When I think back to the Pokemon craze of the late 90s, one of the distinct aspects of said phenomenon was the extent to which it took place in the largely racially homogeneous milieu that characterized the decade. This was, at least, the case for me in my White little suburb where I grew up. I may have been a child then, but I don't remember even a single non-White attending school with me at that point.
All of the Pokemon cards I traded, toys I played with, and media I consumed I did so with other White children. And if I recall correctly, the Indigo League at least is almost entirely racially homogeneous (Japanese) with the sole exception being Lt. Sarge (Amerikaner). The closest thing to a nigger in the early seasons was the Pokemon Jinx, which some person in the US named Carole Boston Weatherford chimped out about. People should claim Pokemon as a symbol of White identity and draw on the powerful nostalgia it is connected with.
