Still nervous about abandoning microsjang meinkraft (the devil you know, trumps the devil you don't) and monkey-branching to Vintage Story, Luanti, Terraria, and others in that neighborhood. Still kinda wanna at least try Fear: Nightfall, From The Fog, fully experience Better Minecraft (still haven't even after a year), and a few microscopic ones like Homestead and Nap Time first.
>>293530
What's the problem with Minecraft? If you don't like Microsoft you can play the older versions.
>>293530
I still play minecraft on my 360 from time to time. No spyware and it's nice to play it from a competent studio such as 4J that actually optimized the game. Also it has a strange feel to it that i can't really replicate on PC... probably nostalgia but whatever.

Hated how small the worlds were on 360. One of the things I like about Minecraft is being able to walk in one direction for hours.

Yes that's a drawback i used to share. But to be honest on PC (vanilla, mind you) I always liked the "prospect" of being in an almost infinite world but actually never explored more than the size of an xbox world. I think on vanilla you're already past end game if you explored and exploited more than that, it still takes me days to finish mining caves. The cave systems are definitely bigger than what i used to remember

I've been playing a lot of Vintage Story as of late and really like it over modern Minecraft, which I use to play a lot up until the time they added hunger. Lost the urge to play it once Microsoft played it. Vintage Story scratches that itch. Cool lore, good music, pretty (for a voxel game), and is actually a challenge in the beginning. I highly recommend it.

I thought I liked Vintage Story, but after putting over 100 hours into a run, turns out I don't. It's got a ton of flavorful fluff and intricate methods of doing things, but the actual meat of the game, that being enemies, caves and ruins, just suck. Rust enemies are repetitive, uninteresting and don't drop anything useful. Wildlife is just wildlife. Once you establish your base and your farm and get some iron, there's basically nothing to look forward to.
Something else that baffles me is how spaced out everything is and how limited your fast travel or teleportation options are. You can easily spend dozens of hours looking for bullshit and not finding it. The different climate zones that you'd want to explore also take so long to get to they may as well not exist, it's just hideously impractical.
I could mitigate this with different world settings and mods, but this takes experimentation and figuring stuff out. I don't want to give even more hours to this time vampire of a game. The default experience is just bad and the devs deserve shit for it.

>Rust enemies are repetitive
I will agree with this. Wish there was more of a variety.
>don't drop anything useful.
Yes and no. The things they do drop will always be useful. The issue is that it's a low chance on the surface, but higher tier enemies give a better chance. This leads to:
>Wildlife is just wildlife.
Leads to needed protein and early leather. Even as I have steel leather is still in demand but not nearly as much as it was mid game.
>Once you establish your base and your farm and get some iron, there's basically nothing to look forward to.
This more of an issue with multiplayer. What you should be doing is the single player lore stuff that have multiple chapters. Currently this isn't complete however but they plan to add more. Otherwise late late game is just decorating and maintaining. It takes ages to get to this point and by then most would have had their fill and move on.

Like right now I am currently trying to kill bears to get large/huge pelts for sturdy leather, while at the same time trying to gather the materials I need to have the night vision mask so I can go into ruins with my shield equipped. Nearly there.
My secondary goal is just making the town I'm in look nice, especially my base. Lot of the decorating stuff require decently rare materials.

I figured out how to use 2-pass with variable bitrate with the SVT-AV1 forks (apparently they've progressed to the point where all you need to do is turn off start-up mini-GOP and everything still works) so here's my attempt at compressing the 4K version.
For what it's worth it looks shockingly okay despite being set to QP 60-63. I had set it at a bitrate target of 4200k but this is easily half. I'm already running another test. 2-pass may be at the best state it's ever been for video encoding.

This is awkward because filesize limit, but doubleposting my 2nd attempt at 2-passing >>293704 with higher quality parameters, with improved visual quality.
Overall in testing, I prefer one-pass, because 2-pass overshoots, but 2-pass is definitely handy for convenience of having posts meet a filesize limit instead of just choosing a CRT and dividing the base filesize by a number.

Is it generating the game in real time the way it would generate a video? In that case we have a long way to go to have something even remotely decent.
However, if AI actually made a game beforehand (design, assets, code) and delivered it as a finished package, it would be better.

