>do you think any kid is getting hyped up for this?
The 16-year-old kids who grew up in the walled garden ecosystem of the Switch for the last decade? Sure. All they've ever known is Nintendo on console and all they're ever been able to do is insert money into the eShop to get an Official Nintendo Product™ like good piggies.
You and I probably imagine the recent hideous Starfox remake on Switch 2 to be an artistic and commercial disappointment that did not resonate with kids, but from what I've heard from a friend who does actually interact with zoomers and has a life outside the internet, the kids love it. They're so starved for something resembling a functional video game with a start and end that yet another remake of an N64 game floors them. Meanwhile anybody who has played the original will notice the uncanny enemy placement in the new levels, the draw distance making things too visible, or the horrid lack of readability due to the overabundance of particle effects.
It's the Japanese ideal: sell something to a generation, let it wither and die, then pour a single drop of water on it to sell it to their kids.
