DOMINOS, RISE OF THE PIZZAMAN MAN
It's so nice, they had it twice edition

Well what is this "Dominons" is it safe for my kids?
Fuck no, that little autistic faggot is going to be screaming about the overpowered jews from his bedroom at 3am.

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously,
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Dominions is set in a fantasy world that draws inspiration from historical nations, cultures and myths. You will not encounter the elves of conventional fantasy in this game. Instead you might lead a nation of vanir from old norse myth. Aztecs, romans, israelites OY VEY!! , greeks, kievian rus and lovecraftian horrors are just a few of the inspirational sources of the game.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

>Dom6mod inspector: This lets you browse units, spells and items in the game

>Dom6wiki: Mostly up to date information on Dominions 6, may have to reference 5's wiki
https://illwiki.com/dom5/start

>Blitzserver for hosting games
https://beta.blitzserver.net/games

This game is a hell of a learning curve but if it tickles your autism you are in for a treat. The game is split between 3 "ages" Early, Middle, and Late with nations rising and falling as time marches on. This includes the units they posses, magic they can use, and spells available. There's a ton of nuance into how you can play with the most powerful statement being "it depends".
The game is playable in singleplayer mode and I've been told the AI in 6 is good for a knifefight in a phonebooth but the game really shines in multiplayer. Much like Kenshi, getting your assbeat makes you more powerful when seeing what a living breathing person does to you. It's taught me the value of mages, thugging, super combatants and what kind of retarded blesses you can do.

There are a lot of concepts in game to wrap your head around such as thugging and item creation, including the intimidating stats screen for a unit. But don't let it stop you, the game is complex, not complicated.
And if you don't want that just play Mictalin with a hellbless and go to town before you burn up as a glorious phoenix.

There is currently a ZZZchan game up and I'm sure anons would be willing to join more if asked. Don't be shy to ask about concepts in the thread.

Go now my son, play Dominions, make mistakes, learn, and rise to become the true pantankoman!.

It's too hard to come back from any loss in CoE for my tastes. The AI cheats like a motherfucker so you need every single troop you can get, particularly special troops, and you can often lose them to some RNG bullshit die to not having control over the battles. It's a fun way to waste time but I don't take it very seriously.
Haven't played it multiplayer though.
Replies: >>281007 >>281008
>>281005
And I've only ever played Dominions single player myself.
For CoE, the skill is building army composition for the auto battles. It's kinda like games such as Darkest Dungeon in the sense that you're supposed to make the best out of a bad situation, if that makes sense. Also, I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a scout in every single one of your armies, because ambushes can and will kill your leader almost every single time.
I think what vibes with my autism the most about CoE is altering the map as the "real" meta game. Scourge Lord for example is my favorite playstyle. It's all about sucking the life out of tiles surrounding pillars you invest in which in tun power your dudes. The affected tiles turn into deserts and shit while your guys can summon a metric fuck ton of nasty critters such as giant ants which will act as uncontrollable "vassals" in a sense.

I dunno, I think I just prefer CoE over Dominions because it's simpler, which is weird because I really love turbo 'tism games like it.
Maybe I should just try playing more Dominions until I find a gimmick that sticks with me.
Replies: >>281015
>>281005
Oh yeah, sorry for double posting,
I'm no expert, but I'm fairly positive that any AI ranking above Knight is what simply has cheated in resources like the AI in games like Warcraft 3 and shit. Knight level seems to me to be the most reasonable AI diffictuly if you want a fair challenge. Of course though, they're predictable as shit, so after a while you can learn all their quirks and start owning even the highest level AI. Trial and error, really.
After this turn I'll give it another increase. I believe I did it yesterday. That way our player who is away will get a bit more time.
>>281007
I'm still sub 80 hours in CoE and I've yet to try every class, so I'll assume your opinion is better informed than my own. Currently Dominions is eating most of my (very scant) free time but I hope to give Elysium a more solid going-through in the future. So far, I've enjoyed Demonologist and Warlock the most. Being able to modify the terrain is pretty satisfying - disabling monster spawners to create a "civilized" area with your garrisoned troops feels good. I'd probably like the game better if it was entirely You vs Nature without the competitive aspect.