>a schrodinger's gay
I don't think that's video games but it sure made me laugh. Obviously the guy controlling it is gay though and you would not be. That's like saying it's gay to buy a woman controlled by some pimp or sex slave owner because he controls her body. You're paying him partially but fucking her not him. SIlly really. The first q though is is it legal? Obviously it's legal. Hookers are not hookers as soon as it becomes porn. Hookers are not hookers if escorts. It's really dumb they even tried to ban hooking, just like other feminist ideas are dumb (like paying women as much as men to do less work for example).
>>294890
....what?
>>294511

So he's self inserting into a male NPC fucking the character he's in control of? That's like self inserting into the partner fucking you irl, but as he's the girl so that makes it straight... why would the other guy call him gay then? It'd only be gay to self insert if controlling a man into the female NPC that is fucking him....

But then there's the control issue. If not in control you're a cuck.... like with politics and how people self insert into who is "representing them". They don't represent you, only a cuck would think that... so he's into NTR but not gay in other words.... and yes I did imply politicians are NPCs.

>not how empathy works
I know. I'm just shitposting. Also, sympathy is less of a buzzword than empathy. At what point did you really FEEL that NPC's pleasure? You did not, you just instinctively practiced your master plan. If it's too 'out there' most won't fap to it. It has to be in the realm of possiblity, of which is why there's so much drama over what one faps to, it's a plan, clearly. LIke school shootings and them playing Doom, FPS are super popular, so are school shootings... but they were in control over shooting the load so it's still NTR if you're self inserting into the NPC if not very empathetic like a woman would be so empathetic to negate that, of which makes you then once again gay.....

It was originally released in June 2019 for the PlayStation Vita, and was ported to the Nintendo Switch in December 2020, with a Windows version released in January 2022. It also released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in December 2023. An anime television series adaptation produced by Domerica premiered in October 2025.
And there's another anime that I will likely never watch.

No LoGH, GTO, Gungrave, Black Lagoon, Detroit Metal City, Berserk, Gintama, FMA(B), Hellsing, Steins;Gate, Yuru Camp, Planetes, Death Note, Area 88, Gin no Saji, Azumanga, NGNL, etc. etc.

Okay and? There's more than enough original stuff to watch. I have Agent Aika, Basquash, [C], Danguard Ace, eX-Driver, Fantastic Children, Garanndoll, Hand Shakers, Idolls, Juubee-chan, K Project, Labyrinth of Flames, Macross, Nagi no Asukara, Odd Taxi, Photon, Quiz Magic Academy, Ronan Warriors, Samurai Champloo, Tiger & Bunny, Uta-Kata, Vandread, Weiss Kreuz, Xabungle, Youtouden, Zombieland Saga, and so many more. The only reason people watch adaptations is that they personally choose to do so rather than anything having to do with a lack of options.

Why is the entire weebsphere this insistent on this pile of shit? It's a mediocre series with subpar character design that revolves around the villains being retarded, revenge being bad and dude tolerance lmao.
Alchemy is never brought up as anything other than a superpower and all "research" and depth to it shown amounts to drawing the two circles on top of each other instead of separately. Not a single good character arc was developed throughout all 65 episodes Edward's dad was mediocre, most importantly Greed's terrible arc which consisted in some side characters being killed then somehow becoming empathic and ultimately fighting to kill himself.
Moreover, most of the plot twists and mindgames were too braindead dumb to qualify as "political intrigue", like the entire episode dedicated to grown men passing each other notes below the restroom stalls about how the little kid is actually Satan or some shit. Fucking ass/10.

I remember being impressed that it was made so fast, the manga, and by only one person. The art was good and the story telling. usually that'd take two people especially with how quickly the manga was finished. Not fast enough though as people just HAD to make the first FMA that had the wrong ending. It was that liked, the manga, that they could not even wait to make the manga, so naturally everyone soyfaces at the correctly done one, FMA Brotherhood. It's the manga that was good is the point and that second FMA is the manga basically.

>If you don't want to enjoy some of the best anime ever made
It's not about experiencing the "best anime ever made". It's about experiencing someone else's interpretation of that story that I have an issue with. >We bitch all the time about how we're tired of seeing LOLcalizers butchering Western releases of games/anime/manga so that they can push whatever their fanfiction is, and yet this is practically the exact same thing. Hell, the anime adaptations of everything from Hokuto no Ken in the 80's to last year's Bocchi The Rock are not quiet about censoring content from the manga they're based on.

