I'd recommend it if it were only sale for $10 or less, or if you could play it online even while on the seven seas.
It plays off of heavy online reliance, with player-made structures appearing in your world that you can use, so that's the message Kojima wants to get across, that we're all ~CONNECTED~
The novelty it presents gets washed away decently quickly by things the game introduces to make travel easier, which undermines the biggest "fun" the game provides which is having to navigate difficult terrain to get from point A to point B.
Online presence means others can contribute to your structures or you can contribute to others. It's never difficult, in my experience, to get materials to upgrade areas to such an extent that you don't even have to worry about the terrain. The fun disappears. The walking simulator has nothing interesting to offer at that point. Combat is incredibly, unbelievably rare and not fun, because Kojima's little world focuses on non-lethal confrontation and isn't an action-packed focus like the MGS series. There's no great depth, no nuance to gameplay; it all gets absorbed by his overbearing story-driven nonsense. It is overpriced to hell. This could've been a $30 game, but Kojima is desperate to cast real-world actors and make sure their real-world manasses, flabs, and folds are captured in real detail. That increases the cost of making the game, which necessitates a high price tag. This is an indie dev's little cute project given a AAA price tag.
That being said, it's interesting and I can't fault the slanty eyed faggot for trying something new, but it reeks of his touch, and it's not paced well. Keep on the main missions alone and you'll do just fine, especially since those missions are the way you unlock new things that make the game easier.
