What I'd do for a high-budget open-world Pokemon dating sim/JRPG in the style of Persona.
I don't know how they did it, but, at least up until gen 9, they've made some of the most memorable and cute female designs in all vidya.
I'll be going about my day, and suddenly remember a cute design of a gym leader or female MC.
It's a shame it's all going to waste.
Just play SM. Lillie is basically your girlfriend in that game.
I can't really like Pokegirls the same way I used to because it feels like a side effect of the series' growing disinterest in being Pokemon games starting with the end of Gen 4.

SM is the last Pokemon game I played, because it was so shit, even if it did have a lot of cute girls.

He is the gay.
Pokemon was over for me around gen 6 and the switch to 3D. I remember the crazy amount of hype before XY released, it really seemed like the franchise was breaking new ground and anything was possible. Then XY released and was a major letdown, followed by an even bigger letdown (ORAS) and that was it for me.
I still emulate the older games every now and then but a fast-forward/turbo setting is a must considering the insane amount of grinding. I get that this is a JRPG after all but holy shit.
>>295265
>I should've specified I want a GOOD game.
You are not going to find that from Game Freak. Not anymore. If you want good Pokemon games, you gotta play the fangames. Reborn, Rejuvenation, and Desolation are the holy trinity of Pokemon made by people who actually like the franchise and actually try to make a game worth a damn. They aren't dating sims as the OP wishes for, but they genuinely push the formula above and beyond anything GF will ever be capable of.
What are some enjoyable romhacks? I crave pogemans.

I had a lot of fun replaying HGSS and going for the black trainer card recently. I used save states for the frontier because of quick claw sheer cold bullshit, but aside from the battle tower and the battle factory I didn't even need to use them. You can also try Battle Revolution as an additional challenge, but you should start using pokehex here if you don't enjoy training your mons optimally.
And for the dating sim part I'd recommend the 4/vp/ VNs, in case you haven't played them already:
A New Dawn
Unova Nights
Olivine Lights
Marnie's Moment

I didn't even know about these post gen 5 zoomermonsters. The cat thing is generation IX and I stopped at generation IIIish obviously. Gardevoir is a meme due to having come first. Before her all the pokemon didn't look very android-esque except for the gay clown one that's even older than her. The rest have bare crotches of which implies no genetals, the ones that could be called humanoid tier.
>faggots have big heads
If that is the inference I'm here to inform you that in moe pretty much all of the female characters have ayylmfao heads. Also, just throwing it out there, but women probably wear dresses more often than men do. I know it's hard to believe but there it is. Or is that a bundle of sticks making her a faggot? She's not sticks nor a football head tho......she's a one eyed emo girl in a dress with blades of grass for arms/hands.

I don't know why people like the Mewtwo "armor" so much. It doesn't really act as armor from what I recall. More like a dampener on his psychic powers so he can be controlled more easily. It's more like the tard guard helmets they stuck on the clones of god they created.

Your own post shows how wide the gap in quality between the two are though. Mewtwo's armor has a cool design for such a short part of the movie and it represents humanity losing control over it's own creation. It's just a smaller piece of the clear effort to make Mewtwo the "final boss" of genwun.
Meanwhile Silvally gets an ugly bronze bar and his unleashed form has less base stats than a pseudo.
Replies: >>296579
>>296575
Type:Null's muzzle is reminiscent of when they put football or hockey helmets on retarded kids to keep them from hurting themselves as much. And he's supposed to be a clone or synthetic copycat of Arceus design-wise, similar to Mewtwo being a clone of Mew.
>>296578
I didn't necessarily mean it was as lame in appearance as the shit on Silvally's head, just that it isn't as cool to me as others seem to think it is because it's effectively weakening Mewtwo instead of empowering him. It's like when fighters in Dragon Ball Z wear weighted gear. It would make sense for his stats to be lower in that form whenever it's thrown into a hack. Apparently it's in Pokemon Go, but I have no clue how its stats compare to base Mewtwo in that. As far as Silvally's stats go, they should've at least given it base 100 across the board with maybe a bump up to 115 speed.

I haven't seen any normalfags or kids play these newer games. It's all redditors and mindless consumer drones, altho to be fair that is a large number by itself. Still, the newer generation isn't that interested in the franchise and their parents are only going to be interested in Pikachu for so long as they age out, unless the games start actually rising in quality I don't see the franchise staying on top. Call of Duty also used to be a juggernaut, now look at the story state it is in today due to Activision's retarded mishandling. Memberberries and a unique formula will only get you so far if you alienate your customers and shit down the throats of those you still have.

Also, I should add that most people I know that do actually play the games either do so in competitive(mostly Showdown) or they play older games, usually romhacks. The games don't need a million new pokemon, there are plenty of animal based mons and the classics that can take up infinite pokemon fan generations, for the card game they should have used I.Vs or some shit for their slow powercreep to sell new cards instead of new pokemon and the other retarded shit I'm sure they do like in all big TCG games.