And it's not that much of a stretch to say that accepting your first experience of a series being the director's fanfiction means that playing Lego The Lord Of the Rings is an acceptable replacement for reading Tolkien's books. This is a concept known as "hyperreality", where you introduce an increasing number of interpreative frameworks that slowly distance people from the original concept (And reality by extension). A practical example would be like a strawberry going from the original plant to the pie (Using the original strawberries) to the soda (Using a highly processed version of the strawberries) before finally arriving at the candy (Which uses only the same chemicals but nothing of the original strawberries). Same thing here. Should I read the original Lupin III manga from nearly 50 years ago, OR watch the more light-hearted anime series that's been ongoing for over the past 40 years, the latest film coming out six years after the original author's death, that's been passed around dozens of different directors, and has crossed over with everything Detective Conan to Cat's Eyes. To put simply, how far removed is the current Lupin (Like in the currently ongoing isekai "Neighbor World Princess") from the original Lupin? This is of course ignoring that Lupin, itself, is a fanfiction sequel to the original Leblanc series, which only furthers my point.

I am not saying any of these things are bad. What I am asking is how far removed do you want to get from the original product?

Because every now and then an interpretation finds ways to draw out/upon differing aspects of the original work in combination with those added by the interpreter to varying effects.
Some times this can result in the interpretation propelling itself far beyond the original's boundaries through various means, even to the point of becoming its own source of interpretation.

...was anyone in this thread insinuating that (You) be forcibly compelled to consume an interpretation over the origin?
There are interpretations that have objectively exceeded their source material in some aspects, but there's nothing that should force you to play the gay nigger Demon's Souls remake over emulating the superior PS3 original unless you're a no brain nigger monkey herded into consuming DRM-ridden slop with no knowledge of the higher realms of existence.

Okay, but how would you know that without experiencing the original work in the first place?

Even further, should that even be accepted instead of demanding that people talk that inspiration and make something original out of it? Again, we go after people for doing this all the time. Like how you have Pedowood writers who change the entire work whole cloth to the point that it almost resembles nothing of the original work aside from the name. How far do you allow things to be taken before you finally saw enough?

It's made by a load of the people from Telltale, basically the same people making the same shit after the company went tits up.
Half the popularity comes from their roster of e-celeb voice actors, such as Moistcritical (the bat), Jacksepticeye (the muscular short guy), people from Critical Role, etc.
That, and it's got a few tits and dicks, as well as loads of horny dialogue.

Like >>296269 said your choices barely matter, mostly just small dialogue differences. They were even too lazy to re-record a few lines based on a choice of who you fire from the team, with both options suddenly getting they/them pronouns in a few cutscenes.
On the plus side though, at least it has gameplay. Not that even that makes a difference to the story, doing well just makes the game easier.

I really hate this mobage-tier "chibi" artwork that seems ubiquitous in newer Japanese products. They had this shit ironed out to a beautiful science back in the 80s/90s, Puyo Puyo Tsuu as an example has very cute SD character art. Look at what these shit butts did to the art in Langrisser for the "remake". Why does this shit out of nu-Japan look like it's from a soulless Chinese mobage farm?

The capacity to train new artists has atrophied and it’s becoming increasingly niche.

Most gacha with good art I know of is Korean, japs don't even offer much there. The only exception I know of is eroge, but when the "game" is simply a weak vehicle to display your art, I decided it doesn't count.
As an aside, it is interesting that I think 80s/90s japanimation is stellar, but any nudies from that era were lackluster, and now I generally feel the opposite, where most of the art that I think is interesting or expressive is coming from "hentai" artists.

>Women in Spanish town sieged by moors dress as men as attack deterrence
This story originates mainly from later medieval and early-modern sources rather than from contemporary chronicles. It’s likely just another instance of Spanish propagandistic embellishment meant to glorify victories over the Moors. It wouldn’t be the first time Creative Assembly has relied on legends like this to justify including female leaders or warriors in a historical setting.

>Gothic Starcraft
It’s worse than that, Warhammer 40K has basically turned into a parody of itself for a loud minority. The grimdark, the gothic horror, the distinct tone that set it apart, all of that has been diluted. At this point it feels like a generic sci-fi universe, arguably even more generic than StarCraft.

No anon, that shit happened, quite a lot during the Reconquista actually, women would dress like men and patrol the walls to make it seem like there where more men present in the garrison than reality.
What didn't happen them engaging in combat, they wouldn't last 2 seconds.

