I always thought cons outside of video games were interesting since you would get to meet people with similar interests until I realized that the people going don't really give a fuck. Which would be the main reason I would never go.
It's just better talking to Anons that or you would go to a cord.

last time and only time I went to a convention was last december, it was so disappointing
it was basically a shitty garage sell full of rip offs, anime wise it was the same 5 same shitty mainstream series, same with the cosplays
I don't look like a nerd yet I can say with confidence I had the highest powerlevel in the whole building but the place was full of poseurs and actual degenerates

The only time I went (or rather, had to go) to a convention was a few years ago to a local one in my Yuropean country, to accompany an underage relative that really wanted to go. The only interesting thing I saw was a fat guy cosplaying as Reimu (which was also the most non-mainstream cosplay I saw).
