(In lieu of the usual thread on 4/g/ and me being unaware of any other imageboards with a similar general I'll remake the thread here)

Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the (formerly kek) cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

1st rule of /csg/: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

To start things off: I got a shiny new soldering station since the pen of my decade+ old one (not just the tip) is oxidized to shit and a replacement pen costs more than a whole station. This one also has a hot air blower, which will be useful if I can't figure out how to solder SMD components without PCB why am I even trying this.

Concerningly the top two screws weren't tightened at all. I probably should open it and make sure it's grounded too, since that's apparently often forgotten...

The chip on my finger is the brand-new 0.10$ (actually 0.30$) CH570D. The dev board was sold out so I figured I'd get some chips and "just solder it myself". Not going well so far, perhaps it'll go better with the cheap digital microscope that's yet to arrive.

After reading some random comment elsewhere I realized the screws are meant to mount the pen holder, which also explains why they were loose.
Ali put a banner up in the app saying prices will rise soon. Pretty sure it's just fearmongering.
csg withdrawal got to me. is this what we have been reduced to? where are all the csg posters I'm going to lose my shit.

Would shipping from China be tariffed if the seller marks it down on the shippment?

Discord has done more to destroy the internet
than tiktok had.

dang, that sucks. anyways, hello to you too.
Lately, I've mostly been buying counterfeit MTG cards. There's one seller that gives pretty decent deals through the coin section.

What did you guys get as your last purchase before the tariffs hit? I got a telescopic controller for my smartphone, it's cheap and not too good, but it has the PS1 color scheme, PlayStation themed action buttons, and when combined with RetroArch and XMB I feel like I'm playing a proper PSP and PS Vita successor, which is a comfortable feeling, these controllers are great for the price.

The worst part is figuring out my laptop doesn't do more than 4k 60fps. I had to borrow a laptop to find out the hub works fine.

I remade the thread in 8chan moe's /t/ if anyone cares, most /g/ generals seem to have moved there

At least with IceCat I'm not able to get past the "confirmed" page (back button doesn't work, nor does entering 8chan.moe/t/ manually).
ungoogled-chromium does work though.

My digital microscope arrived. It took some fiddling to get good resolution but it does work as advertised. In particular, the lens should be as close to the surface as possible (which in hindsight makes sense...).
The lens is obviously not centered properly though, which is annoying. I might try to fix it.

I probably should just buy an adapter board instead of trying to solder the chip manually.