There's two definate "end" points as far as "quality" in the Pokemon series. Either end with Gen 2 on the GBC, as it fulfills the original vision the game's had when they were first conceived, or end with Gen 5, as everything after that point was when they REALLY began to push the bullshit gimmicks that were only important to one gen and gone the next.

That's a good roguelike spinoff, honestly.
>I see it got an update a little while ago that added more lategen mons which I am whatever about
The problem with newer mons are less the designs and more the stat distribution creep and ability crap more than anything. If you get something like fighting-type Zapdos, that's fucking cool in my book.

Jap creatives have a bad habit of taking jew shit at face value (for example Hidden Star in Four Seasons was gonna do something about muh stigma and "cripples are actually strong goy" which is why the whole game is basically a cry for help from the final boss) so I would consider giving them the benefit od the doubt, but then I remember the Koei Tecmo CEO who walks around with a Great Reset pin and I hope Sanseito stops fucking around.

I haven't updated. I mean as an open world pogeymans I suppose its fine, you just catch what you want and go for it so its only creep if you care. It has that finder so you can catch what you want on the route which I appreciate. Currently running crab team which is causing me issues at the current gym. I'm getting all the gay zapped away and if I can balk it I get paralyzed. Im sure I can beat my head long enough to sqeak out a victory. I'll post team later.
I like it so far, think I'll go into more depth at some point about it.

I just mean the mons added to Rogue Emerald are fine, but there is definitely some serious powercreep in the main designs' stats after a certain point. I think mons started getting optimized during gen 5, then trying to balance some other mons with megas really came about in gen 7, but the baby gpt thrown out with the bath water after that and they just stopped importing most mons to newer games. Galarian Zapdos is from gen 8, but all of the OG legendary bird redesigns are pretty cool, though gen 9 has a ton of soft-redesigns that kind of wreck the game even more than gen 7 ultra beasts did. My favorite mons from the past few generations are Buzzwole and Galarian Zapdos.

Pokemon ROWE is open world emerald. But I see pokemon rogue emerald also exists.
ROWE is what it says on the tin.
The whole map is open at the start. You can pick a bunch of different starters, difficulty setings, start in any town, there are a ton of options you can choose like set levels, level scaling depending on gyms beaten, trainer outfits, a whole buncha crap.

Scrambled Scarlet, but not sure how good it is. At a glance, it also has extra shit you may not want such as mons with new types (e.g. ice/fire Growlithe). Side note: gayduck with his signature and hidden ability is pretty fun to use. Free attack and speed raises to snowball to the moon.

>disappointing
Honestly, the design isn't even the egregiously bad part (just another gay bait and switch like the Seal), it's the gayest animations in Pokemon history that genuinely puts a nail in it. Compared to growing up with Swampert / Empoleon, and kids these days got the transgender seal and the gay duck shaking it's ass in your face the entire game; Waterkids of the current year need a pat on the back from a strong father figure or they're headed down a fucking dark path holy shit.

For what it's worth, just have a .txt dump of all my old ROMhack notes, but keep in mind they're ~about 2-3 years old but it should be a nice headstart and gist of what most are like. Keep in mind I've not played nearly any of these, and most of the notes are just my skim-read notes (not my opinion, probably not even 100% accurate);

Pretty sure you can find the raw set under "[おのとしひろ] 電撃ピカチュウ 第01-04巻". Just saying since there's another active torrent that's listed as Dengeki Pikachu but is actually some other, much longer series called Dengeki Daisy (and no, it has nothing to do with Gary's/the gen 1 rival's sister).

Honestly, I’m not sure. Viz officially released the series in official English a really, really long time ago at this point, and the only English (at least, I assume English, it’s not specified) scanlation information I can find on mangaupdates is AEther Scans from late 2007 and early 2008, but only for chapter 1 and 2. That’s assume they’re totally up to date on who’s done what for that series; Viz could have DMCAed anyone who has, and I don’t know if they still own it. I’d have to flip through the raws more to see just what the nature of the text rendering is in terms of ease of clearing (insofar as not having access to the textless files Viz would have had), but it’s certainly short enough at only four volumes that it wouldn’t be a super long project for someone to pick up.

Okay, so Volume 1 would likely need a lot of adjustment edits to the black and white levels to make things meant to be solid colors feel actually, well, solid. That’s not exactly hard to accomplish, at least. Pages for spreads also can’t stitch well; they just don’t align properly even ignoring the "seam", which makes me wonder how much of the page heights were actually cut off in the process. Thankfully not a lot of spreads to begin with though.

Volumes 2-4 though feel more cohesive as scans, like something was learned by whoever did them, but also that whoever scanned it didn’t go back to redo volume 1 afterward. In terms of text layering, it looks like most of the script, aside from the volume intros (character bios and such) chapter titles, and sound effects, are all in bubbles or boxes or against solid color backgrounds, so only minor visual edits would be needed over all, but whoever did so would still need to be reasonably talented, assuming actual text replacement and not something like adding background boxes to contain English titles.