>No anon, that shit happened,
Yeah, you’ve got a few legends about women putting on helmets and standing on the walls, but there’s zero solid evidence it happened as some regular Reconquista tactic. Most of those tales show up centuries after the events, written by dudes who wanted to spice up the national mythos. If this was actually common, contemporary chronicles, which documented every goat stolen and every banner raised, would be screaming about it. Instead? Crickets. Just later writers hyping up hero stories because ‘look how epic our ancestors were.’ So no, it wasn’t some standard sneaky trick the Spanish kept pulling. At best you’ve got a couple of maybe-true anecdotes buried in propaganda and legend.

Warcraft began production as a Warhammer RTS, but Games Workshop wouldn't license the IP to them. Starcraft being a ripoff of 40k is pretty obvious, though I wouldn't call 40k itself a novel sci-fi setting either.

I am from spain and I never heard about that... It seems that actually existed, but only for the defense of a small castle in Catalonia, and the women did not fight, just repel the invaders as a dissuasive force, standing there. And after that defense of the castle, the order did not got more members and eventually dissapeared, so was more of a anecdotical thing. But It seems that nowadays the gay communist government of catalonia is making a lot of propaganda attributing feminism to that unit, because they get public funds to waste on filming shit nobody watches and spreading misinformation about national history. You already have Queen Isabella the Catholic as a ruler, or the spouse of El Cid that ruled a city and repelled several attacks... Spanish history is full of women taking arms (just not on the middle ages, and this hatchet order is not even a military order, just honorific order for a particular siege)... why the hell you do need to make propaganda about a minor unit.... A true wise spanish man said once that you should nuke Barcelona once each fifty years, maybe he was right.

From all the cool, catholic crusader orders they have to choose from, they just go for the most obscure one just to make the gay propaganda... Probably the order of Santiago Matamoros (moorslayer) is too offensive for modern standards...

Is not until the invention of gunpower when women don't start going to war, because for obvious reasons, having to wear the armor is too much for a woman. A rifle is still too much, but more bearable, and even then usually is for morale or support roles.

Otherwise, would it be gay? I would say that you're technically masturbating, and is it gay to masturbate with a dude? Yes. I mean, say you were gay and your gay lover went full on Steven Hawking from an accident, so he controlled a robot instead. But the only robot you could afford was a female model. On pixiv, there are only 106 fan art pieces, and 99% of them are definitely western by the full English handles and the bad art fundamentals/leaning on generative AI. Of the actually decent fan art that came from Asia, one artist was from Taiwan, the other from China (evidenced by musclegirl Gold Ship), and clearly both were women. Plus there's no presence of Dispatch at all on Steam, PS Store, or the Switch storefront in trending sales in Japan.

Instead of reacting to it online and leaving it at that, take tips from Asia, organize, and flood Cyber Agent. Pull ludicrous stunts like renting a display truck in front of headquarters. I may not have the best image of people who give Wizards of the Coast money but the Dungeons and Dragons base actually getting together to close their wallets and boycott Hasbro over trying to kill the Open Games License shows that collective economic pressure works.
Otherwise faux outrage does nothing.

It doesn't help that ((( Nyaa ))) closed registrations for uploads, effectively killing fansubbing, since they hold a monopoly on anime sharing. I've heard that there's some really insidious "cartel" shit going on at Nyaa, but I don't remember the details of that.

Please forgive me for making a request but I have tried for hours upon hours perennially to find what I'm after. I don't know how many years ago it was now but I remember in a /v/webm thread seeing a kirby gourmet race video but it was some kind of chopped up japanese play, a guy dressed like a girl(I think) danced around a bunch of animals one at a time(guys in black suits with animal masks) set to the gourmet race song from super star. The characters on screen did a dance with their arms pointed down and behind stomping on one foot while moving forward several times led by the other character. I've seen this referenced in other anime, most recently in that meme anime about the girl with deer antlers where the non-deer character does the dance at the deer chick to lure her closer. I would be fucking overjoyed to find the gourmet race version I had before my hard drive failure but if someone knows what the play in question was I would have a new lead to keep hunting myself. Thank you.

The show you're talking about is Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan / My Deer Friend Nokotan, torrent it https://nyaa.si/, watch it through, then clip what the fuck you're talking about, because that description means fuck shit to me. Because it's bad. Imagine 2010 World of Tanks, but with chink-tier "anime" graphics and the most bland, repetitive crew voices possible.
