they're trying to bring back the create-a-Processor system from the original Victory, but in a degraded form that only lets you change color.
Part of me wonders if this is in lieu of a Processor equipment system like we used to have. SvS and GMRE did not let you change processors and it's likely that this will be the same, there's just going to be one unified processor set for all characters. This would also mean you can forget about them adding the old processor outfits as DLC let alone anything like Black Sister's Next-Gen Cradle.