Dominions never really stuck for me until I got into multiplayer. You've probably heard it before, but it's an entirely different experience. Most games that get hosted on 4chan are pretty noob friendly and I'd highly recommend giving one a go.

The map is randomly generated. The reason is mostly laziness although I didn't wanna be accused of partiality incase a designed map would benefit me. In addition I wasn't sure how many people would sign up so making it flexible with random gen. (Mostly laziness).

Next time I'll tailor a map though I have not done it at all since 5 when there was no underground layer, even if it sucks being a janny and kicking people out should it hit a player limit because yeah I was under the assumption the random gen was better in 6 but with this many people I think map gen just goes autistic sometimes.

If you have any resources or tips for map genning then I'm all ears but yeah sorry it fucked you over was meant to be a good time :(

Maybe you should had actually looked at the score board Ashdod or your messages to see who owned the Bishop Fish, instead of being a retard. Y's is trying to trick the lobby because he's the one throne rushing after attacking Arcoscephele, and blocking Mictlans win.

Y's has 10 throne (now down to 8 because I just stomped one of them) and is on his way mid land to take Mictlans thrones you guys have been getting all whipped up by Y's this entire time to agitate against me but it's the FUCKING ELVES as always!

The one you're about to take puts us equal at 8 points each, and my grasp on another throne is tenuous at best. I'm also not the one who's researched nearly every spell in the game, or whom currently has a 1000 strong army with no less than 40 mages in it. I can't even seriously contest Mictlan with that shit looking me in the face.
Replies: >>282674

Its turn 58 there is no way in hell he has every spell researched in the game, the research graph just shows who has the current highest research points per turn.

Well, this is probably about it for me. I mostly blame my Adept of the Silver Order, who decided that 19 base morale was not nearly enough to face down the sort of bullshit Ryleh had sent my way and did not cast the very important spells that he was supposed to. I also rolled even worse than expected on the many magic duels I cast.

I'd been watching his previous fights and was still unaware that he could do about a quarter of the shit he did. Well done, squids. Not gonna go AI but I'm pretty fucked at this point and will probably not try very hard going forward. I've got exactly two more tricks up my sleeve and I'm not hopeful about either of them.

I was angling to cast arcane domination in that fight and steal all of them, but I decided that would be overkill. >>283528
Yeah, it was a good time. I took out two other nations (one with heavy assistance, but still) and managed to screw Mictlan out of their gambit to win, which feels like a decent first outing to me. I think the main thing that fucked me was a lack of research.

So how the fuck do you learn to play this game? These threads are always hilarious but I'm spooked by the potential learning curve and the time commitment involved.
>>283777
You learn by learnin BOOOOOOOYY.
Watch vids, play single player, and then embark on your first multiplayer game.
You will likely get your shit slapped BUT watching HOW someone is slapping your shit can teach you a lot.
Also you can just ask either in game or in thread. Its fun anon, you should try it.
>>283777
It's not that hard to learn, just play a couple AI games with Easy/Normal AI until you get a hang of it then jump into multiplayer to get destroyed.

>What nation should I pick?
Any nation you like, but focus on early age or middle age.
Avoid nations that utilize blood magic, underwater nations, cave nations, avoid popkills nation like ermor or asphodel.

>What pretender should I make?
An awake "monster" with earth magic, then give yourself the "hard skin" bless.
Noteable good expander monsters: Earth Serpent, Drakon, thrice horned boar, the point is to get a pretender with a high level "natural protection" (16-20 protection) and then add the earth bless on top of that, making them practically unkillable by regular humans.
Pick the monster and get the earth bless, pay for the bless and monster by going high heat, turmoil and possibly sloth if need be.

Keep in mind your "bless" will only be active for your pretender in friendly dominion, stick to attacking provinces with your religion basically.

>When can I join a multiplayer game?
The standard rule of thumb is owning 15-20 provinces by turn 12. If you can do that you've set yourself up for a decent start. So do a few test games versus the AI until you can pull it off reliably.

However, keep in mind that there is only one winner in every game, and so enter the game with an expectation to get your ass whooped the first match, it happens to basically everyone. You'll learn a lot though and that will be fun. Watch Youtube videos, ask in threads and use the Dominions wiki + mod inspector to research stuff you're curious about.