The biggest issue I can foresee though would be determining which names to use for things, between the established English ones and original, canon Japanese ones, given how heavily localized Pokemon as a multmedia series tends to be where official releases are concerned. The manga often uses romanized writing in the art when needed despite the script being proper Japanese, which in some ways is a plus for cases of actual English (“Police”, “Game, Udon” (I think that's what the sign said; obscured by foreground, etc), but character names and locations do show up visually as well from time to time, using romanized Japanese (such as on Satoshi’s Pokemon Master license).

There are a few /v/ related works I wouldn't mind helping to fix up myself (like redoing Metroid; from a cursory comparison, "SnoopyCool" didn't exactly do that great a job of it back in 2008), but the main thing I could truly be confident about contributing would be typesetting, and that's probably the simplest role. Research for notes too.

Many thanks for the list and the notes.
I remember having a blast playing Pokemon Prism back in the early 2010s, even making it to the end of the (incomplete) story. Sad to see that it's still unfinished today while undergoing development by different, less trustworthy devs...

My current favorite ROM hack is Pokemon Orange, an overhaul based on the Orange Islands anime. The hack goes to great lengths to replicate the OI story and events, even including alternate Pokemon forms like the Crystal Onix and the Pinkan Pokemon. There are also some (tasteful) backports of mechanics and Pokemon from newer generations, as well as various QoL features, my favorite being the smooth 60 FPS gameplay which doesn't strain my eyes. Last but not least is the utterly beautiful sprite work and coloring, the original GSC simply doesn't compare.
I'm yet to finish the game but I'm having lots of fun, highly recommended.

Hmm, so it seems there were two “official” English versions. Viz Media’s, and Chuang Yi (Singaporen Asian-English). The latter basically licensed the translation and edits from Viz for their own, but actually left the pages of Misty bathing in the Evolutionary Hot Spring in, and those were the only pages in the manga they did their own translation work for, and it shows.

It also looks like the original Coro-Coro magazine version was even more risque than the Tentomushi Comics Special volumes, with Misty being completely naked in the hot spring waterfall with no towel, a woman in naked-apron asking if Brock would like her to wash his back, and the body suits the information center girls wear also having Pokeball decals over their tits. Guessing parents or sponsors complained to some degree even in Japan, the way BoBoBo had some changes made for its anime adaptation (Softon's head becoming a strawberry swirl rather than a chocolate dog turd, and Kilalino wearing his partner Takashi/Lucky panty-hat style instead of actual groin wrapping underwear; somehow both made it into Hudson’s PS2 game intact).

Makes me wonder if there are full scans available of the original Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special issues it ran in, or if the volumated prints are the only Japanese ones available these days. May not be much sense in anyone trying to provide an uncensored English manga unless those can be found in suitable quality, or it would likely just feel half-assed.

I’d have to double check to see if there’s a listing for the actual magazine volume numbers, but it looks like it ran from April 1997 to December 1999, in Bessatsu Corocoro Comic Special (別冊コロコロコミック Special) and Corocoro Comic (コロコロコミック). I’m not sure exactly why it was in both magazines, but if I had to guess, it would be because Dengeki Pikachu’s release schedule changed from bi-monthly to monthly, and thus warranted a change.

Again, the tankoubons for Dengeki Pikachu can be found on torrent sites (it's nineteen chapters over four volumes), but the monthly issues of the magazines it ran in don't seem to have readily accessible scans out there, at least from what I can see, though it doesn't help that I can't find either the issue numbers it ran through either. That said, the visual quality of the comparison image in >>303822 does suggest that someone out there might have them, or at least made scans for those specific pages.

Some more talk about version differences, as well as the magazine versions being really hard to find, even physically.
>The comic as it originally ran in the magazine CoroCoro Comics Special (別冊コロコロコミックSpecial), a bi-monthly off-shoot of the original CoroCoro Comics (コロコロコミック). The magazine version is arguably the most difficult version of this series to find as old issues of CoroCoro Comics Special are very rarely ever found on online auction sites or used book stores.

Also apparently whatever age Kasumi/Misty originally gave for herself in the magazines was too spicy for the tankoubon versions, so it was rewritten. To her being twelve.

Think XY was the first Pokemon game to allow for player character skin and hair color choice. Anime would be Black and White/"Best Wishes" with Iris being a little tree-climbing vine-swinging niglet always giving Ash shit about being "a kid". And Unova being intended as the north east coast of America, there's no "she's Okinawan" excuse like Phoebe in RSE could pass with. Though I guess Iris could well be a mutt, as she's still sort of light compared to Aunt Jemima being a gym leader in the same game, and far from being the niggest character in the series.
