Young boys probably get into rap because their fathers aren't totally absent but don't want to or can't afford spending a lot of time with them. The music at least has ideas that are masculine in a ghetto ape nigger sort of way.

I was there for the social commentary and beats in my 20's. I hadn't found my people yet, they weren't it but I was looking.

just a drum beat with minimal music can sound cool to the ears, and rhymes also sound cool, that's why they did it in poetry in ye olde times. the underlying problem is that 99% of rap music is niggers and wiggers with 0 talent making the shittiest rhymes possible about nefarious nigger activities like murder, doing dope, stealing, reproducing and assorted niggery with the gayest beats possible and autotune. so not a problem with the medium itself, just its purveyors.

Fertile medium for gangsta rap music as lifestyle bullshit. Maybe also a lack of a coherent culture in general and the USA can be exceptional in that regard.

Im assuming op is talking about modern rap which is nothing but commercialized bullcrap and pretense without any meaning and no real musical value either.

Old school rap was about delivering a message from the street and confronting the mainstream values and perceptions.
It changed significantly over the years and became a hollow shell of its former self.
In a way the oldschool rappers did what we do, but instead of posting on imageboards they made tapes with background music and put it in a form of insulting poetry to reach out.
Most of them were from the street doing things on their own and talking about what life was like for them, that is until the music producers sucked them up and conformed them to suit the mainstream pretend and sell out culture.

It's a far cry from what classical is like and due to nigrification jazz and then rock took over before rap even came about after further degeneration of our minds and culture. 

Even a parrot will bob it's head if you beat box. It's subhuman. A monkey cannot like Classical but it will like rap as it's less mentally demanding to experience. It's less mathematically intense.

I think it was ok in late 80's before they went full gangsta. I liked Snap (the power), McHammer (u can't touch this), Vanilla Ice (ice ice baby), and a few others. But it's been a long time since I cared about music.

I'd say early Eminem could be batshit and intresting for that reason but it reeks of niggering. There are no good rap stars due to  nigger culture. The appeal of Rap as in (t)Rap is the same as the appeal of boopy Banda, "Metal" bands that all should like 3Doors Down, basically any Country since Garth Brooks, and anything you hear at a candy rave: the mental subjugation of Western youth by way of commodified, over produced ,degredation- and degeneration-pimping, soulless tripe.

The appeal of Rap as in Hip Hop was is an appreciation of the spoken word in a deep tempo, along a theme, using creative wordplay, width and usage of vocabulary, endurance, and command of the audience (as it was originally a gimmick popular with venues' Masters of Ceremony for a playover between actual bands). 

I can't find it, but Snoop Dogg of all people was on a podcast a few years ago saying he hated modern (t)Rap, and that literally every MC sounded the same, had ZERO diction, and they were all "a bunch of fuckin' kids: 'Little This,' 'Baby That,' be a fucking MAN." So you are absolutely not alone, OP. the genre is thoroughly raped and there's really only the occasional backpacker holding to the spirit of the art.

Ironically, the lyrics of death grips are actually the best part of that music and pretty obviously high effort even if the meaning generally just boils down to nihilism about fucking women and doing drugs. If every rapper put that much effort into their lines I don't think as many people would have problems with their music.

It's a genre that focuses on rhythmic wordplay. Not everyone's cup of tea, of course.

That said, music in general is overrun with low-standard normalfag shit, and rap is no exception. It's not always easy to find the good stuff amid all the junk. You have to know where to look.
