Thats rather runtime specific, calloc semantics of memory allocation is c++-ism and should be used sparingly, where actual initialization is meaningful. But even then, it's still best to decouple allocation from initialization, as it allows transparent use of any allocator, e.g. arena for all related memory regions so you could de-allocate them in one go. Which coincidentally is another point against the concept of destructors and RAII abuse.
