It seems that 2000's Aero Glass is finally making a comeback, and the fact that Apple's the one doing it seems to indicate this could be a new trend since companies tend to copy whatever Apple does.

What does /tech/ think of it? I personally love it!
I used to like it but I think it's shit now.
>value performance and functionality over aesthetic
>Icons should be clear and readable and not relying on colors to tell them apart

lol is that real?
Windows Aero was better

Skeuomorphism is nice, but only if you can actually see your icons past the transparency and reflections.
Unfortunately the flat design brainrot seems to ripped out all the color Crapple used to have in the iOS 4 days, so I expect Microshaft to make a black-and-brown UI with a built-in CRT >filter you can only deactivate through code injection for Windows 12.

For some reason I just imagine a alternative universe where he didn't die and they suggest a Zune UI

Steve Jobs was amazing, but even if it's true that he would've hated Liquid Glass, which we don't know by the way, he wasn't always perfect. He hated styluses despite the Apple Pencil being a big part of the iPad's success, he wanted the iPad to be a device between smartphones and laptops, while iPadOS 26's reception shows people like iPadOS to feel more like MacOS too..

Thank you for your insights, Bangladesh Apple shill. MacOS is a piece of shit cloud spyware OS same as Windows and iOS. Whenever you launch a program it phones home. It reports file hashes even if you're not logged into an account.

>between smartphones and laptops,
i assume he meant literally, not figuratively? because you cannot have laptop-like device with locked bootloader. closest to that already existed, called netbook
Replies: >>16426

oh and before that PDAs were those devices. they ran windows knockoffs, and most had real keyboards. not having keyboard for proper programming is not how you make device between phone and laptop if you targeting work devices

Dunno bout niggerjeetshills but the Skeuomorphnig UIs employed by late 2000s macfagware and Wangblows Vista+Sacred 7 were objectively superior to this Liquid Glass faggot design on account of not being based on flat/material design ESGDEIBRIDGE principles.
In addition to muh transparency and muh gradients the Windowns Aero UI not only had a stronger blurring effect, but the blurring itself was accentuated by various additional "fake" effects like fake windowpane light rays/"reflections" made out of sprites/simple vectors layered on top, and all the UI elements you could click on had noticeable accents and bulges which would light up/animate when you hovered over or clicked on them.
Aero was also not afraid to use a multitude of colors aside from the standard blue to further help distinguish between various elements and lead the eye onwards, and much like old iOS always remained in "style" even when it didn't need to the <- -> buttons in Windows Explorer are a good example of this.
Potemkindows 10 by comparison looked like some kid's first UI made on an Amazon tablet, and Liquid Glass is the equivalent of slapping a CRT >filter on a Californian "retro-inspired" 2D pixelshitter game from 2014 made in Flash with seamless sprite scaling+rotation.

Putting 2D eye candy behind a slightly transparent window really doesn't work as well if it is blurred, so macfags don't even get to enjoy that. Not to imply that most of them could appreciate it, of course.

Putting 2D art in a terminal makes more sense anyways rather than basically blurring every thing and just making a worse user experience in general.
Degrading the UI just for the sake of aesthetic is just asinine yet for some reason I have a feeling that there won't be an option to pretty much revert.
>users mad at shitty UI
>cannot change it back

nice i tried this once but found it more distracting than anything

another one of these threads? talk about low effort, whatever apple's design department makes, does it really deserves an entire thread?
post that on the news thread.
Replies: >>16463

Because this board is so blindingly fast and bombarded with countless new threads and posts every day so we need to cut down on them, right?
Replies: >>16465
>>16463
so, is it acceptable to trade quality for quantity? you don't have to look far to find examples of how the latter hates the former; the slowness of the board is a plus, this usually encourages some effort posting since the threads stay up longer and are read by the majority.

coming back to the topic at hand; it seems wrong to waste precious board space to talk about a purely aesthetic decision. there's only men here, let's talk about practicality and how /tech affects our lives.

I hate Apple, Google, Microsoft, all their spyware anti user slop is unusable, doesn't matter what UI their pajeets are shitting out. They treat users as goyim. Governments should stop them but they're basically one with Big Tech.

People on 4cuck act like it's worse than syphilis, but I think it's fine, with some flaws. Once they fix the flaws, I think it will be a good trendsetter. Rather have neoFrutiger Aero than bland minimalism

This was the 1st time in my life I was shilling for Apple, then they just gave up and went back to being boring. I feel betrayed, I loved the the early Liquid Glass versions, the concept was so good, but they were cowards.
>>16591
It's the closest we got to Aero Glass in today's UI sensibilities, at least Apple tried, most companies are just 100% flat that bear no resemblance to that glass aesthetic.

Not really liquid glass-specific, but:
>haven't touched nu-crApple stuff for a while
>recently had to use one and it had multiple monitors
>not only is the menubar square
>not only is it translucent
>not only is it collapsible
>there are separate simultaneous menubars on each display, and they are different if there are different foreground apps
What's the point of having a menubar at all separate from windows if you're gonna pull this? These subhumans have no overall idea of what they're doing.
